  • After another setback in the league for Liverpool, I'm wondering what exactly is going on with our general play, the Salah and Klopp touchline issue and the absolutely BIZARRE referee decision to stop play.
This is the longest video I think I've done, and I am trying to reduce the amount of cuts and edits. Let me know what yous think, if you like the longer vids, and tell me WHAT IS GOING ON!!

I'm 45. Klopp's magic sucked me back into an unhealthy relationship with football wherein the results could affect my mood. I'd grown out of that in my mid 20s. I look forward to caring less and some perspective.

I’ve lived with the fact that I’m going to be invested and things don’t go the way you’d like, that’s football. What has been killing my love of the sport has been not being able to celebrate when goals are scored because we have to wait for the VAR check to be completed and the consistent controversy of incompetent refereeing.

I'm more and more convinced with all the shite decisions we've had since Diaz VAR goal that Webb and his cronies have tried to make sure that the Spurs result isn't defining. Think about it. They would really have some explaining to do if it cost us and after all, Mike Dean admitted that they sway decisions to cover up for each other. It's all bent as fuck. No wonder Jurgen feels burned out.

    Anyway ....
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool not having an extra 2-4 trophies because we lost out by like 3 goals/season will go down as one of the greatest injustices in the football world. Losing the title to City TWICE by a single point is just total lunacy. Klopp deserved more accolades and that team deserved more accolades in the greater football diaspora.

You are a classy man Mr Cantwell.
Whilst we are all losing our heads, whether that's about Salah, Nunez, Klopp, Edwards or Slot,
you are very good at helping us put things into perspective.
This era has been incredible for it's highs and the disappointment of losing 2 league titles by the closest of margins against the 115.
We should and hopefully will remember that when we look back on Klopps time at the helm. That is hopefully going to be regardless of how well his successor does.
Im actually looking forward to seeing what Arne Slot can do with this team. He's proven able to deal with losing multiple strikers in one summer and delivering a title the next. Hopefully our front line changes won't be as dramatic as losing the 4 highest scorers, but we could do with some new/refreshed players across the squad. How we achieve that will be down to what he wants and what we can manage/who we can get in.
Right now I really want it to end so soon, Jurgen's looking tortured on the touchline and it's so unfair that this great manager is going out in the way that these last 2 months have gone. I'd have taken anything to get one more trophy in his final 2 weeks. Even just finishing second place in one of them would have been better than this.

I've become numb to the results in the last few weeks. Professional football in a capitalist world is brutal.
As much as I don't like to say it,but, I think the era of rigorous pressing for the whole match is in its twilight. Last time Klopp's Liverpool performed at the same level for two consecutive years without being plagued by injuries was the 97 pointer and the league winning seasons. After that it's been one hit season followed by one season of slump.
Newcastle are good example of the physical toll of pressing on all the first team players. For this type of football to be successful year after year, two sets of perfectly synced first team players are needed. Or at least 16-18 players who are all top drawer and can fit into the playing squad seamlessly.
I am not blaming anyone or anything, I just stated my opinion, and I would love a logical discussion on it.

  • @oguzo.1882
    @oguzo.1882 Před měsícem +11

The biggest problem with football analysis is that the score bias is massive. If we focus on the facts of the matter.
Fact 1 is while our expectation at the start of the season was probably a fair perspective for the club's position, the good performance on the pitch and Klopp's announcement of his departure spoiled that expectation.
2nd fact is, we didn't have a title winner number 6. Rodri, the number 6 of a rival of ours, we witnessed how many problems they had when he was not there; the other's number 6 is Rice, the most expensive English footballer ever. Liverpool's number 6 is Wataru Endo, with great respect to him. This quality difference naturally brings 5-6 points. Rodri and Rice are really important players and it would be extraordinary if the team with Endo could win the title.
And third fact, there has been a really serious finishing problem this season. Evident from the stats like xG and big chances conversion. Despite the first two facts, the club could still continue in the title race if the finishing was not a problem.
When people look back at this season years from now, they'll see that Klopp didn't do a bad job.

    • @Bleech606
      @Bleech606 Před měsícem +2

You're right about everything but the last point - not that Klopp has done a bad job - but people say things like "Klopp only won one Premier League". That 97 points season was insane. By any metric that season makes that team one of the best teams in Premier League history. Only 2 teams have got more points in a Premier League season than that - Liverpool and Manchester City. Yet we finished 2nd and that's all a lot of people remember unfortunately, even if that says more about them than Klopp or that season.

