Fix tape adapter / Constantly ejects

  • Why is the rubber piece so important?: Sometimes, it's just too bulky. When making contact with other cogs, the bulkiness prevents the piece itself from spinning, which stops the movement of the other cogs. Being one of the few pieces with rubber, the other cogs rely on this specific piece in order to move.
    It's not working. What else can I do?: If your car persists in ejecting the cassette, you may want to take the rubber piece mentioned and rub it against a surface, much like a eraser on a table - to smooth it out more. Just make sure you don't accidentally make it uneven.
    NOTE:
    -Removing any of the cogs won't work.
    -If you choose to lubricate the cogs (which I strongly don't recommend), do it SPARINGLY to whichever pieces you're applying it to.

    Sucess! I tried 4 different adapters, gears in, gears out, rubber o-ring in/out, every solution didn't work. Then I read my owners manual. If you have a GM-Delco am-fm cassette system, it has a bypass that must be activated.
    1- turn off radio. 2- turn key to acc 3- press and hold tape aux button for 5 seconds. a flashing cassete icon will stay on 4- put in adpater. system powers up and it does not eject. 5- using eject button cancels bypass
    6- to reactivate, repeat 1-4. it works. no matter the adpater or gears.
    don't know about other brands. check your manual. hope this helps.

    Myself, I've always had a problem with annoying cranking, squeaking, and rattling noises. I fixed this though. If you pause this at 0:51, you will see the three main cogs in the center. If you carefully lift those out (paying attention to their configuration), and put a dab of Vaseline where the large center cog rubs against the casing, and on both sides of the smaller cogs. This essentially creates a soft suction between all the parts, and eliminates the plastic on plastic crime. Cheers.

    I like this vid, its helpful and hilarious cuz the way he speaks. However, this DID NOT work for me BUT i'm not saying this will not work for others. Here is what I did and so far, its works. I have the same model, i PERMANENTLY took out the gear with rubber PERIOD. Also, I sprayed the gears with a little DW40 and though I'm still skeptical, its working, I even ejected it and put it back and it works. I wish the rest of you the best. I feel you all.

    It is confusing because he literally takes the piece with rubber out and then places the piece with the rubber still intact back into the cassette, and then plays the cassette in the player an it works correctly. So he effectively took it apart and then put it back together. Wut

    Sorry for the late reply Robbie. So, if you tried that method and it didn't work, you probably have to smooth it out some more. If you feel it, the edges aren't even/smooth, this prevents the cogs from turning which creates resistance, causing the cogs to not rotate properly and get ejected. Try this- wipe the edge on a smooth surface like you would a rubber band until smooth. Make sure the edges aren't uneven, because having the edges lopsided will cause trouble as well.

    If you have a protective cover over it, it usually prevents the jack from plugging in all the way. If it has an equaliser, you may want to adjust that. My last guess is that if you're using those fatty headphones, and you're using the wrong jack converter- either 1.5 or 3mm.
    One thing unique to ipods is the ability to adjust the sound to play exclusively on one specific earbud. This may mess with your cars audio system.

    Maybe someone here can help me:
    I got an adaptor for my tape deck, but it wont stay in for longer than a second. As soon as its pushed it it settles like any other tape then is immediately spit back out. I've tried it just the adaptor, I've tried it with my music plugged in and playing, nothing helps. I can play regular tapes with no problem. I've tried other adaptors from other brans and they all do the same thing.
    I think the problem is that the cord is preventing the door from closing all the way, so as some sort of safety mechanism the deck spits it back out. I was thinking of trying to remove that little door entirely, but I dont want to break the whole thing. Any ideas anyone?

      A slightly old thread, but if I remember correctly; the cassette player in Chrysler/Dodge vehicles equipped with it can be a little picky with adapters. In my 300M, it would only read some adapters with the bottom up. A fix I did was to remove the auto-reverse gear in the adapter, you just need to make sure the other gears are aligned properly or it will not be read.
      If that doesn't work, try a cleaning cassette (usually packaged as a head unit cleaner). Owner's manual recommends cleaning the cassette deck occasionally because it does get dirty.
      Hope this helps!

    Don't waste time doing this -- it doesn't work. Nor does removing the cog with the rubber on it or any other part of the adapter. This product is just defective, plain and simple. Sometimes the adapter works if I warm my car up first -- but sometimes during the summer when the weather's warm the adapter still does the auto-eject thing. I've yet to find a way to actually fix this product. But, yeah, don't waste your time taking it apart--it doesn't fix anything.

    • @joseb.1681
      @joseb.1681 Před 9 lety +1

      +StrangeAngel03 Yeah I didn't think dismantling would work anyways. I had a Philips cassette adapter and it keeps ejecting constantly. Sometimes it goes for a few good 5 minutes, at least one song. I finally had it and upgraded to getting the Monster cassette adapter, it was $20, $10 more. Yet, it's doing the same thing. If what you say is true, about it being a defective, then I can go back to Walmart and exchange it. Also, the weather does have effect on the cassette because it heats up your radio as well. But even when I fixed my AC, it still ejects. Even on cold nights. I remember I somehow fixed this problem before, but I forgot what method I used.

    • @MordecaiWalfish
      @MordecaiWalfish Před 8 lety

      +Jose B. its ejecting ot autoflipping because of the tension in the tape adapter. I used both the monster and the philips and if you remove the lower gear assembly and lightly wd-40 the gears inside so they move easier, along with not screwing in the screws all the way, leave the a little loose so its not too tight, and it works. havent had either pop out for over half a year.
