- Iraqi Interior Ministry released footage showing moments of deadly fire at a wedding hall in Mosul last week.
Footage of the fire breaking out while the bride and groom were dancing also shows people running in a panic.
Almost 100 people died in the tragic incident, local authorities said Wednesday, Sep. 27.
There were 800 people at the wedding hall when the fire broke out, according to reports.
Another 500 people were injured in the fire, which broke out at Al Haytham Wedding Hall in the Al-Hamdaniya district, southeast of the city of Mosul, local media reported, citing Ahmed Hamdani, deputy director of the Mosul Health Department.
The Iraqi News Agency said the fire was caused by fireworks, candles, and other materials used during the event.

Honestly, I was thinking that maybe people weren't moving fast enough to get out but honestly that hall caught on fire like it was newspaper. That is absolutely insane.
Also looks like some people did not believe it would keep spreading though. Alot of people were still sitting and looking around at the end. It happened so late at night too. Alot of people were probably drunk and disoriented .

Everything on that ceiling was highly flammable, and the hot embers keep traveling higher after the bright flash goes out. No fire extinguishing system. A building constructed fast with cheap material. And gigantic crepe covered chandeliers underneath which they lit pyrotechnics. It's like they were trapped in a matchbox.

Sprinkler systems do not react as fast as everyone thinks. The glass vial needs to heat to a certain temperature to break and this can take als long as 20 seconds. That fire went way faster.

It is about checking the risks proffessionally before having an event in general. if they do fireworks outside, but there is a car with gas galoons inside, it is the same as they did it there unfortunately. if you prevent risks inside, you can do a fire work inside. Don't use light flamable paper decoration on scealing either. Anything could have light that up. And the thech might have used the inapropriate sparks for inddor, the indoor ones are cold, don't go as high & aren't supposed to burn anything if used correctly ;/
Every city / state / nation must make a Law Banning Fireworks indoors, and Banning explosives indoors.
This is why you don't cover a ceiling in highly flammable materials and set off fireworks underneath it.

That is exactly why fire is so dangerous. I have seen training videos showing how quickly fire spreads within a building and it is simply scary. Then people panic and is like multiplying the danger factor many times. Very sad video that shows luck of understanding. People should have started evacuating the first second it started. R.I.P.

In second 00:02 you can see when the ceiling caught fire from the fire work. It is very clear from this shot what happened. What was so shocking is how quickly the fire spread in building material.
The fireworks are cold fireworks, they are not supposed to set things on fire. It was most likely to be a short circuit caused by the firework as well.

It's amazing when it zooms out and you see how low the ceiling is. It's difficult to understand. There are clearly huge cultural differences between the UK and Iraq, because in the UK, it would have been obvious to most people straight away that the pyro is waaaaay too powerful and is going to set the building alight. It's crazy how slow people are to react and how slowly they gauge how bad the situation is. When I watched this, I had no idea anyone had died, but I was screaming at the screen for them to get up and leave. Those guys at the end, standing next to an open door and just watching the building burn.....the mind boggles.

@@verlorenerjunge5921 Just to clarify, those in the hall are all Christians and from a fairly well-known family in Iraq, and the newlyweds said themselves that the owner of the ceremony hall confirmed that there is nothing wrong with lighting fireworks and putting them for decoration, and the speed at which the fires started was so horrific that many people died and caused their death. There is only one exit, which is the door that you see in front of two men, and the number of guests was 1000, not to mention the photographers and singers, so everyone fled towards the door, and most of them returned after they went out to search for their children, so there is no need for the religion of Islam to enter into something that was destined to happen. . It is expected that during the investigation with the owner of the hall, they discovered that he was a fraud and took the money needed to build the hall with expensive materials and bought cheap things, which led to the death of innocent people.

While everyone else's heart is broken, to me it's unbelievably stupid they'd have so much fire in a closed venue and then be shocked it turned to Hell. Lessons must be learned from this. Fire is not to be played with.
This is so very hard to watch. I know the bride and groom escaped, but she lost 10 family members. Besides the adults who died, It's hard to think about how many innocent children died as well. Prayers for all involved.

Try to check this out. Its not on fireworks.. they are not dumb as that to let the fireworks on when they know it would cause it. Someone from their planted the cause. We all know that Mosul was Isis infested before... we dont know if this a lone attack to Christian minority their which is 150k as of now coming from 1.5Million before Isis emerged. Right now there is a total population of 40Million in Iraq, majority are muslims.

They must've paid thick amount to gain permission. I read in a report that the groom is denying that fireworks could've caused this and blaming the authorities assuming there might have been a short circuit.

The owner of this hall and the planner or who ever decided to have fireworks in a closed room, that could reach a height - close enough to the ceiling.... should be jailed. Because you have to be the dumbest to not know you have to deal with any type of fire with maximum caution ! Even the bride with such a dress was dancing in the middle of four fireworks going off. Such a careless planning !! I hope the victims rest in peace and the families find healing.
It was the bride and groom, the hall's rules were against it. But such rules can be easily broken when you're wealthy. The groom doesn't believe the fireworks caused it.
@@thanatos2288 wow. it's so clear from the clip what caused the fire. the groom needs to be questioned too. Also I would blame the hall management too. They know their place the best. If it was in the rules, then that's it. No matter what it shouldn't have been changed for anyone. Safety should be first and not compromised. Now, they have a case and also lost their business.
No one knew this would happen. Stuff like this has been used in weddings many times. There doesn’t always have to be someone to crucify and blame in every bad situation.
@@jomr4249 This is not a natural disaster. Such accidents could have been avoided if indoor pyrotechniques weren't used and the hall had secured facilities. The hall contained several components that were highly flammable and illegal to use.
@@thanatos2288 Everything in the world that is bad could technically be avoided if we were all Gods and psychics. But we aren’t. We don’t always have the foresight to know when something bad will happen.
