“It should be illegal to have trailing missions in a video game.”

Pro tip : in any “trailing mission” , you have the option of sprinting full speed and the character you’re trailing behind will also sprint while maintaining whatever dialogue is being said. Saves a shit ton of time. Blows my mind that people don’t know this
Pizza Passta Yea same that’s why I was never annoyed with them and sometimes I wouldn’t mind walking because I would get lost in the scenery
This cant be done in every game
He's not talking about that, what you're talking about is just following NPC's. He is referring to missions in which you actually have to trail enemies while hiding
there were a lot of trailing missions but they are all short and give you insight about the lore of Tsushima and I don't have a problem with them
They still suck though. Just saying.
“The stealth makes the game almost too easy”... what if that was on purpose? Your uncle tells you that only cowards kill from the shadows. The whole point is that the stealth option puts you further from your samurai code. One time when i stealth killed someone, the scene of him telling you about facing your enemy with honor, flashed in and out seemingly out of nowhere. To remind your character what he is essentially doing. He’s breaking the code he lives his whole life by. Being dishonorable. But is it necessary? Perhaps they made stealth stupid easy to make you feel like it is too easy... being a samurai isn’t supposed to be easy. Idk I’m probably reading into it too much and the developers might have not bothered tweaking the stealth mechanics
That was... beautiful. Thank you for your input.
It does that like after the 3rd assasination
Stealth isn't easy though the Mongols are like bloodhounds and blow their horn when they get shot with an arrow. Idk what these game reviewers are talking about with un responsive stealth.
I wished the stealth was as easy as he said where the ai was dumb af. My experience the Mongols hunted me the moment I killed someone, even when I use a wind chime to lure away an enemy facing his teammate he turns around as soon I kill his teammate even with a maxed out tanto. Stealth was very hard early game.
@Vean Studio In Assassin's Creed you could be in a blade of grass and suddenly you're invisible to every enemy around you no matter what you're wearing. In this game, it's the same.

I feel like this is what assassins creed should have become
Ubisoft cares more about profits than making an immersive experience. They spend 2 years at most on AC games whereas Sucker Punch spent over 5 years on Ghost of Tsushima. It is greed and laziness that has held AC back from becoming a great series
And Valhalla will be continue the trash process. Reusing environmental grids, some of the most boring side missions an RPG can have, and a completely dead story.

@@nah6892 I agree, I feel Jin's story is wrapped up but maybe a William Wallace esque story where you have a claymore would be awesome, or a Robin hood type game.
If you spend the time exploring the game instead of rushing the main story, I found that it wasn't really a grind to complete all the armor sets.
For games like these, i usually explore the areas first, and then proceed to the main story.
@@AngeMaru486 I always do that on my second playthrough of games. Like God Of War, I first played by just focusing on Main Missions and the occasional side mission, then when I 100% my first save, I replay knowing where everything important or good is.

I honestly haven't had any problems with the AI in stealth. They seem to be quite responsive
Nope, not for me. Had 2 guys look directly at me, not in a bush, right next to em, and detection meter didn't do anything. 1 guy with a cold stare, other litterally spazzing in the corner shit was the funniest thing I've seen. Also past like 40 meters, enemies looking directly atchu while you are crouched cant see you.
Not a big deal tho. Not game breaking.
@@FastFoodJapan I also played on hard and didn't have a problem with the ai, when they saw a dead body (which they can see from very far away if it's not in a bush) they would run over in a group and blow their horns to alert everyone else in the camp. honestly, idk why everyone is comparing this to Sekiro, Nioh, or AC... if anything it reminds me more of Way of the Samurai, or an open world Onimusha.
Ac only
Sekiro - Music
Nioh - Stances
AC - Feels like it
The game mechanically offers nothing new but the mechanics were executed well.
Personally, I can find many connections to this game and AC (After all, when I was first playing, the first thoughts that came to mind was that it's a lot like AC) but I can't see Sekiro or Nioj, other than the time era.
For me it reminds me of The Witcher more than anything. The patience in combat and quick changes you need to make in a second.
It's AC if it was great, Batman Arkham stealth and free flow combat with a TINY bit of Sekiro influence. They basically copied the guard breaking system from Sekiro. It's just a lot easier. None of this is bad by the way. Sucker Punch exceled at implementing the mechanics of the games which inspired it. That being said there's nothing really innovative in it. Just an incredibly consistent quality experience from start to end.
The camera in this game is the one secret Mongol that Jin can’t defeat.
I never had any problems with the camera tbh
Verified1x do you have a problem with the lock on though? I mean every dark soul have a problem with the lock on even dark soul 3

