When I first saw the movie in the theater, my thoughts were:
(1) Obi Wan was buying time, keeping Vader focused on him so Luke could rescue Leia.
(2) The old guy was in control of himself, and had a solid strategy, even maneuvering himself toward the hanger bay door for a possible escape.
(3) Only when he saw the bay occupied by storm troopers, and Luke on the other side of them, did Obi Wan sacrifice himself, knowing that otherwise Luke and Leia would get killed trying to save him.
Obviously, after the prequels, the incident takes on deeper importance.
Yes, I absolutely want the next part.
Thank you again for your ongoing loyalty to the outstanding story.
He was Vader was overwhelming him He was just buying time
Clearly, Vader did not kill Kenobi; Kenobi gave himself up to the Force completely, and in so doing, he robbed Vader of his final victory.
Bingo. Vader didn't kill him because he didn't die - at least not in any conventional sense. Yoda clearly gave up the ghost and then transcended into the Force. Kenobi does it - apparently - on command.
Finally someone smart, thank God!
The final troll. Goodbye there.
Vader struck the blow, but Kenobi surrendered to save Luke and the others by giving Vader a victory and shaking him to his core at the same time. And what if Vader kept Obi Wan's lightsaber and Luke eventually acquires it? He could give it to Rey and train her. Give her like three weeks on Achh To with Luke training, like he got with Yoda. Rey probably then would have been on par with Luke in Empire.
Obi wan was a next level mind fucker
Obi-Wan heard Qui-Gon was throwing a giant force ghost party and was like hmmmmmmm old and busted or force ghost hunnies
You been watching Charlie Hopkinson?
Psychological warfare at its peak. Vader knew he was stronger and more skilled, and yet, his survival instinct told him not to underestimate Obi Wan again. No matter how stronger and more skilled he was, the memory of losing his limbs and been burned alive haunted him: this is the man that did that to me, even if he’s old and slower… he did that to me in a moment in which I also knew I was stronger than him.
He also knew Kenobi was smarter than him: always a tremendous advantage.
@@marial8235Umm no anakin just got too arrogant
@@phantom_mserafiarrogance is essentially ignorance of reality. Anakin wasn't smart enough to know he shouldn't try what he did when he lost his limbs.
He didn't try to force push Kenobi or anything he just tried to jump over him. Why didn't Anikan attempt a strike or any offensive tactic besides flipping through the air. He never understood the situation infront of him until luke was dying infront of him. Only then could he see his flaws. Before that everything was someone elses fault to him
Basically Vader's PTSD getting to him 😂
I can't imagine overthinking for decades and calculating each move with such extreme effort during a fight...only to get smirked at and given the fight by your opponent 💀
had to erk him something bad lol
Obi-Wan literally stood there and let Vadar kill him. Everything we know about Vadar's character, tells us he would not have been fine with that victory. He would definitely be questioning weather or not he was finally good enough to win. An the fact that Obi-Wan's body dissappeared, would have Vadar wondering even more if Obi-Wan just let him win.
Which Obi Wan did. When you choose to end the fight on your terms, you win. Kenobi was ready to enter the Force.
Which is sad on Anakin's part. Anakin was THE best. He was better than Obi Wan in every way except resolve.
Vader could EASILY defeat Obi Wan if he just treated Obi Wan like any other Jedi he hunted. But he doesn't. He places Obi Wan on this undeserved pedestal which he(Vader) must reach. This is what happened on Mustafar. Vader would've won that fight if he had the patience and the mastery of his ego required to see that Obi Wan was baiting him. He saw Obi Wan on that hill and he couldn't stand Obi Wan towering over him. This caused him to lash out and try a spiteful maneuver.
If Vader had the sense to center himself, he could've used his superior ability in the Force to overcome and eventually kill Obi Wan. But he doesn't, because he places his former master on that pedestal.
It's the same with Sidious. In the Vader comics, it is hinted by Sidious himself that Vader is not actually limited by his suit or even his injuries. Instead, he has created a psychological limit to his power; Vader believes his power has been diminished and his mind reinforces that belief. Sidious indulges him in this perpetual state of self-limitation because he wants an obedient little dog.
@@marial8235if I fight an mma fighter and choose to walk out halfway through I win? even after getting my ass beat? huh didn’t know that.