Imo Liverpool's GREATEST Weakness is their defence, namely; THEY AIN'T GOT ONE!!!!
TAA is terrible as a defender, VVD is asleep half the time, QUANSAH is young and still learning, Komate & Gomez are mediocre at best. Robbo's about the only one trying. I think there's only been ONE CLEAN SHEET the whole season and how many times has the team come from behind to win? Always conceding the 1st goal.
I agree that the strikers have missed chances but guess who's missed more? HAALAND!!!!! That's right. You have to create chances to miss em, AND score em. It works BOTH WAYS!!!!!!

But when the game pans out and you’ve been 3-1 up and it ends up 3-3 you feel properly deflated. This season feels like that. It's fine. If people can just back up a bit, we still had a great season. Sure, we have been wasteful, concede easy goals and stuff have not worked right for some time now, but I think most of it comes from people coming back from injuries too fast. Quality drop 10-15% and that's significant at this level. It sucks, but it is how it is. Klopp, Salah and the players are still incredible and I'm proud of how renewed the team have seen after an abyssmal last season that showed a worrying negative trend with aging players.

International break was where it really started with injuries and the slow decline in performances but still managing to win. Then came the utd games that had us dip again and that was really only a lack of finishing, after those and the europa exit, that was it. Muted reponses in the west ham game, expectation gone. It may be a moot point with Edwards and Hughes controlling appointments and contracts. Can't see them renewing Salah's contract. Possibly several others gone too.

Fans put the blamed on Klopp because of the mid season announcement makes our player play really bad. Nah. Its the PLAYER not THE MANAGER. Yes of course all the strategies and game plan planned by Klopp but who execute it? 😂

First match this season that I haven't watched one way or another. I was at our youngest Great Grandaighter's (twins!) Birthday party. Time well spent.
Like you say, it's a bit of a relief that we've dropped out of the race early rather than later.
Oh yeah, Ornstein reckons Mo is expected to stay, by the way. Just a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel!
    Nice one AC!! 👍👍👍

From all the blunders the ref have made with Liverpool games this season, I believe the ref may have a consent that LFC either wins the league or loses by at least 5 points. They won't allow them lose the league by a slim margin, which would create a huge controversy. When LFC is leading in the league, a lot of ref calls are in favor of them; but once they lost the lead, the opposite happens.

At the start of the season (after last years efforts), if Liverpool fans were offered comfortable 3rd and a League Cup, we'd have taken it. Add in the injuries and they're lucky to be 3rd. All season they played like a 3rd - 5th placed club with an incredible number of lucky points which flattered them. I don't want to hear any bullshit about VAR or anyone else robbing Liverpool. VAR didn't keep going 1-0 down at the start of every match. They are very lucky to be where they are.

Ultimately i think we are badly coached. The small things like the praise Arsenal is getting for their set pieces Im like why can't we do that?? Subs in this game where made far too late once we had the lead fresh legs of Jones and Gomez needed to come on. Our game plan is far to predictable and we are way too slow when we turn it over and break. 👍

The way we are playing we could end up finishing 5th. We can't assume we will get a result at either Spurs or Villa. Then playing Wolves and needing a win anything could happen

If Klopp is tired let Pep Ljinders take over for a bit instead of him getting angry, take a back seat and advise when requested or just fist bump at the end, Salah has never been the same since AFCON so let’s extend by a year and give him a season with new manager and no AFCON

PGMOL is really tempting and easy to blame as seen in the comments, but if you're being brutally honest and look at us in the cold light of day, we've never looked like champions. We've just looked like an imperfect team that could just maybe limp over the line.
Our injury record is atrocious for years now, our tactical gameplan is not good enough, and our midfield and defence are too porous.
City and Arsenal just look and feel better.

Why did Klopp announce he was leaving to the squad? It would have eventually leaked out, so they had to announce it. He could have kept it to himself/ the board (so they could find a replacement), till the end of the season, and none of this would have happened. The squad are kids! The pressure of giving Klopp a big send-off proved too much. Also, how are they expected to run through walls for a manager leaving at the end of the season. I hope it doesn't taint his legacy. The on course there is the vendetta from rhe refereees who hated klopp railing the assistants and ref. The obvious bias against liverpool and for city and arsenal makes me not have an interest in the football because it's not a level playing field.