None of the repetitive missions or "follow" sequences bother me at all.
The feeling of living in this world is just so fantastic that I'm in full immersion mode and enjoying every second.
Yeah I agree, I feel follow mission can be unnecessary in video games but you are a shinobi in this gams. Shinobis’ historically were used for recon. They would’ve absolutely been trailing people back then and gathering info on people. It fits the setting and they arent overly frustrating in this game. So yeah I would disagree with him on that point.
Link Joestar You're a samurai, not a shinobi, but both did recon, so your point still stands
I dint know why but I as well wasn't bothered. I was expecting to be annoyed but its not like assassin creed black flag where you have to either move at a snails pace or keep up with a target thats started to get away. Its not many trail mission but even when you do them in this game you can go at your pace mostly and its quite enjoyable.
ThiccDonut yes but a samurai can be a shinobi too. In fact many samurai were shinobis. Shinobis were created in the Sengoku Period so more then likely Jin is an early descendant of a shinobi in his “ghost” form in the Kamakura Period. But it’s kinda confusing bc being a Samurai is more of a social class and being a shinobi is a job. So Jin is playing as both.
ThiccDonut but you’re right, Jin isn’t a shinobi as they weren’t created yet.
Gonna disagree with a few points.
1) Not reacting to dead bodies. - Well, they do. I shot a guy and when his body was found they started a search for me.
2) Not reacting to arrow shots. - Well, again, they do react. If you miss them, they will go the source of the noise and after the arrow is found, they try to search for you from the direction you shot. If arrow hit, then they will run to the place you shot from immediately.
3) Forced gamestyle in missions. - Yeah, I wanted to be a honorable samurai, but game forces you a couple of times to do it dirty. But I encountered it in only in mission which introduces techniques - stealth kills and poison darts. In other missions game let's you play the full-on samurai, even when it demands stealth. For example, you can show yourself to the couple of enemies and kill them in honorable fight before they raise the alarm.
4) About 15 seconds with "leaving mission area". - It's so rare, actually. Almost every mission can be interrupted, you can go whenever you want or even start another mission and all your progress will be saved. Game gives you a lot of freedom in that way.
5) Trailing missions. - I do agree, that this is annoying in most games, but in Ghost of Tsushima in 90% of the time NPC will adjust it's speed to yours. You can see it in a video, when Charlie starts sprinting NPC does too. It rarely limits your speed to slow walking. And speed adjust works on a horseback too. And mind you, it's in the mission where you follows an NPC and game let's you decide what the speed would be in moist cases.
I do agree and support other points. And yes. THE FUCKING CAMERA.
6) Although, I like auto-soft lock on in combat in this game. For 99% it works flawlessly. But the camera can't handle it, yeah.
facts
Yup, they even have an upgrade to silence your arrows because if you miss it will alert anyone near. And all they had to do was use sekiros lock on feature because it's perfect. Don't like the soft lock on.
Lol "moist" cases.
@@iHaveTheDocuments I prefer no lock on, I like that you can focus on multiple enemies, but the camera is fucked, especially when one enemy is in front of the enemy that is attacking so you can’t tell if you need to dodge or parry
I know that this is a kind of old thread but if you headshot enemies that have helmets on they will act surprised but go back to what they were doing, as if they completely forgot that they just got shot at. So that's probably what Mr.Moisty was referring to
Definitely a 9 out of 10 for me. I haven't been this in love with a game for a long time. The world is just so alive and the combat is very exciting. I haven't used fast travel yet because i thoroughly enjoy traveling. The devs made love to this game and it shows

That's what journalism ought to be. I can't even say that is what it used to be though.
I value Charlie's thoughts on a game, but I don't really find his overall value and "goodness" of a game to be consistent. His thoughts have evidence and are put together well. But, when it comes at the end to rating the game it just doesn't make sense. The reviews aren't consistent at all and he docks points for small reasons and let's big things slide, which leads to a number that doesn't really communicate what he said in the video. Basically kind of like IGN, except with IGN you know they are just always inflated, Charlie's numbers are just everywhere. However, I still generally like his reviews and his thoughts on new games.

