- Winter has been a great success over the last two years at Lostock Dam. Just before the recent flood event in the hunter valley Michael and myself made a day trip up to the dam in search of big numbers. This time of year has to be my favourite time to fish the dams and in this video you will understand why. I hope you enjoy!!
My gear:
Reel: Daiwa Luvias 2004
Rod: Daiwa TD Zero 1-3kg 702uls

Awesome session will , thanks for sharing 👍
Cheers mate, no worries! love the videos too
Hey Will, love your video man; some great bass insights; love the bass fishing.. inspire by your video, I took a trip up from sydney to lostock at the weekend there; I was there first light and finishing a 1/4 and a trimmed down slim swim; fishing it slow and at all depths, off the cliff sections, possibly could of taps but not one :-) Do you know if fishing ok up there at the moment? And any tips to crack the bass bite up there in winter- thanks
Hey mate! Love to hear. I fished there on Friday and caught around 35 but only in the one spot. Fished the cliff faces first cause that’s where I usually fish in winter but absolutely nothing then found a point in the dam where they were constantly biting. Hopefully that video will go up on Wednesday 👍🏽
@@wellplayedfishing7809 Thanks a mill man, how interesting that they schooled up in that spot.. Glad you got into some anyway, look forward to seeing the video and sure may see you up there some day.. Keep up the great work.. 👍
Awesome video mate!! Looked like a hell of day catching some fat winter bass! :)
Excellent Video mate. Editing was Really well done. Loads of fish.. What an Epic day for you both. Got me Keen to try out catching my first Bass again. Cheers for the motivation 👍
Appreciate the kind words mate! Good luck with the bass fishing I'm sure you will get it done!
@@wellplayedfishing7809 Cheers mate. Also reading your description were all those bass caught on just 6Lb's braid and leader?
Thats a catch in my books
Oh man you making me want to go out!
I still can't believe you caught that many! Even seeing the proof haha
Will have to go for a run up there before winter ends mate! Wish I had the go pro a few weeks ago when we had the 100 plus day!
@@wellplayedfishing7809 if you're heading up on a weekend, let me know I'll be keen
Cracking day mate and a great video.
I agree winter plastics is a really fun and productive way to catch them.
And in game fishing holding the leader is classed as landed so can take that one as landed I reckon 😉
Cheers Simon! Maybe I just might count that then haha
Great video, welcome back, you have to touch the fish for a catch and cheese and onion crisps on a sausage sandwich is hands down the weirdest thing I've seen here in Oz in my 4yrs 😉😂
Thanks mate! Yeah I've always gone by that in my books too. Haha I've never tried it before until then but I highly recommend it
Well played. Ya make it look so easy. I bet if I went there it wouldn’t look like that 🤣 nice little dam that one.
Plenty of time on this dam that's for sure. Beautiful little dam!
i live up at lostock across the rod from the caravan park if i use swim baits in the river u recon i can catch anything
Swim baits are effective especially for the bigger bass
Hey great video. with your retrieve, do you let your lure make contact with the bottom? Or how high do you have it above the bottom? Thanks.
Thank you! Most of the time I will allow my plastics to hit the bottom and work the whole water column. Keeps the plastics in all different areas but sometimes on the sounder if I can only see they are in 4-6m ill just count a few seconds until in the right depth of water
quick release bass
If you require new fresh darker tint on ur pathy let me know cheers
have they finished the road works on that road yet? love yer vids mate
Hey mate the roads are basically complete. It’s about 80% done but I believe they aren’t going to finish off the last 2km. A lot better to drive on now though, cheers!
New sub ! Liked 🙏👏
Lol the fish counts if your having a shit day off it😂😂😂😂
Yeah I didn't end up counting that fish in the end ahah
Great video mate can you camp there or do you have to stay at the caravan park and is there a boat ramp want to go here early September on my way to St Claire any help would be great 👍
Cheers mate! Yes you can camp there but you have to camp down at the caravan park which is below the spillway but yes there is a boat ramp.
@@wellplayedfishing7809 Thanks heaps for the info 👍
Was nearly going to flick u a message on insta asking how are u going out there I haven’t had any luck up here in glenbawn
That's no good mate, Glenbawn can be real tough at times
@@wellplayedfishing7809 it’s been an effort for nothing might give st Clair or lostock a crack
@@benpaynter8348 two dams I would much prefer
Yeah I think I’ll have to venture away from the local, kayak fishing is a bit tough at glenbawn
