- Full Review of Aston’s New DB11 in V8 guise! The first product of ‘Second Century’ plan DB11 new figurehead of ‘DB’ bloodline. And this V8 version may well be better than the V12 flagship! The DB11 V8 is said to be “a refined and comfortable GT with a more sporting bias”.
This car is all NEW: GONE is the ‘VH’ platform, the car is now built upon a new bonded aluminium platform, lighter and stronger: but most importantly now Aston are in a technical Partnership with Mercedes Benz, and now have their hands on the EPIC 4.0 V8 BiTurbo from the AMG GT!!
But will it be different enough to the AMG tune to satiate Aston Customers? Or is the V12 still the way to go? In this review we explore:

This review is so thorough. Having done a lot of homework prior to settling on the DB11 V8, this served as further confirmation I made the right choice. Only wish I'd seen this sooner and was shunted higher up in search results.
She arrives on Wednesday, ultramarine black with black gloss roof, smoked rear headlights, black badging. A mixture of excitement and intrepidation . Drove the vantage considered the V12 neither were for me , the V8 ticked a lot more boxes. Heritage is the word, Aston through and through. Am used to rwd vehicles but the Vantage felt a little more unruly, quite telling when sales people apply the word hooligan to a vehicle...also more noise in the cabin...wanted to love but not for me sadly.

Hi, What made you pick the V8 over the DB11 V12. Was this cost driven or the drive? I'm curious as i think im settling on the V12 but im not sure if this is just for the 4 grills in the bonnet 😅

took the v12 for a spin 2 weeks ago.........oh my fkn god.......sport+ and an open road from standing start..........the noise, the feeling, the smile on the face.
It was great on cornering as well, but the engine in the V8 sits slightly further back under the hood, which changes the weight distribution making it more playful.
Absolutely stunning body, beautiful interior......V8 Volante version on the wishlist

I’ve watched so many reviews on the DB11 ( since I’m picking up a DB11 Volante this week) and no doubt that you are the most informative!
However, I’ve opted for the onyx black volante since there’s something about the floating pillar that in my mind makes the visuals softer than the volante.
This is the most fascinating design of Aston i haven’t seen before. Really cool !!!

Just one small difference of opinion, I’d
like to suggest that the M113 engine might actually have been ‘The Best’ AMG V8 (it featured in all models including the incredible McLaren SLR). I have to declare a small bias as the owner of an SLK 55 AMG.
P.s How about some content on AMG’s very rich back catalogue.

Such a gorgeous blue. I always prefer the roof to be black both the rails and the roof. I wish they would have a fixed glass roof like the type just to bring light into the cabin.

I suspect that the design feature is actually called "curlicues".... You'll have to check with AM. (definition - a decorative curl or twist in calligraphy or in the design of an object.)

Agree with others - prefer the length and detail. This is what makes it more informative than a 5min Top Gear review on TV. That's the beauty of social media - you have time to do a proper and thorough job of it!
Well I’m not saying that they should be 5 mins. But around 15-20. Like the R8 video. It was really great and focused on the essential. Maybe that’s just me.

When this came out, the DB9 was the most beautiful car for me and the DB11 was too different, not Aston enough. But I must admit, I´ve grown to like the DB11. It now actually has a spot in my dream garage.

Wow 250 lbs off the end of the front end is just massive. I think just for that I would have the V8 over the V12. Imo better handeling makes the car a better all arounder.
yeah they can make the v8 produce more power than the v12 really easy but they don't want to

Amazing review probably the best review for this car .love the color love the car .absolutely stunning.definately that engine is the best from AMG Engine till date with many cars having it and now Aston gets the same .thts the right reason to have it in this car .but .i would really missed NA v8 Aston engine .probably they can have special db11 V8 AMR having Aston engine .would be best keeping this car as well .this one will be better than the V12 .as the new Dbs superleggera takes that place .Aston has done a fabulous job .well done Aston Martin .

I've always love Aston and always will. But in this case, I think the Bentley Continental is a nicer, better GT. I know it looks a bit boring and a bit 'tankish' but the new model especially... the Continental is a proper bruiser with it's Porsche Panamera underpinnings.

Aston is absolutely gorgeous, but best British luxury automaker, no, that would be Bentley. That new continental is chariot, a head to head comparo would be nice.
I like the new changes. it might just be me but it looks like you're sitting on the floor with no seat and the dash looks gigantic and out of proportion
I dont think the DB11's design will stay as timeless and elegant as the DB9
To me, the best looking car ever made. To me the new dbs grill is way too tall. But a great looking car as well. The vantage is would be great too if only they changed the front headlights.

Maserati GranTurismo is more practical and sounds just as great.
Hands down AM for interior, but 100,000.00 extra.

Good review, makes a change from the bumptious, over enthusiastic Schmee! He's right to point out how the V8 is not in conflict with the Aston brand identity. Aston traditionalists will always need persuading! The task isn't as easy as Bentley and their audi V8 because the W12 is so characterless and doesn't have the pedigree of the Aston V12s..........