@@UnroyalYeet Obi Wan did not get his ass beat. He was still parrying Vader quite well. (Well, in the OG SW they both look pretty clumsy because it was the 1970s). Kenobi took a look out thru the doorway, and saw that Luke and Leia had a clear path to escape while he had to fight through Vader and at least a platoon of stormtroopers. Why bother? He was tired of living and had done his job as a Jedi. Time to enter the Force. He knew he could still mentor Luke and Leia as a Force Ghost. And he cheated Vader by outsmarting him, yet again.
@@marial8235well to be fair Vader would’ve most likely beaten Obi wan even he was trying. After revenge of the Sith Vader got stronger while Obi Wan got older and weaker and was a shell of his former self by the time he started training Luke
On Musatfar: I have the high ground
On the Death Star: I have the higher plane
Yeeesssss
Fckn brilliant 😂
Obi-Wan was not killed. He just played with Anakin's head once again and transcended into the Force. He disappeared before Vader could even connect and just took credit for that as a kill and trolled Luke with it. Obi-Wan accomplished his multi-faceted mission: Shut down the tractor beam, distract Vader from Luke to allow Luke and Leia's escape (remember fellow fans that these are Anakin's children. if they stayed too long in close proximity to Vader, Vader would sense the connection to them. Obi-wan knows his pupil. So he had to keep Vader distracted and focused completely on him) Obi-wan's joining with the Force was the ultimate distraction to the narrowly focused Vader and the final way to show Anakin that he will always be a student in the Force and ONLY a Master of evil. Kenobi's last mission accomplished in his final act as a Jedi on the physical plane of existence. Well played, Master Kenobi!
And Vader searching Obi-Wan's cloak proves Vader did NOT know, really, what happened.
Thank you for being smart
I definitely love to hear that. What you were just talking about at the end. There I like these particular ones where it delves into their psyche.
You know, since he just dissappeared without explanation...I just want there to be a novel or fan made video where after this moment, Obi-Wan constantly visits and bothers Vader as a force ghost at the most inopportune times with no one else being able to see or sense him in the force... That way he has to try to ignore him or be made to look insane infront of everyone, including Sidious. Aswell as visiting Vader when he's alone, submerged in his bacta tank during his meditation sessions...and only ever referring to him as Ani, Anakin, or crispy...but crispy is reserved only for when he's out of his suit, cause we all know how Vader will kill anyone who he thinks may of gotten the shortest glimpse of him while out of his suit...But no matter what happens or what Vader says/asks, Obi-Wan only ever acts like an annoying friend/master, and he never under any circumstances tells him what he is, how he did it, or if it's actually happening or just inside his own head....causing Vader to be driven mad wondering if it's actually happening or if it's all some sort of hallucination caused by his subconscious.
Really looking forward to seeing part 2!😊
I do want the next video. Obi Wan allowed himself to be killed to bolster Luke and the rebellion as well as to instill fear into Darth Vader.
Because for Vader this was a pivotal moment in his time as a Sith Lord and Obi Wans death was his ultimate prize
He faced Obi Wan before as we saw in the Kenobi series, but then he was still a learner.
As he quoted in A new Hope
- When i left you I was but the learner, now I am the MASTER
F*ck the Kenobi series, it wasn't written by Lucas 🤷
Technically, Obi Wan left him.
Ha
I figured they're be pro-anti topic fake account/bots responding to me and every1
Personally I liked the Kenobi series, although Grand Inquisitor could've been WAY better visually 🤨
@@eaphantom9214the pacing was poor (way too much unnecessary garbage) as well as the characters themselves especially Reva. And don’t get me started on 10 year old Leia being able to outrun adults. Aspects of the show were decent other parts were laughably bad.
"Only a master of evil, Darth."
Vader was full of bologna. Not only was there more for him to learn (if you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine), but also the mere memory of Old Ben's wily ways had him QUAKING in his boots.
The artwork is amazing!
He didn't let vader kill him... he took vaders ability to exact his revenge
its worse than that
he took anakins closure. now there will always be the doubt in vader AND anakin
I am eagerly waiting for the next part.
I'd love to see what Vader does after their duel on the Death Star. I also really hope it'll be your next video.
Go for it part 2 vader
I definitely want the follow up video!! 😉
Obi-Wan stay trolling his ops
second part please!