They also did end up adding a lock on button a year or so after this vid but I STILL haven’t used it in my 300 hr playthrough so far and I’m playing on Lethal+; once you get the hang of the combat you’ll learn it’s not really needed 👍🏻
i also thing the original camera suits better with ghost of tsushima combat mechanics, but now we have option at least, if you used to play soulsborne then i think the lock on feature is pretty justifiable
think*
I think the stealth early on is easy but once you get into the end of Act one and beginning of act 2 it turns up. Enemies will spot dead bodies and sound an alarm putting everyone on watch for you. Because there are so many enemies, it’s hard to get one guy alone, especially later in the game where the war camps and castles are huge and packed full of enemies
We all know that Charlie and his fleshlight Katana are the strongest combo stance in Ghost of Tsushima
Very minor spoiler:
The amount of times you leave someone you are helping to go find something they need only to come back and find them dead is staggering.
So glad I'm not the only one who noticed that! Made sure to mention it in my review
For me it was a 9.5! I LOVED the game but I do agree the stealth is pretty bad in some areas and the camera angles are really bad sometimes! Good review!!
I've really been enjoying this game and am glad to see a positive review from Charlie. On the stealth though, I didn't get enemies that are dumb as shit and they functioned fairly well from what I could tell.
As we know , everybody loved this Japanese masterpiece. But did you know that this video is sponsored by manscaped?
it is indeed, sponsored by manscaped
Just copped one. The Amazon has been growing immaculately.
Guilherme Tinoco the game got hate by non Japanese journalist and the Japanese love the game lmao
I don't know if I like it I'm on Xbox
That was necessary cuz we all have a bamboo jungle down there.
Imagine if Fallen Order lightsaber felt as deadly as Tsushima I'd probably like it
@d nasty Cal is supposed to be an inexperienced jedi and rusty so I felt the lightsaber combat complimented his character development.
Maybe in the next one they'll will make his combat style alot more exciting and feel deadlier
Sort of like how in kingdom hearts 1 Sora swings the keyboard like its a heavy club. But in kingdom hearts 1 he fights cocky as hell with it one handed spinning it blocking shots backhanded, thay was a cool detail from Nomura lol
fallen order is just a copy paste. i liked it but holy fuck it's the most unoriginal game.
RIGHT ANGLE I remember someone reviewing the game before it came out saying “it felt like a Frankenstein of other games” he listed a couple of games but the one I remember the most is uncharted
i've been playing this game for 3 days straight from 10am to 11pm. It is absolutely a stunning open world game..love it !
i think the hidden gem of this game is the charms. they made it so that you'll have incentive to track those down because it'll help you do cool stuff. i couldn't care less about collectible items and clothing, but man, i was suck in to finding those resolve and terrify charms.
I honestly disagree about the stealth it’s not that easy.
18th birthday and here I am, waking up at 4:30pm and watching Jesus make ass jokes while reviewing a game.
Happy birthday brotha, to think you were 11 when Skyrim came out.
Happy birthday king, this is the ideal way to celebrate
chin up your crowns falling.
Same bro
prophetic0311 if he was 11 when Skyrim came out that would mean he was born in 2000, he would be 20 today
My most and least proud moment was when I assassinated an entire fort just to end up loosing a one on one with your average red armored 2 sword soldier
It makes me cry how beautiful this is
Yuriko's tale... Mrs Masako, Norio's Brother. I cannot believe they made a sidequests/tales so strong and meaningful ♡
Yuriko’s death made me put down my controller for 5 minutes because I felt bad for her. It was a great portrayal of mental illness
Seriously one of the best games I've ever played. And I've been playing video games all my life. Absolutely beautiful game. Props to Sucker Punch
Hey Charlie since you're a fan of the samurai era a movie that I recommend would be Seven Samurai. I will forewarn you though it's three and a half hours long, but it is totally worth watching for the great story and well filmed battle sequences
Watched your play through before watching this. I guess this answers my question some what.
Did the enemy ai get an upgrade between this video and now? Because I just finished my first playthrough of ghost (ps5 version) and the enemies pay more attention to their surroundings. They would react to a lot of different things. It made the stealth a lot of fun. I liked all the options i had at my disposal to mess with the enemies
I can't believe they made a country after this game.
Truly fascinating.
It’s not even accurate like where tf are the samurais 😒 0/10 worst places to visit
@sokyu no can't believe they made a race from this game
I love that there is no lock on. I’m playing on hard first time and it works just fine. Yeah you have to look around while weilding and parrying, but thats the fun of it, it actually gives you more freedom this way.
I hope they continue to build on this IP with dlc and other future titles. I share the same gripes with the camera and the repetitive outpost clearing, I'm still thoroughly enjoying ghost and I can only imagine how much greater this title could get if they make more content in the future.
The game allows you to play as both a samurai and a shinobi.
I really love that feature.

