What about blaming the city of Oakland for not being able to get a deal done? They've been in that stadium since 1968 and had to share it with the Raiders as well. It was never truly theirs, until the Raiders left, and was built primarily as a football stadium. The city rejected multiple offers the As ownership made. SF built a new stadium/arena for the Giants and Warriors, so why couldn't Oakland do the same? The A's have been trying for a very long time to get a deal done. Theres a reason the Raiders left twice, the Warriors moved across the bay and now the A's are leaving now too. Its not all on Fisher.

The owners are tanking this season so they can go to MLB and say they cant field a team with the poor support. There is lots of blame to go around but these owners have been trying to squeeze the team for years. Everybody loves “Money ball” but the subtext is that the owners are cheep. It’s hard to remember but up until Bonds moved to the Giants, the A’s regularly out drew their cross bay rivals.

Not the 10yr veteran who behaved *worse* than if he hit the game winning HR to send them to the WS?
And I say that as someone who love Abreu & still roots for him.
If a player had *never* hit a homer in his pro career & sent them to the WS on his 1st career homer, I'd still be... ehhhh, you may have overdid it a touch there.
But, for someone with *checks notes* 243 career HRs & an MVP to his name, hitting his 1st homer off a 10 win team & behaving worse than any of us did playing meaningless whiffle ball games in our childhood, you targeted the wrong side of pathetic.
Hell, I wouldn't consider the As "pathetic" at this point if they put him on base every AB the rest of a tanking season via IBB & HBP & chalk it up to, "we just don't want a star of the game to hurt himself rounding the bases against us when Houston & their fans will want him for the postseason. It's obvious any homer hit against us puts him at risk". In fact, prob a good thing I'm not their GM, because walking in a run still wouldn't be an acceptable reason to pitch to him the rest of the season after that pathetic display.

Judging by his stats I think his celebration was justified. I think hitting a batter because your feelings are hurt is just sad. If he was taunting you sure hit him but he was celebrating without taunting.

Abreu showboated when he slid into home plate and had it coming. He was hit with an offspeed pitch and now it's over.....except for your whining.

Bush league? Nah, bro. Try Old School. Ryan or Gibson or damned near any other pitcher in MLB back in the day would have thrown it straight at his head. Act like a bush league mascot clown, get a fastball up and in. Them's were the rules. If they were not ejected for fighting they would have thrown it at Alvarez, too, solely for mad dogging them from the dugout. The message would have been simple - get out here and fight like a man or sit the hell down.