Since I've always loved the whole Star Wars story since episode 4, these videos are very entertaining.
Great vid. Obi wan has always been my fave
Stupendous we are all still waiting for that Ulic Qel-Droma Bio and Power Scaling like you did with Count Dooku, Satelle Shan, Arcann, and Darth Marr you just released a video on Hazan so where is Ulic the guy who is equal to Exar Kun?
@ The Stupendous Wave: I would be more interested, in hear your thought's on. What has happened in the new Season of the Bad Batch.
i love looking in vaders mind
Yes i would like that videp!
MAKE THE OTHER VIDDEEOOOO PLEEASSSEEEE
Please do make the video about the Darth Plegas connection 👍
Bring on the next explanation 😊
Please give us another part
Please do part 2
That other video you mentioned!!!!
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS
ITS UNFAIR
Obi-Wan the master of trolling until the end.
Vader was also going to tell that he was in search for #TDBank💳 card and encountered Obi Wan Kenobi and wasn't ready to take him on and was being a dick about it! 🌎💘💰
Ok it needs to be mentioned…
After Obi wan completed his training in isolation with qui Gons force essence/ghost…(after the events of the show Kenobi )
He LEARNED THAT HE CANNOT KILL VADER HIMSELF. For a couple of reasons
It would corrupt him as a Jedi through guilt and Kenobi already felt extremely guilty about all of it…
He sacrificed himself in other ways as well.
Also having communed with qui gon who is one with the force (knows past and present but can’t reveal it) he knows that LUKE MUST FACE VADER.
Both Luke and Kenobi couldn’t bring themselves to actually kill Anakin.
And they were both right.
It took Luke to save Anakin though.
I hope this is considered in the next video !
Awesome and great stuff in the video here ! Can’t wait until the next
Yes I would like it
I once beat a guy in fencing, he hated it and wanted a rematch.
I was hungover and not up for it. He kept badgering for another fight and I eventually relented and let him win, he hated that even more.
I still feel bad about it 20 or so yrs on, he was not an enemy after all.
oh yes definitely proceed with part 2.
Is the Vader Obiwan duel in Kenobi count as cannon?
Mistakes are a great teacher Yoda
Fought an old man and still shit his armor. Galaxy's biggest crybaby.
Because Obi-Wan can't bring himself to kill Vadar.
Obi Wan was only a few years older than Anakin/Vader to the degree that he was still just a Padawan when they first met.
Alec Guinness was 62 in A New Hope therefore Vader would've been about 57-58 years old. They were both old
Listen Punk, Old? I am 53, well I will be in the Summer...if I live that long and considering that I just took my heart nitro reading this and then pulled my shoulder out typing this...yeah they were both old.😢
@@mayaangelou1751 yes, I am a punk, thank you. Also, I'll be 53 in ten days, if I live that long. I have shoulder injuries, a thoracic spinal injury (basically my whole upper left side is blown out from a car accident). Furthermore I've been watching Star Wars my whole life and reading the books and comics inbetween.
I feel age and live with pain every day
Definitely I would love to see the follow-up video that you mentioned in this.
This is so great love seeing Anakin get schooled by the master😊
I want to see the second part of this video. Even as a child watching the original movie I could tell that Obi-wan let Vader win, but after watching the prequel movies, and reading the books, and other materials I think that it goes much deeper than that.
To a person watching the movie for the first time with none of the prevailing backstory, it might look as though Vader won that fight. However, I think that after knowing everything that the truth is that Vader won nothing. Obi-wan robbed Vader of the victory that he had obsessed about for all of those years, and I think that it took something out of him. His victory, that he dreamed about for all of those years, was a hallow one. He did not really kill Obi-wan. In the end, the Jedi master became one with the force and achieved a type of immortality that not even Vader's master could obtain.
I would like to know what he told Sidious.
What if the main reason Anakin turned to the dark side was because his hatred of sand took its toll finally and him suffering from hallucinations of sand trying to constantly suffocate and strangle him?
That would be a really dumb story
No
if only obi wan had known "force sand coffin" back on Mustafar
lol
So all sand has the spice melange in it?
It was very well done. Though the Basics of Vaders thoughts Were mentioned in the Very first novelization of Star Wars in 76. This simply went into more detail but it would be cool to hear the rest of it
many tend to forget obi wan's victory in the last episode of obi wan kenobi. i enjoyed it as much as the mustafar duel.
