  • The "Melodic Sequencer + 32 Notes" Mode/Layout is often overlooked and yet can be a huge amount of fun to use.
    This is an excerpt from the chapter (1 hour long) on this mode in the Push 3 Bible, found here: wrkshp.thinkific.com/courses/...
    The video is a mix of beginner and some intermediate level topics and focusses mostly on note input and editing. Later videos go into detail on automation, including creative challenges which can be taken on in the Push 3 Bible Community.
    This mode works on Push 2 and Push 1 as well.
    Let me know your thoughts on this mode, and your ideas for other modes and perhaps a slightly more exciting name for this one!

    Ableton live 12 seems to have strong upgrades in the sequencing department. Also has an euclidean mode. Can you operate these new features from the push 3 you think?

    • @wrkshp
      @wrkshp  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Great question - so far Push doesn't have any access to these new modes or ways of working. Very curious to see if they eventually come - no news so far on this as yet.

    is it possible to quickly mute/unmute a note you have placed in, similar to the BSP/KSP workflow?

    • @wrkshp
      @wrkshp  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Absolutely - but often overlooked - if you hold down the Mute button and tap a step, it will be deactivated!

      Ah interesting - how’s the torso working out?

    • @JamesLevineAndSons
      @JamesLevineAndSons Před 4 měsíci +1

      I have both! Because of Link, along with the 3.5mm midi or USB on Push acting both as a host AND bus power, I consider them part of the same ecosystem. Torso can create a local network for Push, your live session, and anything else you're working with.
      @AndriSoren, Torso is more creative for sequencing, undeniably. Push 3 is more utilitarian. It can do just about everything other than Euclidean (unless a m4l device is stable enough to support it, or has implemented a bank for controller mode). My beats on Push 3 are just so much more rudimentary, but that's not a bad thing. It takes practice. And the simplicity can be the building blocks of something more complex.

      @@itsdrawkcab5899 Currently, and at least as far as the public release notes for the Beta on Push 3, I do not think you can. Those Clip Generators look so interesting. I wish I could take advantage of the beta program; this computer is a relic and doesn't support OSXI. The neat thing about Generators and Transform tools is that it might soon be available for other developers, much in the way people make m4l devices. But I think I can uphold my beta agreement by saying that this has yet to be seen on the Push tester release schedule. They have a beta release schedule which I don't keep up with due to the fact that I'd need Live 12 to get them off my Push.

    This course is to expensive. You would make way more money if this course was 99.99

    • @wrkshp
      @wrkshp  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hello and thanks for your feedback.
      Price is arguably objective (as we can find products and prices to compare) and value is subjective. It's a super interesting topic so below are some thoughts and reflections.
      It's important to recognise that "the price" is also influenced by economic factors and I wish that there was an easier way to adjust for the varied buying power across the globe, and I'm hoping to offer this some day.
      Some objective facts:
      The course is the biggest there is (by a long, long way)
      The course has more features than any other (built-in support, a community, creative challenges)
      The course is (by a long, long way) the most affordable course per hour of content.
      The course has the highest production values of any course on Push (or any physical hardware, potentially!)
      Now, because of the above, the total price is indeed higher than many others, and also puts it into a category of being more expensive as a dollar value.
      The subjective decision:
      The subjective choice is whether the course is of value to you. If the time it will save you is of value (or not). If the creative focus it offers is of value.
      There are two questions here I suppose:
      1) for you: is an alternative, cheaper course better value to you personally?
      2) for me: would I be able to make more income if it would be priced lower?
      I can't answer question 1. I made the course I would have liked to have had when I started with Push, but that's all I can say on the matter.
      Question 2: let's say a lower price leads to 4-5 times as many students. That means 4-5 times as much support, management, lifetime hosting costs, etc. As of today I work alone and I'm not able to easily test out this theory at scale. I am always reflecting on how I could better manage all this, and that's an ongoing challenge.
      As I said, it's a super interesting, complex (and also at times emotional) topic. I try to find the right balance but I'm grateful for feedback on it too. I don't want to sound defensive either, but instead take your statement as a constructive challenge. Being asked good questions in life is a privilege.

      For the price of the Push 3 Standalone, I can understand the price of the course. But I bought a Push 3 Control Version for $800, in that case I can not justify the price. For $100-$150 I would buy the course for sure. Hope you will consider a price-drop.

    • @Allogettingmoney
      @Allogettingmoney Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@PololiNuskil Thats exactly my point, after some pays over 2000 bucks for the push 3 another 300 dollars just to learn it is pretty steep. ppl will scrap the internet clean trying to learn for free before shelling out another 300 bucks. 100 to 150 is a fair price and would surely get more ppl in the shopping cart.

      @wrkshp  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@PololiNuskil thanks for the feedback.
      While I did mention the price of Push as being relevant, actually it really isn't.
      The value of the course is in the transformation that it offers, and whether that's valuable to you or anyone else (or not).
      The value comes in the form of many things, but a big part is 10 years of knowledge, of trying things, of finding workaround, workflows, frustrations and joys.
      The Push Bible saves an insane amount of time saved. Of course time isn't worth the same world-wide or to each individual.
      There is a sale once or twice a year however. Do join the mailing list if you'd like to be made aware of that.
      Cheers 🙏

      I agree. I’ve no doubt it’s an excellent course and he’s put a lot of work into it but I can’t justify the sale price, let alone the full price.
      I’m sure he’ll sell lots of these courses, but not as many as if the price were dropped.

    1:35 Note the way in which he casually says "I'll just make this clip twice as long"... he reaches up, hits a button, and twiddles a knob WITHOUT EXPLAINING which button and why, what knob and why, and how this works. This type of presumption will KILL THE EFFECTIVENESS of a tutorial or lesson. If you're a beginner, he just completely blew your mind and stranded you, thinking "wait?!? What??? Make the clip twice is long? That sounds useful, which knob was it? How did he do that? WAIT, WHAT???" and so on. See... this is NOT what I want to see if I'm thinking of spending $299.00 on a tutorial. No, this does not bode well at all.
