The free flight takes a lot of training. It’s a lifestyle change to have a bird even more so for free flight. With proper training though, if they get spooked, they can comeback and obviously, it must be done in a controlled environment.

@PoodlesandParrots oh yes. I am working on getting my new Baby getting into that routine. He is still so shy/afraid. He gets all skinny. I need to get into the habit weighing him everyday like the wizard said (what's his real name?) 😂🤣

I don't entirely disagree with Michael on his stance towards the uvb bulbs, but it is unlikely he has consulted with anyone that has worked with Arcadia bulbs and meters. They are a bit better then what we are use to seeing on the market. With that being said, he is right about how quickly they expire, arcadia or not. Probably just the nature of a "bulb". Just anecdotal evidence from myself(I use the meters and arcadia).

I rehomed a 3 year old Quaker. He is very attached to me, i spend time with him and I am very concerned about him having the correct diet (he heats pellets) and I am trying to get him to eat chop. I am building him a play gym out of pvc and using rope (straw, jute) to cover the perch areas and i plan to use vet wrap. I am concerned that he is quiet and sleeps in the daytime. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do to alleviate this issue?

What kind of pellets is he eating? I recommend TOPs but Harrison’s is another option. Check out my diet playlist: czcams.com/play/PLoYdTQtgMFfVDbWy3AzCin4on0B1tjcpz.html&si=0Fb4XNmnTWpzUoMS . A play gym is a great idea! Birds are not loud 24/7 so it’s okay if he’s quiet and naps, my Mia naps during the day everyday too. Since you’ve brought him home have you been to do a full check up at the avian vet? That’s recommended and then you can be sure there’s no health concerns especially if with the sleeping you mean the bird is lethargic..