🎉
Force told Ben that Luke will bring anikin back to the light
Luke is met to fight him
Ben realized his son and daughter will bring him down
Hmmm the cheat death and cosmic projection perhaps?
Well, not all of his limbs, he did have one arm replaced
Kenobi had foresight and knew that Vader was the chosen one. He knew that only Vader could defeat the Emperor. His goal was not to kill Vader, but set up the chess board that would lead Vader to save his son by killing the Emperor. Luke was not powerful enough to do it, and Vader surprising the Emperor with an unexpected betrayal was the only hope.
I want the video on what vader did after the death star
Howdy!
He was so out of town with the force he couldn't detect his own kids in the next room. Where as obi won new who they were. So...
And yet at no point apparently does Anakin or Vader think to ask "How did these masters come by their knowledge? How did their masters or their's before them?" and realise that all who study The Force are in fact students of it. I've been old all my life, by more than one generation of my family, "he who has nothing left to learn is a fool".
Problem is that Vader up until the duel on the death star, everything Vader fights Kenobi at equal strength, Kenobi emerges the victor and that is in the back of Vader's mind, even on the death star. Where Kenobi puts up a good fight, despite his age and weakness keeps Vader on his toes and if it had not for Kenobi pulling a sacrifice play to allow Luke and Leia to escape, duel might have ended differently than it did.
Canon kinda nerfed Old Ben, but in Legends Vader admitted that if he let his guard down for a split second, Old Ben would’ve cut him down in the blink of an eye
Lucas also said that the reason why there were no force powers being used was because Obi-Wan nullified Vader’s ability to use the force offensively, and that if Vader was a 4, Obi-Wan would be a 6, on the same tier as the Emperor in AnH who was approaching a 10
So Legends Ben > AnH Vader, but Canon Ben is only able to stall him out
Vader must have been so puzzled, he became Vader to save the ones he loved from dying, and here lies his old master that butcher him years ago seems to have escape death and disappeared on the very moment he thought he would finally revenge his defeat on mustafar.
I can picture Kenobi trolling Vader after 👻:hello there! 😂
Obi Wan allowed him to strike him, Obi Wan ascended, Anakin did not.
I do wonder how this is connected to Plagueis.
Obi Wan was always a faithful and principled master to Anakin. As soon as Anakin reasserted himself over the Vader persona, Obi Wan was there to give him instruction on how to transition into the force and save himself.
I blame the writers. Vader should have easily beaten Kenobi.
Not really. Anakin himself admitted Kenobi was as “wise as Master Yoda and as powerful as Master Windu…”. Obi Wan was a very formidable opponent as Vader all too well knew. Palpatine knew it too and that is why he told Vader to let it go.
@@marial8235 Please, Kenobi was just lucky. His midi-chlorians are average at best.
@@reviews.7399 Anakin had a high midichlorian count and was a bust. Genetics are hot everything.
What if on the Death Star instead of killing obi wan Vader takes him prisoner
Kenobi didn't lose the battle and probably could have won again but he saw he had a greater purpose as a force ghost than as a living human
This is my opinion... but medichlorians aren't the end all be all of a strong a jedi can be. It dictates capabilities, but not skill. Kenobi's count isn't impressive, but his skills and experiences make him very formidable with what he has. Medichlorians can help you in a dual with force abilities, but they do not influence one's skill with the Saber.
Do it.
Yeah do the video
yo u should make that vid
He also lost in the obi in the kenobi show
the death star only has flat, level floors
I think we should focus on the duel at the end of "Kenobi". That's when we see Obi-Wan at his fullest, his true power. I think at that moment he could have easily challenged Windu, Yoda or Palpatine and won. It's like he was channeling everything he had in that fight. That was the only time we've ever seen it.
From watching the movie scene, they both looked out of practice.
When someone beats you over and over, and over, you get spooked. Like all sad little sithys.
Vader was also going to tell that he was in search for #TDBank💳 card and encountered Obi Wan Kenobi and wasn't ready to take him on and was being a dick about it! 🌎💘💰
I would like that place to have a video like that please and thank you. God bless you and Jesus loves you.
