Good job on the pickup cover. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video. Radio Shack has went out of business since the making of your video. I couldn't find any etching solution locally, so I used muratic acid. Works, but not as good as the etching stuff. I should've looked on line. I'm doing a medium relic on a Strat style kit from Solo...it's turning out pretty nice for my first time! If I do it again...I'll find that etching solution somewhere...that stuff works quick!
I'd love a full video about de chroming brass, I'm doing a brass pick guard and want to get the chromed brass pick up covers & rings brass again to match...
Great clear and informative video - thanks . (Your close-ups were a bit out of focus though , so take care over closeness to camera). One of the best relicing vid`s I`ve seen.
Thanks, you make it look easy. What is wax potting? Unfortunately, how to finish up the process was missing from this demonstration. But thanks for showing us 80%.
Hi! Nice job! What brand is this pickup covers? I tried to follow your method, on genuine gibson nickel pickup covers but It doesn't work, like the solution doesn't have effect on the metal or like the cover has some film that protect the cover... so... what brand of pickup cover did you use? Thank you!
What are the dimensions of the covers? Would the standard non-covered humbucker opening in a strat scratchplate need modifying to fit them?
do you just clean it with water afterwards to halt the process?
So how do you halt the process at that stage if you don’t want it to eat away anymore?
Can I use a q-tip and rub some ferric chloride on each pole piece? I ask this because my humbucker has no covers on it and the screws I can take off, but not the slugs. I want to do this to my pole pieces but don't want to ruin my pickup. So yay or nay to using q-tips?
hi, I would like to do the contrary, make them shine. Any advice?
Would it be too much to use this stuff on the bridge, tailpiece, tuners etc?
not sure if your going to get this message or not but who is that song in the beginning and the end of the video?
Can you do it if it's already on the pick up or will it mess up the pick up?
Thanks for your useful video. Have you ever tried to just sand it without any chemical? With sandpaper or steel wool Always in the same direction to get a perfect matt finish? Thanks
Hi can you do the same with gold covers? All the best Jakob
What is the 'solution' that you used?
what is sollution? like a dilluent?
Aren’t you supposed to rinse those things in water to neutralize the solution and stop the etching process rather than leave it on there?
what does relic mean
