Fun Fact: Linda Hamilton's twin sister, Leslie Hamilton Gearren, was used as a double in scenes involving two "Sarah Connors" (for example, when the T-1000 was imitating her). Identical twins Don Stanton and Dan Stanton played the hospital security guard and the T-1000.
No Camera Tricks Fact: Robert Patrick undertook a rigorous running regime and practiced breathing only through his nose, in order to appear to be a cyborg that could run at high speeds without showing fatigue. He had trained so hard that he was able to catch up to Edward Furlong on his dirt bike with ease.
Stripper Night Fact: A female passer-by wandered onto the biker bar set thinking it was real, despite walking past all the location trucks, cameras, and lights. Seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger standing in the bar dressed only in boxer shorts, she finally asked what was going on, only for Schwarzenegger to reply that it was male stripper night.
Nuclear Nightmare Fact: Special effects guru Stan Winston and his crew studied hours of nuclear test footage in order to make Sarah Connor's "nuclear nightmare" scene look as realistic as possible. A miniature Los Angeles was made to simulate the scene. Some of the materials used in the miniature that mimicked all the destroyed masonry were Matzos crackers and Shredded Wheat. After each take, it would take on average two days to set the model up to shoot again. In late 1991, members of several US federal nuclear testing labs unofficially declared it "the most accurate depiction of a nuclear blast ever created" for a fictional movie. The special effects team members have stated several times that no scene they've worked on since has received an equivalent amount of praise or emotional feedback from viewers.

Lots of great facts on this thread, so I'm gonna go ahead an add another fun one.
Thats Dedication: Xander Berkeley, the actor that portrayed John's foster father, Todd Voight had to practice sword swallowing for one scene in particular. When the foster mother (Jenette Goldstein) is talking to John and the Terminator on the phone, she stabs Todd off screen. When they hang up, we get the slow pan over to see Todd impaled against the cupboard. 3 prosthetics were created for the scene so they could get the shot. After the blade is removed, and Todd slumps to the ground, the actor had to remain in that position for 5 hours so they could finish the rest of the scene.

I think Bisscute didn`t catch the different intonation and for that reason she thought that Sarah meant to say "Estoy aquí" ("I am here"") and not "Estás aquí" ("You are here") when she actually said "¿Estás aquí?". That usually confuses to non-Spanish speakers that have different form for interrogative sentences not relying solely on intonation.

  • @donavonhoward114
    @donavonhoward114 Před rokem +10

A big theme in this movie is how much humans can act like machines, and machines can become more like humans. Because of Sarah Connor's trauma in the first film, she has compensated by neglecting her own emotions, and trying to be so strong that she forgets a piece of her own humanity, compassion, and the value of human life. At first, she is scolding her son for saving her from the mental institution, and putting himself in danger, and she shows him little love. She automatically judges Miles Dyson for creating Skynet, even though he did what he did with the best of intentions (some of the most terrible atrocities happen with the best of intentions). Sarah literally becomes just as systematic as a Terminator trying to alter the future by killing an innocent man, but she remembers her humanity by seeing that Miles Dyson is just a normal man with a family and children, and he means well despite being partly responsible for the deaths of billions. After Sarah has a breakdown, she looks at John for the first time in years, and tells him she loves him while breaking down in tears. She also realizes that the Terminator (Arnold) would never hurt John, and would die to protect him. Sarah starts as a machine in the first half of the film, and rediscovers her own humanity, and she realizes that there is no black and white between good and bad in the world. Morality has a lot of grey area in between good and evil. In reality, it's actually innovation, and humanities trust in technology that caused the end of civilization in the Terminator timeline. It cannot be directly attributed to any one person being at fault. In the third Terminator film (you should watch it), the inevitability of Judgement Day is further expanded upon.

This model shotgun is still being manufactured.

Sarah says there were two terminators sent back and indeed refer to 1 in the first moveie and 1 in the second but she never mentions a third terminator. Ironically, a lot of people misunderstood Sarah to mean 2 terminators in this movie, so they suspected the cop terminator from the start. They were right but for the wrong reason.