Now, I played this game more recently, but when he started to describe the stealth, that doesn’t sound like anything what I experienced. Hell they got pissed even if a dog was found killed. Maybe it was a bug/flaw that got patched. No idea. The rest is pretty spot on though.
I really like the camera controls when you fight small groups of enemies, but anything more than 6 gets pretty chaotic.
what do u guys sit here and refresh all day i literally just got the notification and it already had 2k views
Yes, that’s exactly what they do. I’ve seen my nephew do it. Just sat there for two days refreshing his favorite CZcamsrs page because he expected a video soon. no life having weirdos
Pretty sure they fixed stealth
2nd game I got the platinum for. Loved every minute 👍🏻
Sony has this for free now with the new PS plus system and I'm in love with this game. Open world games get old but they way they made it their own. Fantastic.
My favorite part of the game is where the American plane flies by
Why
Haha Funny
Yeah, loved that part.
Oh man, and that part when tom cruise shows up and constantly kills you because he's not the last samurai, it's Just amazing!
I also love when they dropped the atomic bomb
3:58 i Wonder if you had some bug going on or since then there was a patch, cause i've started playing the game only like 2 days ago.
And each time there's a corpse on the ground, if its in the Line of Sight of an enemy, they will rush to where the corpse is, look around and then sound the alarm, and its a consistent behavior i've been seeing in the game, but i've seen other reviewers who played the game since Day1 who also says that the IA isn't that great, even tho if i'm not carefull, enemies are litteraly juggling my arse into the air...
So i suspect there was a patch of some sort after launch?
I've been playing the day 1 version sesns I go the game due to my internet sucking. And the AI is Good imo enemy's notice bodys, stealth is hard at times.
The truest movie tv and game reviewer
Haven’t had the same experience as you with the stealth, I had enemies stumbling across bodies and instantly sounding the alarm, missed shots resulting in an alarm sounding, etc. Otherwise pretty spot-on.
I got the platinum trophy on the hardest difficulty, and I gotta say the camera was rarely a bother while playing. When enemies swarm you it gets annoying, but I think it makes it more realistic as having like 10 guys on you should probably kill you and get a bit confusing. Also, enemies always notice and blow on their horn when you find a body, and every other enemy in the area comes over, but what he said about enemies barely noticing you and being pretty stupid is true. Can’t believe he didn’t mention exploration though. Besides the big main quest sieges and battles that’s the best part of the game
Just replayed on lethal. This game slaps. So f’ing good.
Honestly, this game reminded me a lot of Metal Gear Solid. Absolutely amazing and most definitely a work of art. Not only did the game accomplish realism, but it went a step further and was fun.
Bruh you produce really good content
like Dunkviews
Ima be honedt the trailing missions for me were not fun but more calming since the scenary however dull or however bright, was amazing you got to see the details the devs put into the game and the hard work they put in, as well as if you wanted to speed it up you could by full sprinting
Also there’s only three or four trailing missions throughout the entire 25+ hour game. Definitely not impactful enough to criticize it as much as he did
Game is a 8/10 because it has a bloodborne reference
I don't really get the camera complaint. It exists, sure, but it exists in virtually every action game. One of Charlie's favorite games is Nioh, and it has a camera arguably worse than this one. It's a problem, sure, but it almost doesn't seem fair to call it a problem when it's the same problem that everything else has.
"hurr durr it's a problem everywhere therefore it is no longer a problem"
@@henkle1610
Daw. Baby needs lock on because the game is too hard. :)
@@frogglen6350 bet that comment made you feel real good about yourself buddy. i don't even own a ps4, i was just highlighting how brain dead mr moist man's take sounds.
@@henkle1610 no need to be a dick. You aren't tough for talking shit online, so cut it. That aside though, the point isn't that it's not a problem, but that Charlie very specifically targets that one flaw, yet doesn't do so with any other game. He spent a good couple minutes just solely ragging on the, (frankly not THAT bad), camera, when he doesn't do so for games that have far worse cameras. It's hypocritical, and not exactly fair from a rating perspective. I made that decently clear in my comment though, if you had a mind to read a little better before being an ass.
@Far Stox ya I feel that. I think it's less about the camera, and much more so about the bad auto lock. Auto lock works really well in a lot of games, but it has to be done well, and it just isn't here. Still, I feel the point dockage for that flaw is a bit extreme, since it still functions properly most of the time.
I loved the combat in this game. I wish there was more variety in mid-level boss types. Fought those golden mongols a million times and they eventually have 0 chance.
Love that there aren’t any stupid massive beast bosses like in FromSoft games. But, just want more variety in terms of move sets and skills of opponents.
Spot on with that lock on
If you squint your eyes it looks like Charlie’s wearing a ski mask
Stolen
I hate you
If you squint yours eyes really hard you can't see anything