Requested
Even when i first watched star wars as a kid, i always thought kenobi wasnt taking the duel seriously, almost like he was just buying time till he saw luke and company got to the falcon
The Kenobi series retroactively adds very good reason for Anakin to be wary of Kenobi given he got utterly trounced in every regard the last time they fought despite Kenobi being very rusty, as well as how Kenobi totally outsmarted him, since it's one of the few times after he gets used to his armour that he doesn't try his usual blitz tactics and instead tries to wait Kenobi out.
Day 428 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon
7:02 “not only did he did not know” lmao I’m half convinced these are written by ai with the sheer speed and quantity these videos come out with
Eh, outside the movie, sure, but the fight that happened in the movie wasn’t even much of a fight.
Darth Vader was not more powerful than Obi-wan on the Death Star. George Lucas said that Kenobi was more powerful,( a level 6 while vader was a level 4) Obi-wan knew this, but allowed Vader to strike him down in front of Luke. This propelled Luke into wanting even more to become a Jedi and take down the Empire. Also Kenobi had the force ghost high ground.
Nope
@@justinholmes9472 so George Lucas is wrong about his creation?
Facts.. finally.. most don't know that.. Obi Wan didn't get weaker because he got old, which most people think.. He was one with the force and much stronger than Vader, Sidious and Yoda but just because he reached that level he knew what he had to do and knew what the force wanted .. if he had destroyed Vader and Sidious Luke would never have become a Jedi and would not have helped the next generations.
I read somewhere that Vader tried to force through Obi Wan's shield (as he does to everyone) but he had no chance and that at that moment he saw on what level Obi Wan was at. And when Obi Wan just disappeared it made Vader even more angry.
Kenobi has never lost to Vader and would never lose to Vader. Kenobi is much more powerful in the Force than Vader and a master duelist. Obi Wan Kenobi gave himself up on the Death Star. If he had not, Obi Wan would have either killed Vader or defeated him long enough to escape on the Millenium Falcon with Luke, Han and Leia.
Obi Wan died to allow Anakin to be redeemed.
Darth Vader hated Kenobi. Hated him for not being the perfect master. For not being a perfect friend. For his profound loss to him at Mustafar. His hatred of Kenobi became even more when Kenobi managed to defeat him enough at the moon near Jablim to simply walk away from the dual , leaving his former student screaming into the night. The mighty Sith Lord was not worth Kenobi's time in that moment. The ultimate insult.
He hated Kenobi because Kenobi, showed the Dark Side and Palpatine could be resisted. This doubly stung Vader as he knew his master was no where near his strength in the force.
He hated Kenobi for allowing Vader to win their last fight.
He hated Kenobi because he had loved him and deep down he knew Kenobi was the better man.
This is great. Obi-Wan did perfect job! Vader didn't kill him. He passed wilingly in the Force. I agree. It follows duel on Mustafar perfectly.Vader's approach to duel is excellent. But he's like you said student. I like this videos.May the Force be with you always😊
I mean Obi-Wan beat him and could've killed him twice so I think Obi-Wan felt bad and finally gave Anakin a win
imagine being mad at your former master, that they couldnt finish your training cause you decided to quit and take the easy path to power instead of the long and hard path to knowledge and wisdom to use it haha thats why i like anikin always the crybaby, always true to his core.
:/ i mean...he did lose tbh. everyone knows kenobi jus gave up to let vader get his first ever feeling of a win jus to haunt his ass about losing not once, twice, or even 3 times, but every single fight theyve ever seriously had lol. master kenobi was not to be messed with.
Obi one was a noob
That was so funny Kenobi took that victory from Vader and Vader was in fear seeing his body gone 😂
Thinking back that Vader went through the galaxy exterminating Jedi, and yet every time he fought Obi Wan he lost, tells me Obi wan was a far greater Jedi Master than all the others of his time and highly underrated.
Vader: "I must admit, I almost lost this fight.. I underestimated my old master."
Ahsoka in the background: "It wouldn't be the first time."
Given how easily he defeated Maul. I definitely think he could have defeated Darth Vader again and chose not to. Instead he chose the Force
Kenobi learn to be a force ghost, after the fall of the republic. So he did not the ability yet to teach Anakin.
lol the new Disney wars kills me. Vader was this massively feared with lord…who could never beat OWK, ever…it really destroyed his legacy and for me his reputation but Disney is great at ruining iconic characters
If Anakin had that New Hope mentality on Mustafar, he would've definitely won.
