Jackie Chan is a master martial artist, and ground-breaking at stunt work.
When you say "he must have had a harness" you're thinking that because any ordinary modern Western actor would use a harness.
But Jackie's an old-school Hong Kong cinema legend. You wouldn't believe the stunts he's done, without a harness.

What most people don't understand about Carter is that he's arrogant, and uses his insecurity about his father's death as a reason for acting high and mighty. That all changes when he meets and works with Lee to rescue the consul's daughter, and gains respect for him as a partner and a brother figure. Of course that happens over the course of three movies, but this movie establishes the respect Carter has for Lee.

Jackie Chan had done tons of movies before this and some of them like Rumble In The Bronx did see releases is the U.S., but Rush Hour was pretty much his official introduction to Western audiences. He's basically reached legendary status for being known for doing nearly all of his own stunts and supposedly breaking every bone in his body.

Rumor has it that Jackie said that if rush hour, was a flop that he would never attempt to do an American movie again. Luckily it was a massive success though.

The Rush Hour-trilogy is one of Jackie Chan most known western movies, worth to mention. Shangai Noon (2000) and Shanghai Knights (2003) with co-starring Owen Wilson.
But there are many Hong-Kong made actionfilm with him (he was around 140 film so far from the 70s).
There are many HK-films with english dubs, the best, more funny ones are: Armour of God II (1991), Who Am I? (1998), Rumble in the Bronx (1995), The Legend of Drunken Master (1994),

3 parts of this movie that really make me crack up laughing are:
    1. When Carter starts dancing like Michael Jackson in the middle of the street after blowing the car up
    2. When Lee and Carter are bonding and practicing disarming techniques while Edwin Starr's song "War" plays in the background
    3. When Carter says "I know that ain't the bomb. Get that bomb away from me." Towards the end

And trust me, the blooper reels for the remaining two movies are just as funny when it comes to the slip-ups with the dialogue.

In the early 1960s, there was a "surfing" trend: movies about the California lifestyle, with young people surfing in the Pacific Ocean. The Beach Boys captured the feeling of surfing and the spirit of that time and place. There were several others composing and singing that type of song.
The song on the radio is "Surfin' U.S.A.", released early in 1963.
The song "War" was written by two composers who worked for the record label Motown. It was first recorded by The Temptations in 1969, but it was re-recorded the following year by Edwin Starr and became a big hit. It is Starr's version that Lee and Carter are dancing to.
The usual way of saying thank you is "xiexie," but Carter said "xiexie ni." "Ni" means "you." It's a way of emphasizing the thank you.

Site founder Senh Duong is a big Jackie Chan fan and built the website to collect reviews for all of Chan's Hong Kong films as they were released in the United States. He coded the site in two weeks putting it up shortly before the release of this film. Rotten Tomatoes is now one of the most notable sources for movie reviews and its Tomatometer rating is used to judge a film's success and used in advertising and award promotions.

That's My Jackie Fact: According to director Brett Ratner, this movie was the first movie to be released in the U.S. featuring Jackie Chan in an English-speaking role without any kind of dubbing. According to Ratner, before this movie, Chan always had his voice dubbed over in his English-speaking roles because of his uncertainty in speaking the language. However, Chan spoke in his real voice for his previous Hollywood films Battle Creek Brawl (1980), The Cannonball Run (1981), Cannonball Run II (1984), and The Protector (1985). For this movie, Ratner claims to have convinced Jackie Chan to forgo the dubbing, as it would lend to the authenticity of his character. Jackie Chan said the scene when his character first meets Chris Tucker's character was very similar to the first time the actors met in real life at the offices of the William Morris Agency. Chan said Tucker was talking so fast that after the meeting ended, Chan told his manager: "I don't understand any of the words coming out of his mouth!"

Great reaction to one of Jackie Chan's best movies. is a classic film of the so-called "buddy cop" genre: a couple of mismatched police officers who solve a case and end up as friends. Recommendations of similar films for future reactions Miss Bisscute: Rush Hour 2 AND 3, the complete saga of Lethal Weapon (4 films with Mel Gibson), Tango and Cash (with Silvester Stallone) and the last boy scout with Bruce Willis. You Will like them 😊

ROFL! Carter's "quick credentials" looks like the dude from Police Academy that makes all the sound effects.

The second one is worth watching (I'd pass on the third). And you'd like both of his western films as well.
