  • Restoring the metabolism for successful fat loss often means putting off weight loss for a long time. Jaime had a different response and started losing once she was able to train, eat, and get into a consistent mode. Adding calories for months we kept losing body fat as well. This is her more then 2 year journey.

    The biggest take away from this video is her patience. 2.5 years isn't a short term mindset and I commend her as an athlete for accepting of the time. As a coach thats the hardest thing to convince an athlete of is time. Teaching patience. Great story Paul and thank you for sharing!

      @jaimekallay8453 Před 7 lety +5

      I agree! Patience and Trust are some of the biggest factors to success. Short term fixes are not always healthy or maintainable - but to take the needed time and put your health, sanity and happiness first makes ALL the difference in the world!! Thank you!

      Removing the short term mindset from goals is a huge hurdle but once you do it makes things like this possible.

    19:43 when your said, "I don't judge" - THIS is powerful. My experiences have been with coaches who do show judgement when weight doesn't drop, when you mess up on your diet or miss a cardio session. At times I am tempted to not check-in because my weight went up, but watching your channel and seeing how you don't judge your clients is helping me to be honest and unashamed about where I'm at. This is very valuable to me, so, thank you for that. And thank you to Jamie for sharing this!! It's so powerful!

    • @jaimekallay8453
      @jaimekallay8453 Před 7 lety +3

      He truly does not judge! I am extremely thorough in my weekly check-ins and if we have an increase/cardio deviation he doesn't judge or reprimand me, but just gets to the root of the problem and makes a plan of action with me! All I can say is that this allows me to be 100% honest because ultimately we are working TOGETHER towards my goals and if I am dishonest either he already knows (bc he's Coach) or he can't properly coach me bc he doesn't have all the needed information! Never let anyone shame you - or make you feel less - because honestly LIFE happens!! And deviations will too!!

    Oh my gosh you don't realise how much this video has changed my life! I'm going through the same thing and felt seriously hopeless 😞 you don't really see many videos of people speaking about metabolic adaptation and recovering from it so honestly and openly !! To see your before and after photos as well is very encouraging.
    I suffered from eating disorder from A very young age bulimia anorexia and then binging (after recovery from bulimia/anorexia) which then turned into ortherexia! severely under eating and over training with hours of cardio every day , throw in a bad coach and a bikini comp and hello metabolic adaptation !? It just led to my body eventually fight back after a year I have piled on 19 kg 😩... I have just started My reverse diet and I was feeling a bit hopeless to be honest but watching this has given me hope. So Thanks heaps lovelies x very inspiring ! ....

    Hi Paul and Jamie! Im so happy for for Jamie and thank you for sharing your story. Thanks Paul for always putting out free information. It's sounds silly but CZcams has been my school, my friend, and my motivation through my fitness journey. Paul I've commented before that I'm reverse dieting. I'm think I'm what you call a hyper responder. I'm 5'1 and when I started my journey I was doing crossfit and eating clean but I went from 115-120. I had newbie gains but no fat lose. Found iifym and cut from 1700ish to my lowest of 1000, cutting 100 cals/week. I was down to 110lbs but had 105 stuck in my head. So I stayed at 1000 and even 900 for about a month with no drop. Enter powerlifting and reverse dieting. I increase to 1200 and dropped 2lbs in 1 week! I've been adding 100 cals/week and am now up to about 2200 cals, 275 carb, 110 pro, 75 fat and still sitting at 108! While this was cool in the beginning it's become a curse! I have NO room in my stomach for that volume, I'm eating more unhealthy food to hit my numbers, I'm bloated, I'm racking my brain on meal prep day, shoveling in food at the end of the night when all I want to is sleep. I want to increase my powerlifting PRs. I wanted to gain back up to 120 and mini cut back to 114 to compete in that weight class. But at this rate it's become exhausting. I don't know what to do. Any advice on bulking would be so so so much appreciated. My only diet restriction is dairy. Thanks again you guys!

I can't wait to be cheering you on wherever your competitive adventures take you :) Remember I told you that you deserve to have happy competition memories? AND NOW YOU WILL!!!!

