(This vehicle is rated for speeds below 15 MPH. The manufacturer is not responsible for the damage caused by high speeds.)
Remind me a bit of the german autobahn: you should go 130 at max but you won't be punished if you go faster... unless you cause an accident, then you get a worse sentence than you would if you went under 130.
@@macks6234 tbh if you cause an accident above 130 you will die so it's alright 😂
That's genuinely how car warranties work. Your car *can* drive at 120mph, but if you run it at 120mph and then run to your dealer, claiming your tires are getting worn out too fast: "get the fuck out" is what you should expect.

You should answer it with the question "what's XMP?", now you're not technically lying.

Like, really. A good analogy: this "warranty void" also applies to X570 / Z490 motherboards. You touch a multiplier and a voltage? *Fuck* your motherboard warranty. It's gone. Nobody warranties any overclocking. Nobody.
Intel also designs K-series CPUs. Does that mean Intel needs to warranty those OC-gone-bad fuckups, too? No. What about AMD's? Unlocked multipliers for everyone = everyone can now void their CPU warranty *together*!

hopey1809 I think you missed the point of this whole video. Yes, the K series Intel chips are unlocked. The point of this video was to point out that by overclocking any part of the CPU (XMP is essentially overclocking the memory controller on the CPU die), then you are voiding the warranty - especially so if you run the memory higher than the spec sheet for the CPU.

What speed was your ram?
Such a timely video after that issue with Gamers Nexus and NZXT BLD regarding XMP voids warrenty. Thankfully, they sorted that out and NZXT changed their stance on the issue.
Also, if you need support from Intel/AMD and you've enabled XMP/DOCP and they want you to send diagnostic data or the like over, be sure to clear the CMOS (or just load factory defaults in BIOS).

What is the first thing that a hard DISK drive does/looks for when it's started up?
I've seen that hdds usually stay with the head near the spindle/(rotator thing) for a few seconds at startup and then it continues the rest...
Do hdds first look at the file allocation table when started up?
Maybe their cache and start going through the table of directions trying to read the operative system parts

This, indeed, was a bit of a surprise recently. After enabling AMD's flavor of xmp the system wouldn't even boot in to the 'bios' anymore, that was greeeeat. In the process I learned way more about memory latency then I would have liked. Took some attempts to get it going. Later a bios update became available, with that updated it did run fine at the default 'xmp' profile.
Looking the qualified vendor list would have prevented this.
I’m just really really glad a good friend of mine warned me of the qvl and the issues that comes with ram and cpu in the board. I hope more people who are new like me who wants to build the pc on their own will see this post.

You'd think they'd have something in BIOS/UEFI that limits/locks the RAM clock to the CPU memory controller. How hard is it to do that?
AMD not only honored the warranty on my FX 8350 in spite of bent pins even though the RMA page said it would not, but they also sent me a stock cooler even though they said they would not. But I didn't even remember to consider what that processor's spec was for max memory speed.

@@royisdabest typing this on a oneplus 8. Solid phone, good support and they actually encourage custom roms. It doent void your warranty. The OnePlus 1 got Android 10 the other day through lineage os
All of those phone warranties with custom ROMs have to be able to be reversed. They never supported custom ROMs, they just wouldn't void your warranty as long as you reflashed their firmware before sending back your device. The problem lies in if your phone bricks with a custom rom then you're pretty much screwed.

If you're really worried about running overclocked RAM, just check the maximum voltage of the CPU and buy overclocked memory with an XMP profile that doesn't require more than that voltage to run. That's what I did with my i7-4790K finding DDR3-2133 memory that only required 1.50 voltage.

Is shaving off timing considered overclocking? I'm running my CL15 ram at CL13 speeds
One thing I discovered is that my computer consumes 10W more at the certified RAM speed (3000 Mhz) than at the default RAM speed (2133 Mhz). And yes, I have tested this quite a lot of times and it's always the same. If you're curious, my computer has an MSI B450 mortar with a Ryzen 5 2600 and 16 GB (8 GB x 2) of Patriot Viper 4. Does someone know why this happens if the CPU is running at the same frequency? I understand the memory controller has to go faster but... 10W???
0:08 psh the burger on the right looks better
#2 is incorrect because, as you said, the IMC is on the CPU. So overclocked RAM is still sending more voltage to the CPU which is considered overclocking, even if the amount is negligible.
Yup..... Intel denied my warranty on a 8700k due to running memory at 3000mhz on a 3400mhz kit.... I said I didn't bump it up but they were able to find out and were spot on...
