Killer Performance, Rock Bottom Price? | Vitus E-Mythique LT

- The Vitus E-Mythique LT has been somewhat of an open secret since Vitus revealed it at Sea Otter earlier this year, and while it looked like a great EMTB on paper (and on the stand!), how would it fare in the real world? Steve Jones and his friend Ady took a trip to one of the steepest, most remote areas in the UK to push the E-Mythique to its limits and see if the idea of a top performance eBike for under £4,000 was the stuff of myth or legend...

Ooh. I helped build/maintain part of the Corie Lagan path 20+ years ago!. Nice to see it being "properly" used! 😉
The sound track, the slowmo, the scenery... just wow.
Properly cinematic
Still shooting in 1080p though....why?? 🤦♂
@@dsaint94 didn't even notice. The story and content superceded in this case.
Epic content/scenery needs epic resolution....no excuse these days not to be putting out 4k imo
@@dsaint94 while I agree, you're probably part of the 1% of ppl pixel peeping on content like this. Most people looking for ebike reviews are far less bothered by that. But you're right, bring on the 4K EMBN! 😁
It’s great that Vitus are making a “cheaper” emtb that doesn’t suck, but I would still say to people, wait until end of season sales at CRC, Tredz etc and bag yourself an outgoing model at sometimes half the price.
Trouble is with tredz, you get badly set up bikes with a few free scratches and dinks, ive had two bikes off of them with both of the above, when you complain, the first thing they say is would you like a voucher to say sorry!
Oooh yes please,a voucher to spend in your online store, never again!
Im glad I bought in to a CF8 Spectral ON, it wasnt that cheap but man, it works right outta the box. Other than putting my seat on it, the thing just flat works.
Honestly I dont try to "smash it apart" , I ride it hard in rocks and trail etc, but Im more of a dirtbiker when it comes to hard core trail smashing. I still ride my amish/acoustic bikes way more, road, gravel, mt bike.
(A lot of what Steve shows a bike as doing, is totally up to Steve's really high skill level)
@@camperp195Sounds like you had exactly the same experience as I did. The by product of being owned by Halfords for sure
@@camperp195 I can’t really complain about Tredz. Both mine and my brothers Nukeproof Megawatts came from them and the only issue was the dropper post cable catching on one of the bikes. Obviously both needed rider preference adjustments but they arrived otherwise as expected.
I look at this way; if get a brand new £6k bike for £3k- £4k, then having to adjust a few things is acceptable. Especially as a avid mountain biker, basic maintenance should be well within the realm of anybody willing to drop mega money on a bike.
Sure, if the bikes arrived damaged, then that’s a different story. But issues like that aren’t limited to online retailers. I’ve seen some absolute horror stories from other chains, as well as supposedly reputable independent dealers and direct to customer brands (cough, cough 👀)
When does season usually ends? Got myself into mtb recently and ive been looking for a emtb I would not regret buying.
I’ve tended to go for a higher spec than I’ve ever needed or could do justice to and you proved that for many this is more than enough. Great video too!
I’ve walked that route and beyond some years ago. The grip of the rock is unbelievable, it’s virtually impossible to slip on it. It’s like a 10 grit carborundum!
Steve Jones always makes the best films. Poetic with some stunning scenery. Some of these on GMBN would be great. 👏
Another epic adventure , loving these videos .
Great to see that a bike manufacturer can do a good emtb at the right price 👏 well done vitus.
Love these videos Jones, more of them please!
Looks like a pretty decent bike at that price point. I think I need a lot more practice before I take the drive up from Glasgow to tackle those trails but thoroughly enjoying my first few months of eMTB riding on my Haibike Nduro 6. Your content is being hoovered up to learn as much as I can so Thanks guys. I have driven through skye on number of occasions but not really explored it but I did to a secondment in one of the Banks on Skye for a week when the Branch Manager was on holiday and I could leave my branch in Stornoway Isle of Lewis in the hands of my No 2.
Beautifully shot and edited!
killer Video Steve...
