You could turn it into a common thing you do where every video you have something different to pull out the box. A never ending suprise case of goodies. My local card shop was selling Evolutions xy booster boxes for $69.99 back in 2016 and they always wondered why I would come clear them out every time they restocked. It would even be a joke and they would already start packing them up when I walked into the store. Back then there was no "buy limit" because no one really made money on modern product. Did I know they would go up in value? Nope. Just knew I loved the set and opened so many boxes and packs I lost count feeling that nostalgia of opening up the original charizard artwork with a bunch of other awesome cards. I was obsessed with opening them with friends and having pack battles until the point I opened so many I lost interest and kept the rest sealed. A year or two later I knew Id never opened them lol seeing as though Pokemon changed forever from that day on. Today I still have at least 70 Evolutions Booster boxes and open one up on special occasions. Dont think Ill ever sell them.

sold all my evolution for 1500usd during pandemic spike. haven't picked up any scarlet and violet yet as i am buying crown zenith (Premium Figure Collection) (lgs clearing them out for 45 usd right now). and silver tempest right now,
Sealed Pokémon collecting is like investing the financial markets. Buy when everyone doesn’t want them and sell when everyone wants them. Supply vs demand and when the sets go out of print, usually after two years, price of sealed products just goes up. Patience is key.... 👍

I thought fusion strike was trash since alot of youtubers talked down on it and chilling. So i brought different products instead of organizing my self and now im in a much better and more enjoyable point of this hobby.

Strange bit of advice. Although your right. But from experience, the reason I didn't buy chilling reign or fusion, is because I was buying brilliant stars at 120 a box and evolving skies at 170-200. Grabbing evolving etbs at €50 from store shelves. I just didn't have the money to put into those other sets. Of coarse they will go up. Like you said, there's not not a single box that hasn't gone up in 25 years. I will pass on paldea and scarlet and violet, because I want a case of obsidian. If I had to choose, I'd pick obsidian over the other 2. So I probably won't ever buy sv base or paldea. Your info is good, buy unfortunately most people have priorities, and a limited supply of money 😂

Just what you said right there. "I probably wont ever buy SV base or Paldea" is what EVERYONE is thinking now. Those are usually the sets that do great, because no one invests in them when they are dirt cheap. Just like Rebel Clash.. I did VERY well on Rebel. I doubled my money in 2 years, which is pretty good IMO! I also will be investing in Obsidian as well, but I think the first 2 sets (especially Paldea) will age better. But I know, no one really knows what will happen...

I personally think 2 things change. Perception absolutely but what lead to it is the hesitation on getting it because the prices drop so people don’t want it. Then the prices go up so it gets hyped up a little and then they don’t want to miss out as it’s going up so they get in at a higher point vs an even higher point. So hesitation and fomo. Both are the perception the market is giving.

I would choose SWSH. Actually I just did choose SWSH lol. Literally just bought more of most all of the alt art sets from the second half of SWSH in the last month.

For me, I would take Brilliant Stars. It's not to say Paldea can't perform better possibly but i think Paldea will be available around that price point longer than Brilliant Stars will at this point.
I’ve said many of the same things mentioned here. There’s not a single Pokémon set that is out of print that hasn’t risen in value. Steam Seige for example was probably the most hated modern set and way beyond dirt cheap. Now it’s eyeing almost $400 a box. If a set is cheap and plentiful consider yourself in a position to benefit greatly down the road and buy the crap out of it.

i think other youtube channels that say bad things about pokemon investing its cause they want discourage ppl to invest longterm, every box that is bought as long term investment is a box they will have to deal with it in the future, isnt going to be opened like someone else will do, no no no, most ppl watching their videos is ppl investing in pokemon, they know they dont affect the hobby, they just getting rid of the future competition

