  • Volcano update from Iceland. 06.04.24 Sundhnukagigar Eruption site in 4K resolution! As seen from the air toda, on the first day of Blue Lagoon open. Some of hotels next to Blue Lagoon are only 2 km from the erupting volcano (Northern Lights Inn is the closest). All hotels in Blue Lagoon are now open to tourists and public! 01:20 - Flight no. 1 from Northern Lights Inn Parking, 1.8 to 2 km away: maps.app.goo.gl/oXy8DsPcoKX3h...
    09:38 - Flight no. 3 from the north, quarry next to road 43: maps.app.goo.gl/CtSm9AoAfCfBL... Great distant-viewing deck for the volcano, 3 km away.
    PS The small crater to the south died. So its only one crater erupting, the one seen in drone video.

    Sharon, I have such fond memories of visiting Iceland as a child, you truly have a beautiful country. These days traveling anywhere is out of the question.
    I always tell people who are younger than me, if you are going to do any traveling, do it while you are younger, because you never know what will happen down the road. There are always ways to do things on the cheaper side. Please be careful and as safe as you can. Sharon USA

    The Blue Lagoon is in a bad position. To open or not. The biggest concern is the gas exposure. I would not be interested in visiting right now. Any injuries of visitors is a serious probability of lawsuits. Hope the owners are considering this.

    one has to remember 800 years ago the eruption lasted 30 years from 1210 to 1230 on Eldvörp-Svartsengi. Svartsengi lava flow alone covered 50 Square Kilometers. this eruption cycle may be just the start of a new series of Reykjanes fires, which was 1210 to 1230.
    In geological history what is 800 years to us, is just a few moments, and the European and North American continental plate pull apart, lava fill the void building new land. this eruption cycle could last for years nonstop.

    Concerning the underground 'plumbing' system - it seems to be transforming from episodic to continuous. This would be consistent with conduits that have now been magma-eroded, removing obstructions and bottlenecks.

    The occurrence of stoms,rains,ice, and floods at times and in unexpected places,confirms my theory the end of the (dynamic horizontal movement )which needs to balance and it sill under control to balance...
    But about earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, sinkholes, tsunami, dry lakes and rivers, flow of water from the mountains and hills,explodeand of eyes water from the ground, formation of new mountains or islands, collaps of mountains ,and cracks on ground,& ,& ,&,they are out of control or balance...

    Wondering just that the principal scenario is that sooner or later the whole island, Island, is splitting in two or perhaps several parts. No one knows, how and when it happens ? On the earth the tectonic plates are floating on the same magma. Eruptions all over the world are combined to each other. Take a round balloon. Set some water with soap on. Set pieces of paper over the balloon so that the pieces push each other or that the pieces are a bit on each others. Move one piece with a finger tip or separate two pieces.. Find out, what happens to the other pieces. 🤔

    • @IcelandExplorer
      @IcelandExplorer  Před měsícem

      No Iceland will not split...tectonic divergence is only 2 cm per year and those 2 cm movement is not one specific line or area but spread over the entire country for over 700 km from east to west...countless micro fissures stretching over enormous area...so Iceland is getting wider by tiny bits every century. Compare it more to a stretch than a split along one line