I have SOO MANY AMAZING people in my corner and I will be forever grateful - but I am also extremely grateful that I am back to being that happy and PASSIONATE person once again!! That I have a reason to be PROUD and SMILE!!! It's soo hard when you are not feeling like yourself, when you feel that you are absolutely ALONE in this battle, and then the outside world notices you changing for the worse. It just truly amazes me how the mental and emotional aspect of one's well-being plays such a HUGE factor as you suffer and then as you go though recovery!! It just proves that transformations NEED to take place from the inside to out!!! XOXOXOXOX

    I'm currently taking an offseason/ growing season of 2 years to build up my metabolism after a difficult pregnancy which caused excess weight gain (and needed to diet post Bub on very low calories which I am now taking time to reverse out safely). Already up to over 200 carbs and when you've been sub 50 carbs, you appreciate every little gram. This video hits home for me and shows the importance of taking that time to build your metabolism and get yourself in a better place. When people ask when I'll compete again I say maybe 2019 and I get a lot of shocked faces. This is a long term goal for me, as getting my body in a good place is priority over doing another show too soon

    Thank you. I just contacted you for advice on which of your videos most applied to my situation and this is likely it. I've lost a lot of weight over the last 18 months, and put on some lean mass, but the reduction in fat loss rate has been frustrating. It seems that maybe I need to accept some weight gain, as long as it my diet remains fairly balanced, to re-invigorate my previous weight-loss velocity. I've gone from a BMI of over 43 to a BMI of under 27 in 18 months. That isn't a sustainable rate so I need to change up my plan a bit. I will be watching more of your videos.

      The mental and emotional aspect of the journey is such a HUGE factor that many people - including myself - may not realize just how much it can impact you. And the need for instant gratification is definitely in play too. So to be able to truly realize that, and until you overcome whatever is holding you back - you never know just how far you can push, transform, and progress until you start trusting and believing in yourself!!

    Love these testimonial videos, Paul. The information you and all these lovely ladies share and put out there for us for free is extremely valuable and I'm sure a lot of people are grateful for this. I am personally going through a reverse diet (haven't had any eating disorders or extreme dieting but I did diet down to my BMR then started going slowly back up to my maintenance to put on more muscle cause I'm still a newbie at weight lifting) and your videos made me feel confident and okay with taking that risk of putting on some body fat during the process and you guys are right, feeling full is extremely helpful and oh my lord does it make training better and it definitely SOMEHOW made me look better even with the extra bit of body fat, the muscles are just fuller and you just feel happier and lighter and full of energy. Again, thank you so much! Much love from Casablanca, Morocco.

I’m currently in a reverse because I want to eat more and my caloric intake is significantly higher now than It ever was in my teens and 20s. It’s okay to eat more, strength train, lessen cardio and still see weight and fat loss.

    Well done jamie. I have the same problem now and thats comforting. I added a huge amount of fat to the degree I cant wear jackets any more. (this fact after being anorexic has had me in tears) I am hoping by carefully exercising and eating ok that i can start getting better. I have been the same as you. You look great in that bikini I was like the first photo I am slightly better increased by 150 calories and lose 2 per cent body fat at the same weight I gained and lost cutting and bulking, its a long journey thanks for your story and to Paul for sharing it.

    DAMN I relate so much with her. I was always overweight as a kid, wanted to be skinny, developed bulimia, then that just turned into binging. I’m a serial yo-yo dieter, so I go from 140lbs - 190lbs and everything in between. Now I maintain my weight on 1400 calories. I still want to lose weight and can only lose weight on a 600-800 calories diet. I am so miserable.

Thank you for sharing... I will continue to view and learn more and see where this leads me. I am also going to share this information with my outrigger paddling coach and team members.

    This is awesome. I've been going back and forth for awhile whether or not I want to reverse diet. I had a coach tell me i am overweight and that I need to lose excess fat first before trying to reverse (I am 23% BF). I have dealt with disordered eating for years and this video was just what I needed to see! Thanks for sharing!

    This is amazing. I was binging after trying to diet down on 1200 cals. I increased to 1540 and now I’m at 1700 plus. I’m binging less and still trying hard to keep the cals up to increase my metabolism. This is so amazing and gets me excited to see her results. Thank you!

    • @sabrinaevefit9716

      Pia Robles Talledo good for you!! I decreased my cardio a tad but not much. I had a few days here again where I had some food I enjoyed and didn’t count cals. I’m trying not to feel bad about it cause it was with my fiancé. I wasn’t gaining or loosing when I increased. I am still staying at the same cals even though I enjoyed myself for a few days with him. I’m holding lots of water from that. I have noticed my bowel movements have increased by increasing cals! How are you doing??
