Idk....from what I can tell so far, the Hero 7 Black owners can’t consider the OSMO Action an upgrade to what they already have. I thought GoPro performed better. I get the point of the front screen, but how useful is it if it creates a separate video clip every time you switch from front to back? You might miss something important in that split second, even if it’s just audio.
Too much noise reduction from GoPro 7, very soft image. I prefer to wok with Osmo Action. And some GoPro 7s actually freeze here and then. People who experienced this are very frustrated because it's not fixable, memory cards don't fix that, batteries and firmware don't too. That alone makes DJI the winner.

ohhh, i noticed occassionally it freezes my micro sd card, but i thought it may have been my sd card issue.....🤔
Image delay has been corrected by recent DJI update! Also hyperlapse has been added too!

Did you use noise reduction on your osmo action footage? My shots are extremely grainy in low light and night :/

Great review, both have their good and less good points, I have waited the OSMO to arrive before to decide wich one to buy, I chose the 7 black witch would suit better my need but really both camera are great products...

Great review! This is the first one out of many that I’ve seen on the Osmo Action that mentions a lag.
Notice the other ones are not at night so there may be some processing going on to increase the ISO without increasing the noise! If you have ever shot a night photo with a DSLR with noise reduction turned on there can be many seconds of lag between taking the shot and it appearing on the screen.
yeah, altho i feel i just get used to it (thats what i felt during daytime, when i was focused a little less on screen)

Great work as always! You didn't give an opinion in the end I guess DJI' footage exposed some issues when playing on laptop? For me, 4k30 or 2.7k Rocksteady ON with the crop is wide enough fov for vlogging, wider than osmo pocket. Can you confirm dewarp and Rocksteady can be turned on at the same time at what resolution and fps settings?
yeah, dewarp and rocksteady can be on at the same time... i didnt give my opinion coz i wasnt sure then... i will give my opinion in the next vid woth daytime footage :)!

I hope that I can get your opinion on which one should I purchase if I need it in the next few months since I noticed that there are lots of accessories available for GoPro 7 and necessary accessories like spare batteries are currently out of stock for Osmo action.
yah, dji can be slow with accessories....but then do you need all the accessories?? unless diving.. i can see you would want extra batteries but i think these should be in stock soon?!?
Young360 Thanks for the reply. I actually will go on a trip to Tahiti in a few months so I’ll at least do some snorkeling, but I did notice that some sellers on Taobao in mainland China already start to sell some Osmo Action third party accessories like filters, sticks, etc.
for snorkeling, you just need some decent gopro accessories which will fit osmo action. no need for underwater case, filter, etc :)! good selfie stick will do :)!

yeah. cos the sound was rather faint
hmm just wonder which microphone better (hero 7 vs osmo action)? from my pc i hear hero 7 better but review (from others) mentioned osmo action better. (or my ears got problem? :p )
hero7 is louder. osmo action meeds to amplify it. tbh, they r similar quality i think... cannot say one is better than another... abit like chestnut and acorn?!? 🤣🤣
Nice to hear a review that is neutral. All of the big time you tubers (not that your not big time ) who get early access come out with these 100% positive reviews. You really have to wait for the folks that paid for the camera with their own $ that have not received sponsorship to give their review. 👍
Exactly. Not hating on Them but 99% of them colour graded the hell outta there videos rather then show its true form. Some even went as far as to compare cinelike to Raw footage.

Great nonbiased review as always! Keep it up! I almost got the Osmo Action but for me the deal breaker is no hyperlapse/timelapse/timewarp while moving. To me as a traveler, thats one of the best features of action cams, getting that timelapse while walking through a town.
there is timelapse movie feature.... so, thats like hyperlapse? (if u set ur frame interval very tight)
@@Young360 Ah gotcha. Not many people post walking timelapse footage with the Osmo so its tough to tell. Maybe one of my fave reviewers can post a clip? *hint hint nudge nudge* :D

perfect setting 2.7 30fps at night shot with low ISO of 400 locked or 800 is peak and shutter speed at 1/30

The reason the footage looks different than what you saw in the front screen while filming is the front screen itself has a crop. It will show what the Osmo Action is actually filming if you change the aspect ratio of the front screen to 16:9. However, the image will be somewhat smaller and possibly more difficult to see in 16:9. I just received my Osmo Action today, so my testing begins too. Great videos. I really enjoy your channel. 😁
oh, i meant the back screen in osmo action is great, in comparison to gopro screen. it raises my expectation where as gopro basic screen lowers my expectation hahaha

So what is the difference you’re seeing on the Osmo Action footage on your computer vs what you saw when you were shooting?

Thanks for the night time low light review. I’m sticking with my Hero 7 for now. I’m not a vlogger so the front screen is not a big deal to me and I don’t think the DJI blows it away otherwise.
oh yeah, my conclusion is for gopro 7 user, no need to change. i will talk abt that in my next vid
Young360 GoPro is still offering the $100 trade in deal, so I sent them an old GoPro knockoff camera that I had. That brings the price down to $300, $50 cheaper than the DJI. I recently had my Hero 7 stolen so I needed a replacement. Thanks again for the review.

Dji action looks good, but dji needs to optimize the firmware to reduce that display lag. Mine arrives tomorrow 😊😊
woohoo! i think dji should do firmware. they always do that.. roll out whatever (beta version, guinea pig, etc) and suddenly come up with pretty awesome firmwares :)
@@Young360 Got mine today and there was a new firmware. Lag is severely reduced (although this may have been done earlier, from final production firmware; most youtubers were using pre-production firmware)
oh, i updated mine immediately after receiving it. i bought it myself like everyone else. so, u got at the same time. i just live 1 hour away from shenzhen so my delivery came faster!

Nice review. Your intro with you in frame and in focus, and the background being blurred, looks great - OSMO ACTION or GoPro Hero 7? The curved fisheye view of the GoPro Hero 7 would drive me crazy ie: when you were in the tram and the focus was on you, the poles on the left and right were so curved it was actually distracting. My SJCAM 5000X Elite does a better job...
oh, that intro was...Sony a6400 🤣🤣 i yet again realised why i have that mirrorless camera 🤣 yah, the tram selfie video with that fisheye was not ideal...🤣🤣🤣
The lag with the osmo action is only when the rocksteady stabilization is enabled. Hopefully that's something that can be fixed in a future update.

Personally, for me, I have the Osmo Pocket & I was thinking I was going to go ahead and get the GoPro 7, but now I will get the Osmo Action instead.
They seem very comparable, and the Action just came out, so no doubt it's gonna get better. I've always hated the SUPERWIDE warped look of GoPro (ok fine, unless you're skydiving), so the Osmo Action is perfect for me, and I like how you can screw the filters on and off.
With a 'DJI vs GOPRO' scenario, the customers will be the biggest winners here.
yeah, what u r saying is totally right. the competition is good for customers. really up the action cam game!!! more innovation needed (already really good tho). yeah, superwide is very useful for skydivers surfers etc. i find both cameras so good, a bit hard to pick one over the other.. think its the decision more on brand values...

Gopro mostly looks high contrast, even in the day light. It definitely bit harder, if you want to make any color corrections . But Osmo footage can be editable as what you like...

This and David Sargant's huge selection of Osmo Action footage have to be the best Osmo Action videos released in the past few days. Interesting to see how the Osmo Action HDR mode blows the GoPro out of the water in lowlight!

i think color is preference? i like hdr color except... no rocksteady for hdr...unless DJI updates the firmware. DJI has always been pretty good with firmware updates

Been using both osmo n gopro i can said that overall stabilization, and natural color quality it is osmo. For durability in case of waterproof just pick gopro no doubt
