IDF conclude their investigation into aid worker killings | LBC breaking

- The Israeli military has sacked two senior officers over the drone strikes which killed seven aid workers including three Brits, saying soldiers made a "grave mistake" and violated operating procedures.
The fire support commander of the brigade involved, and the brigade’s chief of staff have been dismissed from their positions, the IDF said.
Other commanders have been reprimanded.
The British victims were Former Royal Marines James Henderson and John Chapman and an ex-Army soldier James Kirby.
The IDF said in a statement the strike "should not have occurred" and it was a "grave mistake stemming from a serious failure due to a mistaken identification, errors in decision-making, and an attack contrary to the Standard Operating Procedures."
"The investigation’s findings indicate that the incident should not have occurred.
"Those who approved the strike were convinced that they were targeting armed Hamas operatives and not WCK employees".
World Central Kitchen, whose vehicles were targeted, gave the Israeli military proper advance warning of its route and the vehicles’ roofs were carrying the charity’s logo.
James O'Brien hears from caller Steve, a humanitarian aid security adviser, who says 'ordinarily in countries where we operate, the security forces and the local police are there to ensure our protection as well... it's the inverse in this case'.
Caller Zara tells James: 'it's becoming increasingly clear that the sole purpose of Netanyahu was eradication'.

All journalists operating in Gaza are approved by Hamas, with most being part of Hamas. Even those that are not in Hamas are often imbedded with them. So of course many have died. According to a new poll, done in Gaza, by Palestinians, 71% of Gazans supported the attacks Oct 71. So, even if we are to believe that the IDF is randomly attacking everyone, 28,400 are culpable. That really is an amazing ratio in a modern war.
Now everyone is moved by the deaths of these 7 workers. And what about the 40k Palestinians?

The thing is that this wasn't a mistake. This was a deliberate attack for the sole purpose of stopping food and humanitarian aid from getting to Palestinians. Let's remember that on the first day the Israeli government said that they would cut off water, food and electricity for Gaza. That's why UNRWA was essentially crushed.

@@irishvicar1963 That is possible, but imagine that you are a commander on the ground. There are three armored cars traveling together. It is nighttime.
Everyone talks about the vehicles having identification on top, but drones are not going to see that at night. Look at all the videos of nighttime operation by US border patrol. There is no way to see the markings.
The commanders should have had information about all friendly vehicles operating in their area, but I think that is where the breakdown happened. If those armor cars were not marked as friend, to the commander, then who could own them? Only Hamas would have that kind of assets.
All these people that think Israel did this on purpose are fools. This is a massive political hit to the Israelis. It gave ammunition to their enemies in Western countries and made it harder for friends to defend them.

A poll last week, done in Gaza, showed 71% of the people support the attacks of Oct 7th. So yes, it is hard to distinguish between terrorist and their supporters and that 29% that might be sane. I imagine that the 29% do not have armored cars driving together. If a firing crew and was not told they were aid workers, it would seem like a 100% chance that the target was a member of Hamas.
