There should be a hack where you just play as flint for the whole game. I genuinely think if he levelled up to the same level you would be at the end of the game, he would be leagues stronger even without a ton of OP equips.
Could just use the debug room to do so.
A mother 3 challenge!!! Haven't seen one of these in a WHILE
It would be fun to see a Claus only run of Mother 3, as far as I know it's never been attempted. Normally Claus only is in your party for the first battle in the game, so he is programmed in as a party member, but he has no PSI. Not sure how hard it'd be to set up though.
I always wanted to see a Flint only. Apparently Flint can equip Lucas’ weapons as well, so it’d be interesting. But a Claus one would prob be crazy hard.

my nuts tremble and shiver at the thought of Barrier Trio and Miracle Fassad in this challenge.
Mine do that on my regular playthroughs granted I play in hard mode but still.
If you can defeat the bass the others are light work
i remember grinding to level 20 for the jealous bass and having an optimal strategy
using bombs and just leaving the guitar dead to the jealous bass wouldnt transition to the phase where he gets absurdly difficult, while also making the jam session attack less miserable as one member would only suffer around 10 damage, and the other around 20. then i'd just attack the bass constantly without any real issue and then focus on the drum in the end

i remember watching someone fight master porky with base level characters (so like lucas at level 10 i think and some other characters at the levels they start instead of at level 1) and they barely made it out alive using all of their magyspie artifacts, a party that consisted of i think lucas, kuma, duster, and flint and i think also even using pk ground a bunch.
props for doing this ALL at level 1, not even base level.
That's why I banned level up PSI. Spamming PK Ground, Thunder, and Ice was just too exploitable in the late game. Thank you for watching!

Unrelated, but I had a dream last night where I was playing Mother 3 on the NSO virtual console, except it had the art style of Mother 2.

Awesome run! I’ve always loved the gameplay of these games as well and this pushed it to the limit. I wonder how the game calculates rng and which moves the enemies use because maybe in the future we can do some rng manipulation to make it slightly faster/ consistent
If we can, it'd make it a lot more doable for sure. GGFan knows the most about enemy AI in the game compared to everyone else I know in the community, and even he is still piecing a lot of it together almost 20 years later!

It's been 4 weeks since the mother series iceberg
This reminded me of a challenge video where someone beat Let's Go Pikachu with only a Caterpie, relying on luck and friendship mechanics to just barely beat the Elite Four and Champion without items.
If random good luck (enemies missing, not attacking, or using bad attacks) can give you a 4% chance to win, that's much better than the 0% it would be without those luck-based elements. Though it can be frustrating to wait for the RNG to line up 😅
And hey - there's definitely some strategy needed beyond "spam items and pray for good luck." Balancing out healing and attacking as well as determining what equipment to use is very important for a run like this, especially so in the case of the Porkybots, apparently.
I'm a little surprised you didn't try to use the Mementos sooner given how broken a free revive is, but that does seem like a true last resort option given the limited quantity. Plus (I assume) item space is limited - you obviously needed to make sure to carry attacking and healing items.
I'm wondering what the price tag for this run is, if you tally up the cost of all the items you bought and used in the game.

I did my best to save the Mementos for as late as possible, as I anticipated the Porkybots and possibly the Masked Man might require them to be possible. Had to save them also as I was limited to only seven, as I'd consider adding more beyond that as cheating. Thank you for watching!
honestly i always forget that you can do the needles in (mostly) any order. i always went osohe, chimera lab, snow peak, volcano, tanetane, mountain

I'm pretty sure one pencil rocket and one PK Love will take out the Bass's minions. It might be two pencil rockets though.
Likely would, but you'd need all four opening attacks to miss to survive to do so. 2/4 was much more achievable.
Small note, the Real Bat grants a bigger PP bonus than the Mystical Stick, so you'd have more PP for the final fight with that equipped.

when i fought the mecha drago i only had one bomb and i was very low level so i had to rely on landing one of flints special attacks which took me so long
never knew you were supposed to have flint at the jealous bass fight, where can i read more about this?

Super Bombs for Duster and Boney in the vanilla game border on OP, 200-300 damage a pop is crazy. Pencil Rockets are a bit better balanced. However, SB's are balanced by being made quite expensive to buy.

Used an inventory editor to prep, and when an item replaces an equipped item, it appears as though it’s equipped, but functions regularly.
I ironicly found the pork Tank pretty easy, Its Mr Genetor that i hate

If you mean at Level 1, most likely. Pretty sure you can't reset levels in Mother 1, plus Mt. Itoi quite obviously wipes your team.
@@ItsZombiefied It's not possible either way, Giygas has an attack than does a lot of damage to every party member every turn, and the dragon requires to be at level 25 to fight it

The cutscene explosion does 50 damage to everyone, though anyone with less than 51 HP still survives with 1 HP

People want both. They want the option to support the series officially to demonstrate their love for it. It’s been shown time and time again people who pirate media are more likely to pay for it when/if it’s released officially. It’s out of care and dedication to the that art they love. It’s not about paying or not.
Mostly to see the official localization of stuff instead of what the fans interpreted from it.
Localization is not a science, it is an art, and everyone does it differently
honestly the only bad part about the Fan Translation is the continued use of the name containing what some consider a slur.

So the answer is no. Because characters level up when they kill things. Debug room to reset levels lets you do challenge stuff, but for any normal human being, no. Good job on your item and rng usage.
No, first off you would gain exp from required story bosses ruining level 1, 2 it's not like kingdom hearts where you get bonuses to your stats for defeating a boss.
