  • Broadcast are an indie electronic band, founded in Birmingham, England. Original members were Trish Keenan (vocals), Roj Stevens (keyboards), Tim Felton (guitar) and James Cargill (bass). Various drummers played with the band, including Keith York, Phil Jenkins, Jeremy Barnes, Steve Perkins, and Neil Bullock. As of 2005, the group consisted of Keenan and Cargill, Felton having departed to form a new project, Seeland, with Billy Bainbridge, formerly of another Birmingham Warp act, Plone. After the 2011 death of Trish Keenan, Cargill remains the only member.
    Lyrics:
    Oh let me sail away
On the beach and on the earth
The boats on the sea are blissfully free
They will come to no harm
'Cause the waves are so calm
Oh let me think a while
To the playground of your smile
    The wind through the flame
    Whistles your name
    Though you said goodbye
You did not leave my mind
Oh I've got to get away
From this town don't want to face
    The ominous clouds
    But not now
I've got to find a place
Be myself and learn to face
    The ominous clouds
    But not now
    I want to sail away
Want to look back on the day
    And hide with my hand
    What's left of the land
    Though I leave it behind
It will not leave my mind
Oh I've got to get away
From this town don't want to face
    The ominous clouds
    Oh not now
I've got to find a place
Be myself and learn to face
    The ominous clouds
    But not now

Have you ever been stopped dead in your tracks by a song? You go back and listen to it again and again, just to confirm what you heard was really as good as it seemed, only for it to actually get better and better with each new listening? That's what happened to me with this song. Transcendentally beautiful and full of a nostalgic longing, this song speaks to me on a deep level.

Amo essa música. Fico pensando o que seria se a Trish ainda estivesse entre nós. Um grande talento que se foi tão cedo!

I really don't think that the second line of the first verse is correct.
You wrote "(Oh let me sail away) On the beach and on the earth..."
That doesn't make sense in the rhyming scheme (and Broadcast's lyrics tend to use very tight rhyming couplets), not does it sound like what Trish is singing. I think that it's actually ""(Oh let me sail away) *From the beach and lonely bay..."*
Likewise, you wrote the 3rd verse as starting "(I want to sail away) Want to look back on the day / And hide with my hand / What's left of the land..." I'm pretty sure that it's supposed to be "...Want to look back on the *bay..."* in keeping with the rest of the lyrics.

You are correct about the lyrics.