So yes this ending makes it clear that Judgement Day did not happen showcasing D.C in 2028 just a year before the Future War depicted in T1 and T2 where we see John Connor as the leader. Pretty much it closed the door on any future films and is pretty confusing for people who watch the future films like T3 and Terminator Salvation. While the theatrical release and directors cut featured a more unsure ending set just after the film where Sarah says "The unknown future rolls toward us. I face it for the first time with a sense of hope, because if a machine, a Terminator, can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too" pretty much setting up the possibility that Judgment Day could still happen. This ending follows into Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation so it's the canonical ending of this timeline.
The ending you saw can be seen as the "good" timeline where Judgement Day never happened and John Connor grew up alongside his mother getting married and raising a family. Skynet messing with the past leaves us with who knows how many possible futures and timelines so it fits the lore of the series that they're could be endless amounts of possible futures for these characters. I personally welcome both endings but I much prefer the original ending myself as this one feels very last minute, feeling very unfinished. Also the original works better with the next movies but if you're one of those people who aren't too into the sequels the good ending can be a nice closing to these two movies. As a fan of the amazing The Sarah Connor Chronicles set after T2 the theatrical ending works much better for me.
    *Happy Timeline:*
    Terminator 1 - 1984
    Terminator 2 - 1995
    T2 Alternate Ending - 2028
    *Movie Timeline:*
    Terminator 1 - 1984

    Terminator Genisys
    *Dark Fate Timeline:*
    Terminator 1 - 1984
    Terminator 2 - 1995
    Terminator: Dark Fate
So pretty much if you do plan on watching Terminator 3 and Salvation just forget about that alternate ending, think of it as a *possible future* that happened in another timeline. I personally say watch the other ones as you may be surprised could enjoy them or may be mixed on them who's to say but yourself. The timelines give you an idea of what movies are connected so you could follow the movie timeline with T3 and Salvation or jump into Genisy or Dark Fate.

@@natmanprime4295 If that's the case, then the whole thing is pointless. Why send anyone back in time at all if whether or not they succeed with their mission won't change anything for the people in the present?
If it worked the way that you are suggesting, then sending someone through time would straight up erase their existence from this universe. They won't be there anymore and there would be no recording of them ever being in the past that they were sent to. Because, as you said, they can never go back to the same future. But that in return means that the future where that person is from, has a different past than the one that this person is in now. A past that didn't include that person and their action.
So, in my mind, if time travel was possible, it could only work in one way: The past can't be changed because every attempt to change it led to the exact thing that actually happened. Everything else would lead to a time paradox.

Most media players have an option in the audio settings like "night mode" where it boosts the quiet parts, and limits the sudden loud parts. It's designed so you can watch TV when others are sleeping, and keep the volume predictable. It may not be the mix itself that's making the vocals quiet. If it was mixed for 5:1 and you're listening through 7:1 it could be that the vocals are pushed through the wrong speakers. My only solution to that would be to try switching different sound modes in your media player.

Originally, when the first 'Terminator' movie was being cast, Arnold was supposed to play the hero soldier and actor Lance Henriksen was cast as the Terminator - he was supposed to be an ordinary-looking cyborg assassin who was dispatched to kill Sarah Connor... But after reading the script, Arnold told director James Cameron that he wanted to play the Terminator... So, Arnold became this unstoppable killing machine... Lance Henriksen was recast as police detective Vukovich (Lance Henriksen was later cast as the android 'Bishop' in the 1986 movie 'Aliens')
and actor Michael Biehn was cast as the soldier 'Kyle Reese' opposite Linda Hamilton as 'Sarah Connor'.
'Terminator 2' went back to the original concept - Arnold was the 'good' Terminator sent to protect John Connor... actor Robert Patrick was cast the ordinary-looking 'T-1000' Terminator made of liquid metal, sent to kill John Connor... Edward Furlong played the young John Connor w/ Linda Hamilton returning as Sarah Connor.

    Nope.
The scientists don't have time travel.
Those scientists had the arm from the first Terminator, as well as part of its CPU.

I don't really like most of the other things they added to the extended edition of this movie, and I don't like the different ending, but I love that scene. It's a fascinating discussion between John and Sarah where she is so paranoid that she can't trust it at all, but John realizes the value and need for him, and convinces his mom that he will have to make important strategic decisions like this at some point.
