  • Fuel Matters with Lake Speed Jr. This was a great conversation explaining why fuel matters. Lake and I discuss an array of reasons to be considered about the fuel you use and why it is important to know where you are going, so you can plan the best course to get there.
    There is even bonus content about Smokey Yunick and vaporization for optimum gain. Smokey was right! #smokeybelongs.
    As always, I invite you to like and subscribe, and I welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
    Thanks for watching!

    Ah wicked!
    Lake Junior is great, I learned a lot in his live chat with Dragboss and I’m excited to see him on your channel.

      Wow! So 1990’s 87 octane could have a substantially different flame speed from todays E10 87 octane?

    I was careful to make sure that I had the fuel in my car, a blend of Sunoco SS100 race gas with 91 octane Shell V-Power Nitro+, to produce the blended average octane I was going to use on the street when I went to my dyno tuning session. After normalizing the A/F ratios across the rev range, the tuner was able to optimize the ignition timing for maximum power and a built in safety factor to prevent detonation. As a result of the improvements in the intake system, the exhaust system and the optimized fuel metering and ignition timing, the engine's efficiency was improved enough that the loss of gas mileage was negligible, despite the richer A/F ratios. The bonus was a cooler running engine with about a 15% increase in torque across the entire rev range.

    So type of racing or use.
    Type of fuel available or required by rules.
    Build engine to those specifications.

    We are lucky to learn this ! My question is : how does 10 % Ethanol affect vapor pressure ?

    Av gas smells great out the exhaust. For a 2 stroke use Klots bean oil, I've smelt nothing better. Follow a two stroke bike all day.

    With difference in cylinder wall finish there is a difference in cylinder wall oil retention so how is that determined in the oil dilution of fuel mixtures and its effect on "near wall high rpm detonation" characteristics which quite often show up on dyno as an unexplained dip in power curve near peak torque or peak hp which is not just found on high compression engines

    • @MrDanielSoliz
      @MrDanielSoliz  Před 11 měsíci +4

      Oil control is very important, oil has a different octane then fuel and can and will cause detonation. Smokey could do it by reading plugs.
