  • How do you get rid of the fat that is very stubborn and seems to hang around more than any other? This discussion is my opinion on how to handle just that problem.

Hello Paul, I have been on journey to lose body fat for around 15 months. In that time, i have lost 140 plus pounds and around 30% body fat. I am currently at around 15%. I have been weight training throughout, and flexible dieting. I track everything, watch for trends and adjust my diet accordingly. My goal is 10 to 12 % body fat. I have put on some muscle and have made good gains. I have loose skin around my lower mid section and lower back. Not sure how much of that is fat. I have developed a passion for nutrition, training and fitness as a whole. I have taken several breaks from dieting where I eat at maintenance for 2 weeks to help avoid my metabolism from screeching to a halt. On training days I eat 1650 calories and on training days I eat 2000. I am thinking the 1650 is my maintenance as I have noticed a trend of staying around the same weight on those days. I complete 30 of steady state cardio on training days. 10 min warm up and 20 minutes at the end of workouts. I eat 1.2 g per pound of body weight for protein, 40 to 50 grams of fat and the rest carbs. I train 3 days on 2 days off, 3 days on. My split is a 8 day cycle where I train specific muscle groups every 5 days. My training is hypertrophy based, with a combination of compound, semi compound and isolation exercises. I train to failure on the last set of some exercises and others I leave 1 or two in the tank. I incorporate some intensity techniques on certain movements. I could go on. My progress has been very slow over the past few months and I looking for suggestions on how to get over the final body fat hurdle.
    Have a great day
    Robert A

Nice video. I certainly can relate to this. I train 4-5 days a week and struggle with stubborn fat. 5'10 218lbs currently and can't seem to bring the weight down, in fact it's going up. I don't think I'm necessarily stronger since I don't train with progressive overload in mind. I have too much joint issues. But I give up on my dieting strategy when I don't see the scale go down. I'm really active, I also cycle twice a week and I train 1 body part a day, push then pull the next day. Sometimes I do H.I.I.T as well. Macros on point. 250g carbs, 180g protein, 65g fat. Can't seem to figure it out. Being an Endomorph stinks!

Any advice for bikini competitors that are worried about getting "too lean" in some places in order to lose their stubborn body fat is others? Genetically my upper body stays very lean, but below the waist it's a different story. When I get deep into my contest prep I have to be very careful in my training for upper body and my posing to almost mask how lean I get in my arms, shoulders, abs.. But I have yet to get my legs as lean as I would like!

Emalie Bassett where your body stores its bodyfat is a genetic thing. your body has its fav places to store fat . first bodyfat lost in cut is last fat put on. last bodyfat lost is first put on if u stop dieting/training.

Exal Xavier thank you, yes I do know this! I am a seasoned competitor and it's something I've dealt with for a long time! I think at the time when I asked this, what I was looking for was more along the lines of how to still achieve the overall look for bikini (you can't be too lean or striated etc.) while getting those stubborn last places to fall off... whether that be changing up some training, posing etc. Paul is my coach now actually and things are going great! Thanks for the reply!
