- Is MOTHER 3's final boss fight too sad for you? Then try using the Friend's Yo-Yo as an item instead of a weapon! The result isn't practical in any way, but it works to ruin any emotionally intense moment in the game with silly text. Surprisingly, no boss or enemy is immune to its effect--this includes Master Porky Minch himself!

I'd like to imagine that, underneath the pigmask programming and his metal exterior, Claus' childlike wonder still exists, and cannot resist being enamored by a cool yo-yo trick.

I like to imagine that Masked Man claps as robotically and unenthusiastically as possible, as if he was programmed to clap at any cool yo-yo tricks that Porky would do no matter how lame they are. I also like to imagine that Porky only begrudgingly claps at your cool yo-yo tricks but he has a bitter grimace on his face because he wanted to do that and obviously because ya took his damn yo-yo dude.
During his breakdown, a smile starts to twitch on the MM's face...

One more fun fact about the Friend's Yo-Yo: Lucas isn't the only one who can use it! Boney is able to show it off to enemies and receive applause too 😅

Imagine being Claus and the last you see before the cold grip of death takes you is your twin doing a totally sick Around The World trick.
It doesn't even have to be the Yoyo. The fact that Duster's tickle stick works on the Masked Man and lowers his defense implies that he is affected by it. I like to envision it.
It's funny to imagine the Masked Man breaking character but also incredibly sad--especially with the Tickle Stick because it forces a laugh and has to show the kid inside of him for a split second

It's kind of poetic and sweet that the Friend's Yo-Yo can make the Masked Man applaud for Lucas. For once in the Masked Man's life, even for a short while, he recognizes his brother.
I actually had the only copy of the official translation of MOTHER 3, but while I was playing it I used the Friend's Yo-Yo and I dropped it to clap, and it fell into a pot of molten nickel.
So you stole the only legitimate English copy of the game from Reggie Fils-Aimé this year and then dropped it into a pot of molten nickel 😅 poor Doug Bowser will be harrased about it but it's actually long since melted

As a fan of both games, Undertale totally has more secrets. Factoring in the "multiple playthroughs" element and the "FUN values", alongside the dual-combat system of "fight or act", there's a lot in the Mother series, but Undertale & Deltarune're on another level.

That would be INCREDIBLY overpowered but you could actually do the Masked Man fight without healing items or PSI (with the Warm Sweater)
I wonder why the person who discovered this didn't just sell the yo-yo when you get a better weapon for everyone AND waste their turn by selecting this weapon in battle
In my first playthrough i keep the yo-yo and had it in store just so i could present it to Porky in chapter 8. I though since it was a special item for him it could lead into a special interaction. So when i did it and he applaude i though he did it cause he was impressed that i bought it to him or something. I didnt know it was an interaction that happened with any enemy lol

Use the Honey Shower. Heart wrenching moment? Nah let's spray honey all over our long lost brother then a swarm of bees shows up and stings him. Then the bear shows up too.
I wanted to show off the Honey Shower here but I didn’t save any with the item guy! It’s probably my favorite item in the game, I was blown away the first time a bear showed up and destroyed New Fassad 😆

It would’ve been meat if they made unique text blurbs for everyone... I guess I will just use my imagination.

It's useless trivia for an obscure cult classic game, yet it fascinates me nonetheless. I knew about using the DCMC boxers (or other merch) to mesmerize the pork trooper, but never thought to try using other equipment items to see if anything happened.
I’m just glad there are others as fascinated with this stuff as I am, there are so many of these obscure quirks and details I only know about from obsessively looking into the game 😅

I can imagine Porky asking any single NPC if he have seen a boy with a yo-yo. Someone must create a hack about finding it and aggressively inspecting every piece of earthbound map and go even further.

It really is the strangest thing for this to be the one item that has an effect on all enemies without exception. I love that it's a thing, but maybe it should've functioned like the Trivia Cards? Works on some human enemies, but not all
@@ThaneGaming Agreed. But this game is so impressive (especially for a GBA game) that I'm certainly willing to waive this as a slight developer oversight... Though I'll probably try it on my next playthrough like you

What if, Porky was so attached to Ness and the yo-yo, that the enemies he created (Masked Man included) are also admired by the yo-yo because it's important to Porky? Or Porky forced them to consider the yo-yo as a treasure, so they could praise him?

I just re-watch that video after a while just for saying that the Yo-Yo easter egg will be a feature in my game cause one of the weapons is a Yo-Yo and ones you used it as a intem and not a battle cards you can do tricks (and the tricks are impute based so whatever your impute would be your Yo-Yo tricks are not going to be the same) and ones you have done some tricks the ennemies and bosses are going to applauds for you, but the thing is when they applauds you either receive a buff or they get a nerf (randomly). Also not sure if i may keep the for PvP
