Thanks for this video. I am thinking about this issue a lot right now. I don't have answers, but tying myself in knots is definitely happening.

If gender was on the inside, there would not be a need for anyone to transition. Being yourself is when the body and mind are living harmoniously. It's tough for anyone to admit that they've fallen short yet I think many need to be more honest with themselves about passing and how they are perceived.

You're talking about feelings of self worth, not the reality of gender expression.

Self worth and presenting in the appropriate gender are proportionate to a successful transition. You can't really feel good about yourself if you still see the wrong gender in the mirror. For many of us, we still see a guy even after years of hormones and facial surgery. I've come to the same conclusion I had in the beginning before transition but somehow that those rules may not apply to me. If gender dysphoria isn't treated and transition commenced in childhood, there is only a small likelihood of a successful transition in adulthood. Of those who were successful include those who facially pass better and have advanced degrees in highly needed STEM fields. It's one of the few ways to have the adequate means to find a $45K facial reconstruction and at that only 52% are satisfied with the results.
Everybody else has it rough both before and after surgery. There's no way to work your way into something better because few want transgender people around and only those who will tolerate it and hence want something much greater in return. So either you are being extremely underpaid at the bottom or you have a skill that can be employed away from clients. It's not a fun way to live but to let the body masculinize further would kill us.