Been up there . Its stunning . Was red hot when we went. The views were awsome. That last bit of climb just before u get to the blue lagoon at the top was a killer haha
Absolutely Gorgeous….
Great work Gentleman !!!😊
Crackin video gents! Nice one.
Great video.
Lucky with the weather.
Weather kills people up there.
Epic video and work 👍
Just pressed the purchase button on one of these. I'm pretty excited!!
Epic landscape guys!
It's an amazing part of the world!
I ride the least expensive husqavrna mc-le at $4700 kicks ass. Happy trails. Looks like I’m getting a second emtb. 🎉
Slightly disappointed with the spec on these, when Steve broke the embargo about a month or so ago the bike he had looked a lot better spec wise. If i were spending the money on a Vitus I'd go for E Sommet.
amazing landscapes
Scary ride 😮 Having just had a brake pad delaminate on a flo trail, my heart was pounding on your decent. The rare delamination could have been because ebike specific pads are tending towards the harder/more brittle compounds. Something to look into on future tech vid?
Fabulous 👍👍👍
In Canada you can now get the specialized Levo alloy for exactly 4,200 pounds including tax. Prefer to have specialized for this price range.
Finally a different and amazing adventure review. I will request again a video with range test in eco for commuting for people that use their bike aside the mountain and it's also their every day life
Commuting on a 4 or 6 thousand dollar mt bike? I use a commuter/cheapo bike around town.
Mt bikes are a target.
Please, give us more of this stuff! Great even to participate remotely!
We've got more on the way, coming very soon! Thanks for watching.
Great video awesome place was up there lasr September bike looks good about time Bafang moters were in available bikes 👍
Agreed, we were blown away by everywhere we visited up there!
“Look at that smoke”😂😂
Question: saw this review and went to the Vitus website - no Mythique LT. I see VR, VRS, and VRX models, all 160mm travel F & R. Is this model not actually out yet or a UK version only? Also - any input on motor noise, specs at this price (etc)?
s
Beautiful imagery 👍
Thanks for the kind words!
Kudos 🚴🚴🚴🚴 Just wauw guys .
Would love to hear some stats on the climb: how many meters of climb done (elevation), how many km ridden to top, what mode most climb was done in, how much battery this consumed?
Beautiful climbing and amazing scenery.
Why not use the walk mode instead of pushing and carrying on the back?
I really like that Vitus! Looks really cool and it looks like it rides really awesome! And that's a really good price to work with. I love your videos and this awesome channel!🚵
Thanks for taking me somewhere that I'll never get to!
No problem - thanks for watching!
the world's least expensive bike costs £4k?
The choice of MTBs at that price is enormous
Great Video though and nice that someone is making EMTBs without the enormous price tags that most are charging
Still a long way from cheap and a real barrier to many wanting an EMTB with a decent spec
Yeah, I was wondering what "rock bottom price" was supposed to mean and them BAM £4k!
The Talisker distillery makes over 2,600,000 litres per year alone.
Bit of whisky, drinking with you must be epic.
Currently googling bafang speed chips 😁😁
Bigger rotor on the rear ?
Brand new vitus, released today, and out of stock in all sizes! 😂
I think all full power ebikes should be 160mm travel minimum, they're big heavy rigs and it makes sense. Will be interesting to see how Bafang's after sales and servicing options hold up. Good video.
It appears that the motors are user serviceable, and parts should be readily available, which is a positive change for the better for e-bike motors in general. 👍🏻
I am sold
Wonder how 🤔 the auto shift will perform on those climbs
is the merida e160 500 any good value for money? its 5999 Australian dollars
What’s the Vitus service quality like ?
Great promtional video for Vitus E-Mythique LT and I trust this presenter!!! But!!!!
It's such a shame Wiggle and Chain Reaction have gone into Administration as I'd really love to buy one of these bikes. Will Vitus be looking for another supplier in the U.K.?😥
Walk mode? Instead of the shoulder carry?
Epic rock slab zig zag climbing!
