from his effortless wordplay, the great and deep use of samples, the multilayered way of making album across all his personas of characters, there will never be one like him. R.I.P MF DOOM.
To chime on on what Connor was saying about MF DOOM and how his death feels, he is such a force of personality it really does feel like he isn't gone. A testament to how much larger than life DOOM is, the mysterious evil villian. RIP
Absolutely doesn’t feel like DOOM is gone. It still feels like any day a new DOOM project can drop. He is just one of those figures in Hip Hop that was a recluse living legend. It was nice knowing he could always put the mask on here and there and then take it off and live his life with his family as Daniel. RIP DOOM gone way too soon ❤
What I love about Kon Karne is the random beaming noises in the background. The song is about his later brother, DJ Subroc, and DOOM giving a heartfelt tribute to him. The beaming background noises I like to see as is gasps for air. Almost as an effort to stop crying. Truly beautiful
Man, on his debut album, the song "?" makes me tear up near the end. I've read a lot about Dumile. Having his brother die, label dropping their group, becoming homeless and all to return to get revenge as MF DOOM. What a creative and proactive way to go about it. But sadly he dealt with depression and alcoholism. What's fucked up is nobody seems to know the real reason his brother died. Many claimed he was actually running away at the time then got hit by a car when crossing. But some say that's bs. That they got to him. And whatever it was, it was best left alone. Also no snitching was a bigger deal back then. So it would've never been made public even if dealt with afterwards. But I have a feeling he had to move on and leave that shit behind, which killed him inside. Dumile was then not allowed back into the US a few years ago which made him stay in his home country, the UK. He lived in London until he passed, iirc. Definitely read about him and watch the different videos fans have put together. Little documentaries and such. Gives you an idea as to what was happening. You'll have to dig through the internet to find more details and possible things that happened to Sub Roc.
That last part gets me every time too. That he keeps a picture of his brother and how everything is going according to plan, but his brother isn't there to witness it. Doom did it for his brother. 😭
usually you manage to stitch songs together so seamlessly that I don't really notice, but this one is just so insane. I noticed every single skip, the songs have just such a strong story-like rising and falling that just feels jarring when a part gets skipped. Or maybe I just like this album a little much.
I get you it’s the lack of choruses and the fact DOOM just relentlessly rhymes. Kinda overwhelming on first listen tbh for me but consistently in my top 3 most listened artists for years now

Completely agree with your comment about DOOM’s passing. He managed to stay so low key but create a legacy so legendary, he became almost like a mythical creature. He created an immortal character that lives forever through his music.
I think a major reason DOOM never really feels like he's gone unlike someone like Mac is that in Mac's songs you can feel it's him Mac the person so upon relistening it really hits you. Unlike DOOM who is not a person but more like an idea someone who exist only in the music, thus making it feel as if he's never felt because he exist only though the music. But sometimes in the music we meet Daniel Dumile, in songs like ?, Op Doomsday, and kan carne. Those songs all have a focus on Daniels brother, it's now Daniel rapping not the character of DOOM and in those moments we realize that he's gone similar to how you feel with Mac. Or at least that's how I think I works

Funny what you said about it not feeling like DOOM is gone. To me he was always such an enigma and mythicised rapper it never really felt like he was actually here in the first place. And I've seen him in concert... twice! Great video!
I first started listening to DOOM back when I was in middle school, I was playing Spider-Man miles morales and I saw a tiktok of “best songs to swing to” and Kon Queso was one of them, I didn’t like it at first but I just kept listening and there’s something about DOOM that just brings you in so consistently, I literally couldn’t stop listening. Soon later I started listening to all his albums, even under Victor Vaughn and his other aliases. He’s been my number 1 on Spotify for close to 5 years now.
Most of the "skits" you can find in this album are part of a video you can find on youtube called " spiderman vs dr doom 1981 canon of doom " . DOOM mixed and matched clips and sounds to make it sound like his own story but he got so much out of this 20 minutes video its insanely impressive. I think i watched it like 10 times already 😂

There shouldn’t be a best because then there wouldn’t be a reason to listen to anyone else
I was waiting for this one ! Happy Fathers’ day from France !
I could have sworn I already watched you react to this, but nope. Loved it guys! DOOM is something else.
First DOOM record i heard. Definitely top 10 rap/hip hop record of all time for me.
Love it and this is one of the best albums ever created. When’s the Passion, Pain, and Demon Slayin video coming out tho?
such a good video keep bringing these out
i have been waiting for this video for so long
I first started listening to DOOM back when I was in middle school, I was playing Spider-Man miles morales and I saw a tiktok of “best songs to swing to” and Kon Queso was one of them, I didn’t like it at first but I just kept listening and there’s something about DOOM that just brings you in so consistently, I literally couldn’t stop listening. Soon later I started listening to all his albums, even under Victor Vaughn and his other aliases. He’s been my number 1 on Spotify for close to 5 years now.
Fun fact Mm..Food is an anagram of MF DOOM
Been waiting on this reaction from you guys
I love how Dooms albums are like listening to someone flip through vintage TV. It's such a visual soundscape
This is my favorite doom album glad you guys did this. Cheers

Finally yes one of DOOMs best albums I’ve actually been waiting for this
