She said it’s really sinking in and I’m like I hope it doesn’t really sink in ha get it
The last clip where Dana is on the boat 😍 she looks so beautiful. Like she was made for boat life 🥰😍
She needs to add clothing links 😃
Hi guys! In the future do not sew the velcro with the glue on the backside. The needle pushes the glue inside the sewing machine and can destroy it. I have had so many people in my work making this mistake and from what I’ve learned it is not fixable. The ones with the glue is for hard surfaces and the ones without is for sewing. Looking forward to the next episode! ⛵️ 🤍
Thank you so much for this tip! As this video shows Im a total newbie to sewing machines, so really appreciate your insight. Won't sew with the glue again :) -Dana
You're probably somewhere warm; it doesn't look warm there so the glue should be pretty resistant. Also lubricating the needle will prevent uptake. You'd have to sow a LOT of glued velcro to gum up a machine though. Unless they're made in China, in which case it's a 50/50 chance - it probably came with glue jamming up the insides from the factory anyway. I've gotten things from China with actual industrial waste used as packaging, and every Chinese power tool I've seen, brand new, on opening, I've found black used truck grease filled with so much iron filings from their ill made engines that I had to replace it straight out the box. Tbh I suspect they add this intentionally as it will destroy the tool within a few months to a year of use. They make things cheap, and cheap only works if you buy in bulk and the items become disposable single use things, so many dodgy companies self-sabotage their equipment to destroy it's longevity. There's no way they can accidentally sabotage their own equipment like that, they added the dirty old grease filled with iron filings knowing full well it'll chew up the internals of the tools like a hot knife through butter. And I've found this in many brands, over many years.
Are you saying use velcro that does not have the sticky glue backing?
Yay! That's awesome Renogy sponsored you by sending you the panels! We used Renogy Eclipse 100w panels on our van and are very happy with them. Looking forward to your videos to come!
I have had dismal experience with Renogy. They don't seem to answer any questions on faulty equipment. I had good performance from a small 50 watt panel, and used that experience to buy a fairly large chunk of Renogy equipment. I am now starting to replace it with alternate manufacturers products as the Renogy equipment fails.
Ken.....thank you for the comments.I'm starting my solar boat project in a month.
Didn't think I would hit a moment in life where I got jealous of a sewing machine but here I am...
Same here! My mil gave me her quilting machine and I thought I was so cool until I saw this machine. Lol
Same here!
Great job on the solar panels. Now for next step improvements. The panels don't like to get hot so what you do to improve air flow under the panels is to put a sheet of corrugated plastic. (Coroplast) this product is just about a quarter inch thick and has channels in it that allow for air to pass through and remove the heat from the panels. This will no doubt improve your panels' efficiency in a noticeable way.😎👍
What they said! Our flexi on our old boat rasher had a burn through because we didn’t vent
Incredible information I would love to have experience with solar power panels I want to make one. Mini weld soder I guess. Seems neat.
Your videos are incredibly well done and very inspiring. Why would anyone thumb them down? It is really mind blowing. Why?
Great job! Those flexible solar panels are really cool, I didn’t even know they existed.
I was like oh... a video about solar panels, should I even watch this? YES! Man u even turn this video into something fun and creative and inspiring! Your editing is AMAZING xx
gosh you are too kind! thank you so much for all the love and support :) -Dana
I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!! I keep telling sailors that cruise that THIS is not only an ESSENTIAL for the ship but also a money maker anyplace in the world when cruising and in need of funds. WELL PLAYED! Oh... love you guys and your channel, you rock! Much love from Canada
One of the things I have learnt from you guys is that if you give yourself time, you read up/watch up on what you need to do and you start and keep going, you can achieve anything! Thank you so much. You have inspired me to learn about lots of practical things around the house that I would have otherwise just assumed that I wouldn't be able to do. Thanks also for all your enjoyable videos. I lived vicariously through you when you went round greece. I haven't been there for 14 years and it was such a pleasure to see. :)
Wow JC you don't know how much this comment means to us :) That really is part of our dream with this channel, to just share how there is so much more that we are capable of than we first think. That we can learn to do what we need to be self-reliant and the joy that comes from figuring it out on your own. Sending big hugs your way! - Dana
aww you guys are great - thank you so much. Big hugs coming right back atcha. :) I was sitting on the edge of my seat when you launched your boat, holding my breath!@@WildWeRoamBy the way, talking of inspiration, have you come across @WalksUK (Chris Walks the UK)? i think you'd like him. He is walking round the coast of the British Isles, raising money for charity and he has been doing it for three years now, healing himself as he goes. HIs photos are astounding. Take care and will look forward to seeing you soon. xx
You guys are my favourite channel, you are such an incredible creators, I’d love to be like you one day! Only just started 3 months ago and very inspired by you ❤️
Thank you so much for this lovely comment! So happy you stumbled upon our channel and are enjoying the videos so much :) Sending big hugs your way - Dana
@@WildWeRoam 😀❤️💙💜
I can’t believe you’re just a few days away from that amazing adventure!
It never ceases to amaze me how CZcamsrs always have the best equipment. That sailrite sewing machine costs a small fortune
I just noticed that you're calling your boat Penelope! Lovely match for Ody :) So inspiring, as always xxxx
This is so so exciting!!! So impressed by your solar panel work 👏 !!!!
The cutting sounds in this video are just soooooo satisfying
Wow your doing so well, getting faster and learning much. You should celebrate x 💕
We bought our sailboat from an old couple and the lady was using sheets of fabric softener to make the spiders go away and it works. I use it in every places possible even if I am not a big fan of those products, especially in the benches and in the cabins. You will see that the bimini gets pretty spidery even when you are sailing. Thanks to her!
I am also not a seamstress and rarely sew, but one tip my momma gave me is that once you've pushed enough of the fabric through to grip it, pull with one hand and push with the other to keep a straight line. Great work guys!
Nice job on the flexible panel retainers.
I got goosebumps when you took the tarp off the boat. Happy adventuring. xx
So I got interested in your videos when I saw you bought the boat, which is a really well made sailboat, great maker. But now that i'm watching a few videos, just love the way they are done, narrated. I will go back and see where you guys came from, but traveling by boat is what I do and love, so cruise on....awesome boat
Thanks for introducing me to this cool sewing machine!
Did you also buy any extra accessories when you got the machine?
I love you guys! Best times on all of your adventures!
So inspiring
How sweet to see you wear one of Fran's T-Shirts, Dana!!
I noticed it too, so sweet!
That's a beast of a system! The boat is looking great guys 😊👏
You guys are amazingly genuine and I've been binging all your old videos recently. You really inspire me how I edit and film my videos, at least I try.
Really cool, can't wait to see what's next
yessss Dana with your beach curls 🥺❤️ so so so happy for you guys!!!
you are so positive guys =)) be happy =)
I love sewing, but with a 'normal' machine, not a heavy duty one.
Respect for going right into it (imho learning by doing is the best way) and congratulations for the successful result!
Great accomplishment!
Congratulations!
Well done! I am impressed. I came a long way, watching all your videos since the start of the Ody-build in the last couple of weeks since I got your channel recommended by Danny & Tulu. Awesome creativity, beautiful content! I hope you guys stay as down to earth as you have been so far on board of a 40k yacht 😉 Best regards from Hannover, Germany! Bent
You too do such a great job on your videos! The calmness of your personalities and film style makes me feel like we're already friends! We just bought a post truck, our 1995 308D, Gato. Heading to Spain, France, Portugal area for 2 years. May film, may not. Photographs definitely. But all in all, just for the experience of living cheap, and light, and enjoying time.
Thanks for all your inspiration..
Thanks for the update on how you are getting on. Have you done the "What to do in an emergency" class? I suggest St. Johns Ambulance First Aid course. Solar Electric is a brilliant way to get free energy. I guess it gets windy too.
Thank you for an interesting idea and adaption of ancient tech (sailing) with solar panels; truly appreciate it.
The music clips make this video so enjoyable! Its beeping amazing. Nice job on the edit Lou.
Today I learned what a Bimini is 😁 keep up the good work guys 👍
Ok GUYS the ASMR I got in this VIDEO!!!! Sounds on point 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 also I’m making my own bim soon and we have the same panels!!! I originally clasped the grommets directly to the canvas and it destroys it so I appreciate this hack!!!
I’m so excited to watch y’all’s new journeys! back to old times! sending love from Texas! ❤️
Dana looks so happy at the end on the boat!
You two are adorable! Super happy for you and looking forward to seeing more.
I think you guys are amazing - if it doesn't exist, we'll just make one!! even if that requires learning whole new skills or diving into the deep past "I know I did something like this one upon a time!" I salute you!
This is so cool! Thank you so much for taking us along on the journey!!
What a great video, it's nice to see the excitement of this adventure. The solar panels and the electrical connections look great, nice of Renogy to supply those. I'm looking forward to the next episode! Take care and good luck.
Very Innovative results. Good idea
You vids getting very exciting!!👍wow good work Dana!
Wow what a great solution to attaching your solar panels! Well done!
Nice you got the LSZ-1 !!! Zigzag will come in handy on a oat. Taught my wife how to sew twenty years ago ( Navy myself) and we"ve built a home business on it.
Its so exciting to know you’re on the water now!!! Safe travels!
Had to watch it before I sleep. Well Done on sewing Dana.
Sailrite are very good sewing machines. Awesome to see she's in the water, would still love to see the boat slowly going back into the water by travelift. nice job on the solar panels

