"This is the handle bar, but in the middle is the headstem. The smoother it is, the less it'll hurt when you high five it with your chest"
What u called the head tube is actually the top tube, where ur steer tube goes through is the head tube, the top and bottom tube connect to it creating the head angle
Also remember when going down hill, to squeeze the left brake lever as hard as you can (the right one in Europe) a little squeeze slows you down but a big one give extra speed and skill. Also make sure to only do that while leaning really far forwards at over 10 mph
Me with my specialized status: :) My grandpa with his 67 year old rusted steel wheel custom build bike with mounted train horn and rail gun attached: ;)
Me and my dad build alot of old bikes, cut em up, make cool choppers, patina builds, ect. Between the two of us we have probably 100(counting parts bikes)
@@ryurc3033 that sounds so cool! I wish I did that. I’m just a casual mountain biker, ski instructor, and student pilot. I wish I had more time for bike maintance. :(
A derailleur in French doesn't translate to shifter. It is actually a bike specific term. If you were to decompose the word it would be closer to meaning getting something off the rails, or derailed. Kind of makes sense whe you think about it. It makes the chain come off a sprocket and into another one.
I build some pretty wild custom bikes.....not mountain bikes, choppers and lowriders, but I appreciate the tech. My mountain bike is an old haro 26 inch kids bike, but I used a drop back seat post and tall bmx handlebars....so it feels like a giant bmx
Pedal, erm it’s for your shins, make sure you pick the most spikiest pedals to ensure you get maximum grip on your shins! Haha I have flesh missing from my shin, took me 7minth for it to fully grow back!
Also, if you’re a beginner and you don’t want too much bike responsibility, expensive maintenance, difficult to clean, and sometimes temperamental with general functionality. Just get the hardtail. You can get a banging hardtail bike for a fraction of what a full suspension is going to cost you.
Mountain bike is all about having suspension on fork, durable frame and extra grip tires, downhill bikes must be a little extra on everything. What you had was premium stuff and your bike is probably way over $3000 that's premium cost for a bike.
This here is the CHAIN RING. If you have a bike from the 1990s, it's going to leave "biker tattoos" all over your right leg. This is a FORK SHOCK. If it's an expensive one, it will have lots of knobs you'll never learn to properly use. Here we have a DERAILLEUR HANGER. It's guaranteed to get bent, because that's part of its job. You'll blame bad shifting on the derailleur itself and needlessly spend $300 on a new derailleur instead of just straightening the hanger. Find yourself an honest local bike shop. Over here is a TIRE STEM. They come in Schrader and Presta types. You'll know which it is because whatever pump your buddy brought on the trail is for the other one. Finally, we have the CASSETTE, which you only learn to clean and maintain after you wear out a drive train. The learning part comes when you discover a new cassette costs roughly the same as the resell value of the entire bike.
You missed a fair bit: handlebars , rims, hubs, spokes. Pedals, cranks , chainring, casssette, chain, cables, forks, brake levers, brake discs , and if you can think of more stuff reply 2 me
i got a huffy mountain bike and i gotdouble gears one is for speeds the other is for gears i think and my bike has 2 little black things that move between the chain if it gets to close it will mess up so i gotta keep it at 2 lol
You pointed to the top tube when you said head tube lololol
He was just seeing who was paying attention 😉
Pretty sure that's the joke 🤣
Ok but there's an actual thing called the head tube so it's not that humorous in an otherwise funny video. Just seems like he actually doesn't know
@@tuftschristopher he definitely knows, he has wireless shifters and a yeti bike lol.
I didn't know so thanks for pointing that out.
Now I have to find out what's a head tube?
The fact that he put of bare feet on those pedals.🤯
He miss shoes
Ik I saw that
mannn we used to do this all the time as kids
For real
@@mattyice2889 those pedals are very sharp compared to a normal bike
"This here is the head tube!"

His mouth is a Head Tube.
Came here to make that comment and immediatly saw yours😂

Tons of comments about the top tube but nobody giving props for "poop rights on the trail"? That was the best line in this thing.
The "deeraliour" is a derailleur, or derailer in English. It's called that way because it literally 'derails' the chain from one gear to another
French here✋
French as well, and same
Bonus point. Can you guess what it was named after...
The thing that derails runaway carts of a train track 😂
You break down the mountain bike so well, even I can understand it. Thanks Joe!
Ace Ventura does Mountain Biking now? 💪🔥
Haahah
So shifter was $400, so the rest of the bike is only $400.... Since you said the bike was only $800 earlier
Man I wish that was the case, that frame is probably worth more than a 2022 ford mustang Shelby with supercharge
@@fr3etrial314 i know its a dentist bike, lol. But he saysd in a video it’s only $800 to his wife
I like how his wife has a matching mustache 😂. Now that's true love haha
A full suspension carbon fiber Yeti is probably just a tad bit more than 800 bucks, but I'm just guessing.
@@dolfan1318 well he then is lying to his wife, bad calirado!
Watch his earlier shorts

😂😂This is just too relatable
I’m in a hard tail with no dropper and I’ve never forgot to charge my battery 😏
Well, I think a dropper is the first upgrade anyone should do. Don't get a wireless one, because with a wired one you can't forget the cable! 😉
All hail pringle
Well everything you SAID about the head tube is right, but you pointed to the top tube...
For dummies by a dummie lol
But I actually love the channel so nice work man
Haha! Absolutely. Anyone that's been around this channel long enough knows I don't know what the hell I'm doing! 😂
Dude could explain how a coffee machine works, i would watch it, even i don't drink coffee.
U would
I think the brakes are pretty important too 😂.
Ted Lasso becoming a CZcamsr after his tenure at Richmond FC was something I wasn’t expecting…
Headtube is where fork sits, what you were calling the headtube is the top tube
Finally this content 💯 most CZcamsr forgot to tell
this is really helpful because people keep asking me questions about my bike but idk how to respond, thank you!
Thanks for the explanation Ted lasso
Those one you showed in the video costs over $8G’s here in California

Easily the nicest bike I’ve ever seen
As an experienced biker this was hilarious to watch
I still have my Iron Horse... I wonder if it's still out of business.
Nice bike. I couldn't have described the top tube angle any better.
Made my day haha

I have a mountain bike and never knew it and treated it like a road bike
The peg where your ankle goes to meet god when your 12
I love my Yeti SB 5.5
You forgot to say always wear a helmet 🪖 be safe
Thx man, I got a bike for Xmas and actually lost two teeth biting the frame - I had no idea how to use it!
That was excellent. Thanks.
Love the shirt! I lived there for 3 years and rode my Yeti 4X all over Chaffee County!
pedals, forks and brakes. great video
The way he presented the rear suspension, was like tickling the balls.😂🏀
you forgot the part where the pedals occasionally will occasionally destroy your shins
Would love to see a "short" about the Helmets
Make sure to drill holes through out the frame of the bike for the needed weight reduction too 😉😊

brakes, cassette, cranks, and fork travel in the next one!!

The Salida shirt is 🔥
i have a spring on the back and that shit is so stiff that i am convinced you could put it on a car and it would work just fine.

head angle straight = fast up scary down
leaning head angle = slow up fast down😊
Full suspension, hard tail. Hmm, I'm old, i have a rigid.

Why am I still watching this when I already know what is mtb
Some people call it the mechanism because they don’t like the French lol. Personally, I think derailleur is an awesome name.
