Neil Peart was a Canadian-American musician and author, best known as the drummer and primary lyricist for the rock band Rush. Peart has received numerous awards for his musical performances, including an induction into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1983, making him the youngest person ever so honored. He is known for his technical proficiency and creative ability to compose behind the drum set.

Drum Channel founder Don Lombardi comments: Neil Peart's loss was devastating on two levels. First, of course, to the entire drumming community. As Jimmy Chamberlin recently commented, “A piece of Neil lives in nearly every contemporary drum part in rock- whether people realize it or not.”
Secondly, on a personal level. Before every tour, Neil would block out a Drum Channel studio for a full month to practice before Rush rehearsals even started. One big lesson I definitely learned from Neil is always be prepared.
While he was at DC we would have lunch every day in my office and he would always want to know what other drummers might be coming in to visit or record. It was always amazing to me that he was just as excited to meet his drumming idols as they were to meet him.
There are so many great memories. I once bought a light at Restoration Hardware because I thought the wing screw design would be perfect for the Time Machine set- and Neil agreed.
When he liked something he would just light up. If he thought something was not quite right, he would never say he didn’t like it. He would just say, “Let’s try something different.”
Neil cared greatly about education for drummers and the importance of having a good private teacher. He almost quit drumming at one point but his teacher encouraged him to keep going.
There is a lot that we can learn from Neil as a person and a drummer. We will do our best to continue our mission... as he wanted it. - Don Lombardi

There’s nothing else to be said about Neil… He’ll live forever within all music lovers!
He'll continue to influence generations of drummers as well! RIP Professor
Unfortunately
Truly one of the greatest drummers of all time. R.I.P. Neil...!!
One of? He is THE greatest drummer of all time
Thank you, but I think Buddy Rich, IMHO, is the greatest drummer of all time!
I'm sorry I just don't see his greatness coming through on this. It's so basic. NP is kinda overrated. If you wanna have your mind blown by a drummer, look up Billy Cobham.
@@b.p.879 whaaaat??? Man look he's drums solo in Rush in rio and tell me he is simple
@@b.p.879 Well let's see your video doing it. We will wait.
This is why I like CZcams. Legends like Neil can live on forever.
In 1979 high school; HEMISPHERES did it for me and I was instantly a Rush fan forever.
Wow I can't believe this was over a decade ago!! Feels like yesterday.
What a Legend - gone way too soon. : (
He was a very hard worker- always practised to perfection! Phenomenal drummer.
And when he had all the joint, ligament problems he hung his sticks up because he couldnt give it that 100 percent
I was only able to see Rush in concert 3 times BUT one of them was in front row on the Test For Echo tour. My friend and I both had our eyes locked on Neil. It was really something to see him do what he does, up close for the whole show.
notice he played it exactly the same every time, what a legend
THE PROFESSOR! THE BEST EVER!!
Slick 👍
Neil never ceases to impress 🙏
Still one of the best most crisp snare sounds in drumming history. And every serious drummer knows the import of a tight snare sound. Astounds me as always.
Rip🙏Neil Pert! The greatest drummer that ever lived!😢
This man iZ the ONLY reason that I picked up a pair of sticks!!! After watching "Exit... Stage Left" when I waZ 15 years old, I knew I wanted to learn drums. I got my first Kit on my 16th birthday, about three months later!!!👍👍🥁🤘🤘🤘😃😃😃🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁☺️ RIP Mr Peart. You will always be one of my greatest heroes--ever!
Same story as you, only it was after I saw them live in 2010 on the time machine tour; and I personally know a kid who started playing in quick order after seeing one of the last shows on the R40 tour.
That's how we come to terms with his death... because there's a thousand stories like this for every generation that saw them. You could say that about a lot of artists, but Neil in particular had a way of making people really fall in love with the music.
@@mikekelly7862 You Sir, are SO right!!!🥁
The great ones make it look easy and Neal makes this look like a walk in the park! RIP Neal.
He always performed at peak no matter what.
A true master of his art.
My greatest inspiration to learn the most difficult styles in percussion. Truly a master without compare. RIP Neil.
No matter what drum kit Neal played he always made it sing, there will never be another like him....RIP My Mentor, Miss You Neal
That drum set is beautiful with all the blue hardware. Hopefully that kit is in a museum or the Hockey Hall of Fame. You can tell Neil's having a lot of fun.
It is, it's in the Hockey HOF in Toronto.
I made a commitment when he passed to better myself. I'm happy with how I'm playing but the most important thing Neil taught me? You can always be improving and striving for more and learn more. Thank you for everything you've done for music, Professor. See you on the other side!
@Google Sucks Ass i know Nate Smith? I need to search Makaya..
Physically he is no longer with us but Neil more than earned that we remember him with joy for having been able to enjoy him for so many years and we will never stop learning from him, his legacy will be eternal.
Always great to see and hear Bubba again. Forever in our playing. ❤
Legend..." 🔥👑⚔️🇧🇷🛡️🥁

WOW!! I'd never heard of this tune, Amazing!!
It was the theme for "Hockey Night in Canada " for 3 decades . Most Canadian kids from Neil's generation would hear it every Saturday all winter.
The G.O.A.T. ROCK DRUMMER.
Emocionante! Quanta musicalidade e técnica!
This is so cool. Only Neil could do something like this.
RIP Neil....as a young drummer he was my first true idol
I didn't know Nick produced this! Amazing and miss you Professor. ❤
he was the master in my eyes 🥁🥁⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👏
I love it👍
A huge fan of his since I was a little kid, as a "young adult" and non-reader of books, someone tuned me in to "Ghost Rider". I, perhaps oblivious, had no idea that he was even an author. I bought the book purely because he was one of my drum heroes. Twenty plus years later, I read every day. I'm even literally reading Ghost Rider for the third time. RIP Neil. They broke the mold.
He is one of my favorites I have seen him in concert and without a doubt he was one of the best. we Miss you, Neal.
Damn I miss Neil

Great footage!! Thanks
Neal will never be,forgotten.he's jamming,in the skie's.
My 1st concert was Rush in 1977 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Neil Peart, Getty Lee and Alex Lifeson awakened a love of music in my soul of which I am forever grateful! I would say this video made my jaw drop but it's Neil...his very being was jaw dropping!!
Love and miss you so much, Neil…so very proud of you, and of everything you accomplished. Rest easy, sweet angel. 🙏🏻♥️

My favourite drummer. I love the hockey kit also!
Neil Peart:: FUCKING ONE OF A KIND LEGEND!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"The Professor" once again surpasses the limit of drumming mankind. He was (is) the most talented, creative drummer who ever lived. I would have liked to see him jam with Charles Berthoud on bass and Steve Morse on guitar. That would have been epic. RIP Neil...🥁👑
R.I.P. Neil, Go Leafs Go 🇨🇦
Awesome composition Neal! The very end sounded off to me in every take. Must be me.
Loved to see him play with stomping tom
Sorry, I would have loved to see him play with stomping tom.
Forever in our hearts !!!
*Respect!* 👏👏👏
Nice.
No matter how big or how small the drumset is, we can clearly hear Neil's style throughout.
Goddamn. In his 50s and 60s, Neil was better than most drummers in their 20s and 30s. He was indefatigable.
Freaking amazing