How awesome Dana! Living your dreams!
Great job on the sewing. That looks like a nice heavy duty sewing machine.
That was super neat, I'm sure you did tons of research to figure out what to do! Also the sound of shearing fabric is one of favorite sounds!

Great job you three!!! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
It’s almost an ASMR video....😃 But what a great job you’re doing!
Thank you for the inspiration. ❤️💐🤗
Can't wait!!!!
I like Renogy. I have two 100W rigid panels on my boat, one on each side of the boat mounted to stanchions, feeding into a Renogy Rover charge controller to keep two Firefly batteries nice and happy.
Awesome :) all the effort you three go to in order to make these videos is well worth it! I can’t wait for the next video
Woohoo, so cool to see you're on water now!
So cool guys, can't wait to see you set sail 💙
your videos can even make the mundane seem like an adventure! i look forward to every one!

You Guy's got me hooked ! BIGTIME !
Congratulations on the solar panels and splashing!
great job guys!
Congratulations on the new solar system. I couldn’t help but wonder whether you‘ve changed something in your color grading? You look very pale and almost ghost-like, especially in the indoor shots! Nonetheless, I love your videos ❤️
Wow how exciting! Can't wait for this journey :)
This is so cool! We're going to have 480w of solar on our van very soon! :)
That's so cool!!
You guys are awesome :) wonderful video as usual! thanks for sharing your journey and for the inspiration, always!
love to follow your journey!
Nice job!!!
Dana, I love you shirt of cats' hugging! It's so cute!!
It's by our friend Fran. She gets tshirts from thrift stores, then screen prints her illustrations on to them, and sells them on her store wearenicehumans.com/ Such an amazing project! - Dana
Firstly that's a great idea. Amazing work.im so excited for you. Also Dana you look beautiful, ur hair is lush, love the colour.
I'm currently doing the van thing I'm so excited to one day have a boat. Xx
Sewing is so satisfying when you create something beautiful from nothing.
