    nice videos! these are helping decide on speakers for my mobile dj setup, so thanks for giving us a general idea of the sound they produce. oddly enough to my ears the 12 sounded warmer and sounded more clear in the mid range than the 15. the 15 had somewhat of a hollow sound to it?

    The 15's are fuller and the sound more distinctive where as the 12s have more midrange but sound more flat/ less depth. In a live music setting that translates to Being able to mic the bass drum or all electronic drums & run the Bassist though the PA with everyone else for a more balanced and control low volume sound acoustically. Everyone can turn down to accommodate a live soft Jazz & dine and later punched up dance club sound atmosphere. Using their own amps as mere stage monitors. In this way dinner guest can have conversation at their tables while eating.

    Hi Sir, I am looking to upgrade my current monitors (Behringer Eurolive 215's) They just aren't cutting it anymore, and are only 450 watt speakers. I've heard really strong reviews on the Powered Electro Voice, but am just trying to determine whether I should pay the extra money for the 15P or go with the 12P. I play in a 4 piece band (small shows- bars/clubs, prob around 50-100 people or so) We currently use the Behringer's as Monitors and have 2 15inch Mackie Passive speakers (the old S series), but they are very large. I'm looking to only buy 1 speaker right now. I plan to use the Electro Voice as a Monitor for my vocals, and my Acoustic Electric Guitar. However, I sometimes do solo shows, and would like the option of just using 1 speaker for those with my Acoustic Guitar, and vocals. Based on this set up, does anyone recommend the 12P or 15P? We don't use a Subwoofer in our group, and don't plan to anytime soon. Thank you!

    Solid info! Thanks! I run experiential marketing events that are mostly at outdoor venues, farm shows, festivals and such. 90% of the time we're running background music while the staff promotes our product(automotive) and occasionally jumping on mic to tell folks what were up to. I've been eyeballing these EV's as well as the Mackies, and Behringer, that are able to wirelessly link the speakers. Pretty much sold on sticking with a 15" speaker, but I'm curious if you've done a review, or have any input on systems such as these that can wirelessly link the speakers? Ideally would like the option to link more than 2 speakers down the road, so the speakers aren't just blasting one particular zone and still get the same overall audio reach

I wanted to have the same so I was expecting buying the 15. But my local store give me a try on the 12 (they did'nt have the 15 in stock...) and I was impress with the clarity of it. Way more clear, define than the 15, more boomy. I decide to go and buy the 12.... With my small Sub, it 's perfect. On the other side of the stage , I have the 15 that gives me presence. I own 1 unit of the 15 inch for home party. Its nice sounding, loud and clear, nice bass. But it does clip easily. The clip is related to bass at 60hz. For example if you eq 60hz very high at unity, it will clip real fast. But if you tone down the 60hz at same volume, it wont clip. So if you need normal bass, it is sufficient. But if you are bass head that want chest vibration, subwoofer is required for the 15 inch series.

    Side question, on powered speakers with both XLR and TRS inputs, are they wired together internally? I want to tap off one of them to run a signal to a sub with RCA inputs, so I'm thinking I could just wire a cable to plug into an unused input, and put an RCA plug on the other end for the sub.

      Get the 15s for that. The 12s are a little too small. We use those in my group

    Thoughts about live band vocal application?
    90% of the time vocals only.
    100% of the time running a sub.

      honest question - why do you use a sub for just vocals?

    • @jjryan1352
      @jjryan1352 Před 4 lety +1

      If you don't have a 12 the vocals will sound muddy for a typical indoor live music gig, unless you are all basso profundo lol.

      Break music, and I know I don’t sing many notes to hit the sub frequency, but even stage bleed through on live mics sound fuller. I’ll also put a beta 52 on the kick sometimes

    The 15 inch could handle my Bass Guitar fine. The 12 inch sounds like a radio from the 30s to 60s, lacks the solid bottom. The EVs always seem to design the speakers to need a good woofer/subwoofer if you are running a smaller woofer in the box. Years ago I remember big speakers with only a few watts that had great low bass down to subwoofer range. It depends on how loud do you need.

    is ev zlx 12p more reliable then alto ts412? and how about rcf art 912p? which of these 3 would be the best choice?

      the RCF is One of the Must Reliable Models But at 3 Times the Price it Better Be.
      But if your Good at Managing Power Levels and Knowing Your Limit the TS412 is a Great way to Go. You Can Also Try The Harbinger V4112 Rent first is always a great option guitar-center.pxf.io/Rentals

    We were using PRX 835 3 way tops with matching JBL PRX 18"subs at every event. Rated at 300 + people these sounded great. But extremely bulky and a lot of the times overkill for sound. Always ran them at the 3 o clock gain. We also have 2 JBL PRX 815p which are great by themselves But we are beginning to think the 12" tops being so crisp and clear paired with the subs may very well still do the job with an indoor crowd of 200 with a wayyyy easier setup and less space being taken up. Anybody have any thoughts to this logic.

    • @agork
      @agork Před 2 lety

      Good logic. However, I was surprised at how much louder and fuller the 15" ELX 115P sounded compared to the 12" ELX 112P in real life. It seems literally much louder as in at least 50% louder IMHO.

    EXPERT ISLAND, Can I use a RCF 745 AS MK 4 with 2 RCF 702 AS 2 SUBS ? I heard they might cancel frequencies but I don't know what that means since they speakers all have the same 700 watt rms even though the tops are a 15 and sub is a 12. I ask because the RCF 705 ( 15INCH) SUB wont fit in my car. I was thinking about using 2 of the 12inch subs coupled with 1 15 top.

    If you would have the choice, you would go for 2 x 12" with a subwoofer, or 2x 15" without?
