RIP Bobby Ball and RIP Rick Parfit . This has reminded me how good Tommy and Bobby were. Obviously Tommy is still with us , but it shows what fabulous performers they were as a double act.
Cannon and Ball did the pantomime season some years ago at the Grand Opera House in Belfast and it was by far the best, funniest panto that I’ve ever been to. I’m over 70 now so I’ve been to a lot of pantos. They were brilliant.
Lucky enough to work back stage in 87 for opera house blackpool and cannon and ball season show...I was 16 and such fun and eye openers for me...great memories and laughs..😊👏👏.....rip bobby 🌹
Love all the negative comments from the Russell Brand fans. Before they made it to TV Cannon and Ball used to fill the clubs and stars of the small screen would turn up in the audience to watch true craftsmen at work. They were the only comedians you could see every night of the same week and laugh every night of that week. TV didn't do them justice, same for Russ Abbot and to some extent Freddie Starr. Haters hate on Tommy and Bobby were great whether or not you agree doesn't really matter, does it?
I was in my early 20's when they came out, thought they were dire, as was Little and Large........... though I was brought up on Morecambe and Wise, so these lot couldn't hold a candle to them.
@@theknightwhosaysni1356 Yeah, the Morecambe & Wise, Two Ronnies, Mike Yarwood, Goodies and Dave Allan years spoiled us. Comedy couldn't match it and needed a new direction which came some years later. But comedians attracted to ITV were less funny there, I'm not sure why but the writing was cruder and lacking in finesse.
I'm no Brand fan, but watching this sober rather than in a club after a few pints doesn't help. The truth is they weren't very funny then and they aren't now.
This was the first time id seen what Quo looked like back in 1984, Id herd 12 gold bars and liked some of the songs. This clip (although cringeworthy now) cemented my love for the band. Although I still remeber that after all the Caroline intros I was Dissaponted that they played Marg Time.
Yes you can really see it with the good cop bad cop type routines and the falling out etc.. Not a bad thing, I'm sure the lads took inspiration from a lot of the 70's and 80's variety acts. Ant and Dec have been on top for many years for good reason, they are funny lads who don't take themselves to serious and they deal well with celebs and public alike.
This is really crap but good at the same time!!! "Leave him, leave him..." is brilliant, but the old "I want to introduce the act rubbish was done almost every week by these 2!!
Fuck me, they must have been completely skint to have agreed to this. Or greedy. Either way, Cannon and Ball were major talents around this time as can be seen from the clip. Thank God the BBC saved this for future generations of comedy lovers.
shauna, im sure they never wrote the ad script, a duo that broke all box office records are fact, commanded larger tv audiences than any modern day comedian ever will
When Saturday night TV was worth watching
Absolutely true thank you my friend i couldn't have said it better myself
Got me through till it was my time for Saturday nights out. Great times.
Quo was bang on it!
Cannon and Ball weren't worth watching.
@@graemestarkey7524 I bet your a bundle of laughs

God Bless them both
Seriously? Gotta be honest this is just unfunny as hell!
Love cannon and ball and the mighty Quo...gold bless Bobby and Rick ❤
Nothing on television like that these days it was class
Bobby & Rik both gone too soon but by hell they gave us all good times. RIP.
Nothing can or ever will beat the old TV shows. I used to laugh until my stomach hurt.
Not seen this in years, used to have it on VHS. Love how Rick fluffs the intro on one of the times. They're both two criminally underated acts

Rick and Bobby miss you guys so so much…. R.I.P. guys… Legends 💔💔💔🌹🌹🌹👍
When British TV was great. Not one cook or makeover in sight.
Love this, the quo were great to join in, so so funny 👏👏👏👏
They dont even know who they mess around with 😆 its legends and its even in there prime time !!!
When even stars had a sense of humour real life
I remember watching this on TV as a kid. It’s what got me into Status Quo.
Lucky enough to work back stage in 87 for opera house blackpool and cannon and ball season show...I was 16 and such fun and eye openers for me...great memories and laughs..😊👏👏.....rip bobby 🌹

From the days before politicised dullards.

@skreppvin think it was 1983 from the back2back album
Oh where was the rest of it?
RIP Bobby ball
lmbo,, fecken Great,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Very funny
Yep 😂
Quo rule
Shauna, when you get a a sense of humour, give it another go. Mug
Should have kept the music too!
Best double act ever, preferred them to Morecambe and Wise and the Two Ronnies…all day long 😊
Better than Two Ronnies ??? You are joking me!! Two Ronnies "Four Candles" is a classic.
M&W and The Two Ronnies are forever the top for me but these two are certainly up there too. Legends!
Seriously? Aww well takes all sorts. Bet you think Mrs Brown's Boys is funny.
These Two could never hold a candle ( or Four ) to the Two Ronnies or Morecambe and Wise.😅
Wow, what a dreadful opinion. You must hate comedy!
what did he start playing when bobby said status quo
Caroline
They are actually born again christians these days.
Drug takers….then the one touched his nose and grinned…spot on bobby
good clean fun ,all round family entertainment Not like the crap on telly now with all this reality shit
danke für das lustige video. leider ist mein englisch ziemlich schlecht so dass ich so gut wie
nix verstehen kann.......
Note no Alan lancaster.he hated marg time big time!
Happy days

Louie Theroux behind bars
I see Alan Lancaster is missing. He had left by then.
Nice clip ends when the Quo starts great :(
Found my self here after hearing the sad news.
Heard the news yesterday of Bobby Ball sad, aaw his 2boys on tv this morning! Talking about him, still making them smile and giggle.
Living on island? Such wimscal perblets. Not lyk bugar frhom wimpey? me to like rokyroll quo tops.
Where's Alan Lancaster?
is there no beginning to there talent cannon and ball that is.
Their talent.
leider verstehe ich kein englisch.....

Is that Kenny Jones on the drums
Pete Kircher
Although Kenny Jones was friends with Rick and Francis
*why is Leo Sayer taking so long to introduce his rivals ...*
same old shit how did they make it baffles me
Cannon and Ball: Laugh? I thought I'd never start.
I didn't.
Did Ant n Dec copy these chaps a bit. ?
Yes you can really see it with the good cop bad cop type routines and the falling out etc..

Ant and Dec have been on top for many years for good reason, they are funny lads who don't take themselves to serious and they deal well with celebs and public alike.
Ant & dec are the biggest talentless tossers EVER to appear on tv,their profiles have comments turned off because people have left slagged them off.
This is really crap but good at the same time!!! "Leave him, leave him..." is brilliant, but the old "I want to introduce the act rubbish was done almost every week by these 2!!

Itv
Maybe they enjoyed Cannon and Ball's comedy and did it just to have a good time (while being paid as well).
@@skyhogg8000 well it's a known fact they love coronation Street, makes sense they like this
Perhaps it was about promoting the records like everyone did in those non social media times.
Maybe they were just desperate!!😅
Rumour has it that Bobby was genuinely annoyed with Status Quo during this as they didn't rehearse any of it.
I think they were trying to copy Morecambe and Wise here..
shauna, im sure they never wrote the ad script, a duo that broke all box office records are fact, commanded larger tv audiences than any modern day comedian ever will
We only had 3 channels then and none were on all day, so lacked choice
A Glaswegians review.............................. Shite
How the hell did these pair get their own series, this was old hat even then🙄!
