  • The car developed a vibration from the drive shaft area under the car between 30-50km/h, changing the transmission mount in the video fixed that issue for me.

    I had vibrations at 2000 rpm. The MB dealer did not found any fault. They want me to change the converter. After i watched this video i change the transmission mount and the vibration problem was solved.
    Thank you so much for sharing this fix.

      Glad you avoided that expensive converter fix . I would recommend replacing both the engine and trans mounts every 75k km since that's how often they fail on my car.

      Quick question have you ever felt like when the motor change the gears you feel like a little push is this cause of trans mount ?

    Do this. Replace Transmission mount and (engine mounts if needed ) and you will get a smooth ride and probably get rid of steering wheel vibration. If your car vibrates at idle and you have an aging MB it may be good to replace 02 sensors as well. If you get check engine light after that it may be just a fuel cap. This is not a very expensive repair. It is all mechanical. Good point about the bushings.

    What are some of the signs it’s going bad or is already bad? Vibrations ? Clunk when on a hill and changing from park to drive?

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  Před 2 lety

      All of those could be symptoms of bad mounts, for me I only had a vibration between 30-50km/h. From my experience the mounts( 2 engine mounts and transmission mount) go bad around every the 75k km. So now I would just replace them every 75k whether I had problems or not. Plus really bad mount can damage other stuff over time if left unfixed like driveshaft bushings.

    I recently noticed vibrations at idle in my steering wheel. Could this be doing it?

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  Před rokem +1

      Bad mounts could cause the vibrations. I would recommend replacing both the engine and transmission mounts if you haven't replaced them in over 60k km. The mounts on my car usually go bad around 70k km.

    Thanks this seems really easy to do I have a w207 e coupe was going to try this myself. Is it not dangerous to jack up from the transmission pan though? I thought it was made of aluminum and could break. Also is it better to jack up the rear of the car for this or is it closer to the front?

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      Haven't thought of jacking from the rear, If i wasn't lazy I would jack the car from the front and back but it is doable just by jacking the front. Jacking from the transmission to support it when removing the mount is fine but you have to make sure to use something like a wide enough piece of wood to distribute the weight on the oil pan, otherwise you will damage the oil pan by using the jack on it directly.

    can you please tell me if this can cause engine to vibrate when i accelerate above 1700 RPM. Vibration occurs no matter in witch gear i'm . i have vibration even if i'm on P and accelerating standing. I already change engine mounts from front. it only helps, but the vibration are still there.
    Thanks

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  Před 7 měsíci

      It can cause the vibration and you should be changing the the trans mount with the engine mounts. You've already got the harder more expensive engine mounts done, trans mount is cheaper and easier to change. The trans mount might not be the cause of your issue but I would definitely go ahead and change it in your situation.

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  Před 7 měsíci

      @petrut_u3137 if it doesn't fix it I would recommend getting in checked by someone, you could have stored fault codes without a check enginelight. But you mentioned even in park it vibrates so I don't think it's the driveshaft bushing. I don't know what brand of engine mounts you used but if its aftermarket they could be bad new. I would check the drive belt and all the barings in front of the engine. Other than that I can only think it would be internal from the engine.