Cool bike….definitely on my contender list for my first e-bike
It was that steep on that section that hike-a-biking it was a bit easier (even though that was still hard!). Much steeper than it looked on video, and some serious exposure!
@@embn gotcha! Lugging 50 lbs on a shoulder up uneven rocks is impressive
Clearly Scotland is where they filmed Mordor 🙂.
I thought scotland was mordor!😂
Absolutey...ditto 👍👍
I watched Robrides review and he was saying the average price for an ebike is 10k😳 the lower shock mount looks too flimsy to me on this bike!
That was the average price from a large group test, and manufacturers typically send out their highest spec bikes for review. Most people are not spending anything like £10,000 on an eMTB - they are however spending between £5000-8000 though, so this new Vitus is indeed good value in comparison.
I'd also add that while the bottom shock mount on this frame doesn't look all that beefy, it doesn't have to be - the force from the rear suspension is taken on the main pivot half way up the seat tube - the bottom mounting bracket for the shock is subject to far less force.
How did the giant perform
Great feature, but sadly it told me nothing about the bike.
This guy is the David Attenborough of electric mountain biking.
With all the cheap chinese battery fires these days, its important to buy UL2849 certified e-bikes and scooters.I couldn't find this e-bike on any approved list!!!
Sometimes Steve hauls his pack other times I guess the pack makes it on its own.
"Plastic free bike", best place to begin.
Think i just want to buy their cheapest version and put my own build kit on it.
I like the way 4k is now "cheap" ...ffs 😢
Low priced. Meaning 4K...........might be close to 5K by the time it gets in a rider's hands.
Other makers are darned close on this price point. Canyon in particular. What does this Vitus weigh in at?
The chain/driveline? I think I'll get 1000 miles on the oem chain on my E Mt bike, its always in dirt, but I dont bash shift it.
I give it that second's rest to shift, shift early, shift often. Im not making a living on it, just trail riding. Dont need to beat on it.
I got just over 1000 miles on the chain on my Intense Sniper amish bike, so not much difference.
24+ kg on vitus website, hardly "LT" is it
@cleggycyclist LT stands for long travel, if you want a light bike look for something with SL in its name lol
@@kingflynxi9420 I'll wait for full fat batteries and SL lol
120 kg total system weight seems not that much
Every cliche known to a Welshman.
Loved the vid of the area of my heritage but must say thats total crap that you cant ride that on a real bike sure if your unfitt and over weight it may be really hard but everything is harder when over weight and not fit. It may be true that you cant but i can i would rather be fitt on a real bike than fat on a e bike . 😂👍
I miss Skye.
Beautiful place!
Just one more thing the quicker these vehicles are banned off trails the better someone is going to be killed by the lunatics on deregulated bikes
Trouble is,you had a supported ride,us normal people dont, youd need a 750wh battery and a250 wh spare, just to make sure you made it back, and while catering for the lower end,the vitus is ok,but i bet whoever buys one, would be upgrading parts rather quickly, personally,id rather just buy a bike with a bigger battery and better spec, which is why i bought a cube action team, yes, more expensive, but you can get most things on low cost finance nowadays 🤷♂️
Could be cash in supported rides
Its a "paid promotion" not a real life experience, camera crew, maybe batteries, its a great video though!
I dont really like reviews that are paid promotions but its how youtube works.
There's more to a bike than a sorta low price. Weight? Range? Support by bike maker? Are the tires cheapos?
You can guarantee that at £4000 quite a lot of the bike is cheap, first thing to cost cut is wheels and tyres.
You replace nearly everything on a bike if you have it more than a few years and actually ride it…..upgrading is irrelevant as it’s part of the game. Starting lower gets you in the game sooner
Coire Ghrunnda and Corrie Laggan are no places for mountain biking so don't be mislead by this video. The amount of pushing and actual riding distance is not worth the effort, it's just a place for photo or video bragging rights. Come on guys ride stuff that is actually feasible.
It's just a bike advert in a dramatic location, nothing else.
This channel has become just an advertisement for Bikes.
