The brothers and sisters with the Detroit Fire Department deserve a lot of credit. They fight fires with equipment that is old, fire houses that are shut down due to manpower and a city that could care less. But yet every time that bell and gong goes off, they get on the trucks and respond, no questions asked!
@bremfraser Bremfraser I'm a firerfighter in Minneapolis and I'm telling you you could not begin to do a 24-hour shift in Detroit. Did you her how many working fire they get in a day. I have met some of these guys and my hat goes off to them. Keep up the good work!!!!!!
@cth726 The folks in Detroit don't know just how lucky they are to have these guys. Understaffed, equipment that belongs in a junkyard. Houses shut down and a mayor that could care less. Yet these heroes come running when called and they still kick ass!!!
It's a "On watch" assignment. The man on cot watch sleeps downstairs (in old firehouses) in the watch room or near the watch desk, Everyone else is sleeping in the dorm (in old FH's) or rooms. The man on "Cot Watch" is responsible for answering phones and receiving dispatchs (runs) from Central Office (Dispatch), and activation the Alert to wake crews up to respond to runs.
Very very well done. By far the best tribute I've seen. Detroit FD deserves all the credit in the world