Hello! I am new into this and I am happy that I found you when I was trying to find some videos about investing in Pokemon. I completely agree with everything that you said. What is still on my mind and I was not able to find the answer yet.. is there any exact point when the set starts to gain some serious prices? 15 months after release maybe? Because there is no reason to buy Scarlet base now if the price stays the same for another 12 months.. maybe its better to buy astral radiance or some other product? Thanks and keep doing this pls!! :)
Glad you found the channel. I wish I had an exact answer because it's different for every set. Sometimes a year or less and sometimes longer like 2 to 3 years. The problem is not knowing when and a lot of the time the moves can be quick and durastic and you can miss them. Usually you have 6 months to a year to decide on a set but not always. Sorry there is no one size fits all answer but hope that helps.
Hey Alex, I get that right now we are at a stage where the sets aren’t as exciting(take the first 3 sets of sun and moon as an example) but do you think scarlet and violet will have sets as exciting as team up, unbroken bonds, unified minds and cosmic??? Those were amazing sets and I just don’t know if I see it happening. The tag team concept was awesome and I’m curious as to what scarlet and violet expansions will hold.
I'm sure Pokemon has something up their sleeve. At least I hope they do lol. But ya I agree that it's hard to top some of the great sets we have seen In the last 2 Eras.
I think of S&V base like Sun & Moon Base or Sword & Shield Base they sat low for a long time but the sealed prices went up a lot and the cards were dirt cheap now the singles are rising but not by as much. Sword & Shield first 3 set were super hyped when they came out but now they are mediocre prices still holding on sealed singles have mostly dropped

The optics here are amusing and I like it. But it also kind of serves as a reminder that this stuff will not have door busting price tags ten years from now because thousands of others, myself included, have built their own custom thrones out of sealed product.
This is not to say it will not be worth a lot more than one paid for the product, but it is not going to be $4,000 a booster box or anything like that.
Ya I agree with that. It most likely will never be worth what vintage boxes are worth. At the same time, $100 boxes making it to $200 to $500 in 3 to 5 years is very likely.

I like your mindset. Personally I have never bought booster boxes at above £130ish a box. If I buy in at £90-100 then it’s a guaranteed profit after some time.
Which means there’s a lot of booster boxes I’ll never own (Evolving Skies for example) or any XY or S&M sets but that’s fine with me as they’ve already risen in value. Buying low will give you the biggest chance for a profit % rather than something that’s already jumped in value

Hmmm... I agree to an extent. I think do that will give you the lowest risk and lowest chance of losing too much for sure. I do think getting into boxes after a move can be very profitable as well though. A lot of the sword and shield sets may perform better in the next 1 to 5 years then the SV sets even though the price points are higher.
With that being said I like the route you are taking. Much safer then trying to chase and should do well long term!
But twicebakejake told us yesterday that this wont happen and we have to buy Evolving skies, even on 400+ per box!

This page is more geared towards the “investors” 😂 even though most consider themselves sellers but to buy evolving skies at 400 rn as a investment or business doesn’t make sense. As a business or flipper you gotta get in low as possible so buying one box for 400 hoping it rises 100 in a year is dumb. Use that 400 to buy some new boosters from newer sets or grade cards man. 100% on the PC ETBs. They have done wall since they started mid Sword & Shield. Not sure about the other products but I think others have done well too. Exclusively usually equals value down the road. Not always but more often.

I am forever bullish on pokemon until every generation on the planet has grown up with it. As it stands right now, only millennial and younger care about pokemon. Gen x and boomers couldn't care less. As time marches on, they will be replaced by new generations of kids who grew up with pokemon. I don't see the market becoming saturated until millennials are the oldest generation on the planet.

I don't think so. It is less than .00001% or something of the transactions that happen daily in the hobby. The issue is it gets publicized by all the youtube channels that are thursting for negative content because it sells and gets views. In reality there are thousands of transactions everyday on tons of different sites and the chances of getting scammed, getting a fake or getting a revealed item is slim to none.

Ya you can find sales on EBAY. Sometimes tcg players, sometimes a Facebook or discord group and sometimes just an independent game store website. Really anywhere if you can find a deal.

The only reason why scarlet and violet sets wouldn't sell is just dislike for the generation in general, but that can be said for almost every generation after black and white or x and y. No one liked sun and moon when it came out , no one liked sword and shield because of gigantamax, and no one liked terastilizing now in scarlet and violet. The generalization is always they hate the new thing ,but the games keep selling, the scarcity keeps rising. It's literally fomo, and it can be said for almost anything in terms of buying items. I think as humans we find more value from something that is nowhere to be seen rather than when the same thing was everywhere to be seen. Now the only set I want to see this happen to is the pokemon go one, no one wanted it on release and still don't really atm, but the second it starts retailing at 100 I will laugh so hard
