What is ASMR?
To me, ASMR is 2 things: a sensation and a medium (like music for example).
The sensation itself (ASMR) stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is the current (non-scientific) name given to the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering and personal attention. It's like goosebumps, but much more pleasant.
ASMR videos, the medium, are not only meant to help induce the sensation or "tingles" in the viewer, but also help provide a relaxing, calming and soothing experience for the viewer. They often help those dealing with anxiety, stress, headaches, insomnia, PTSD, depression, concentrating and more. It is quite therapeutic, for both the creator and recipient, which is not that much different than the mediums of music and painting, for example.

I didn't grow up with parental figures, I lost both my parents to drugs as a kid, and my grandparents raised me, but they often treated me like I was on summer vacation at their house. if your parents give you instruction (teeth brushing, dishes, etc.) thank them. I am living on my own at 22. And learning skills my friends have from their parents, that I never got the chance to learn.

To be fair, your grandparents probably felt a little guilty and didn't set boundaries out of fear of causing more damage...My grandmother did the same for me, but eventually we established rules and I happily did things for her.

Starting my first day of senior year in the morning, I have been watching you since I was in 8th grade, crazy how time flies and how I've almost gotten to know you through the videos. Thanks for always providing a calm escape and some words of wisdom :)
My strategy for school is to pass while doing as little work as possible because none of this shit matters

It depends on what you love to do or what ypu want to do with your life. If your dream job is to be a janitor then you're right school don't matter.

HOLYFEAR96 Eh, it depends. Does it matter when my chosen field of interest is Physics for me to learn all about World History and Biology? No, not really. In that respect, I think he's right. School is not designed well imo, as instead of teaching the skills to prepare you for later in life it teaches you content that you will simply regurgitate on the test and forget about come the next year. I believe schools right now tell us to become masters of our chosen field, yet train us to be Jacks of All Trades. And as the saying goes, "Jack of All Trades, master of none." In that sense I think school needs to reevaluate itself. Should those who live in a representative democracy have to take a civics class to learn how their government works so that they can better participate in it? Yes absolutely. Should they be forced to devote as much or more time to a subject that is not their subject of interest and as such they will inherently not care as much about? No, I don't think so. Honestly, schools now didn't really have a model to follow, since when they started to be for the public (about 150 years ago or so) the idea was to get the basics for a functioning memeber of society: literacy, numeracy, and legible writing. As time went on and kids were sent to school younger and younger, yet were expected to stay there after learning the basics, it became that they would learn the "new" basics of the level slightly above the original basics, thus giving us the system we have now. However, due to the wealth of knowledge readily available in our times, I think it's overwhelming and frankly stifling to try to teach so many subjects to children regardless of their interest level in it. Just the thoughts of someone who applied the OP's method and still managed high marks of A's and occasional but rare B's.

This helped me so much. Thank you, I mean it. I have stressed over so much for the longest time and just right now I feel at peace in my mind. I still have a lot to do, but I'm going to organize myself as best as I can and do what I've got to do as best as I can. I've needed a reminder to just be myself and not try so hard to the point where I don't even want to try anymore. School is such a pain sometimes though I need to remember to keep my head up and do everything to the best of my abilities even if it doesn't work out. Once again, thank you so much.

Very cool video! I went back to school a week ago though and I actually enjoy it now im in a commercial foods class and I beleive I want to become a chef. I heard you say you grew up in the late 70s and I think you should check out a new show on netflix called stranger things and do a role play of it. It takes place in the 80s I think and you might enjoy it and give you some inspiration. Keep up the great videos. :)
