Flea market haul "camping edition" I liked the hatchet, but the knife was amazing! I would love to see videos on those as well as the frying pans. Since my heart attack 6 weeks ago i have been living vicariously through you and several others in the tool community. I hope to get back to the shop and have some fun soon. Thanks for all you share!
Oh Man Patrick hope you get back on your feet soon! I'll be doing all three for sure..just might take a while to get to them except the pans..I keep finding them on my work bench..I think the wife is dropping hints...Take care of yourself and talk to you soon.
Hey! I had a big heart attack in 2023 while at the flea mkt! Like you I discovered all the videos on CZcams and spent 7 months recovering. Now I’m back at it discovering all the cool tools and camping equipment that I learned about from CZcams videos! Good luck
@@1961MJS thank you!! I am back at work, but very light duty. I come home and nap instead of going to the shop
PSA: Always eat a decent meal before shopping. GREAT finds. Thanks again
Good pro tip and I gotta tell ya I was starving when I went to the Market.
Awesome haul! I also had that same knife and do again- you need to clean it up and make it useable! Great stuff!!!! 😃👍
Thanks John! I will !
George, restore the lot!! - We´ll watch. It´s the Hatchet for me today.
Thanks Stephen, I'll get them done for sure. I am blown away to own that hatchet! I really do appreciate the kind words.
Yes on the hobo knife clean up 💯
Thank You! I'll get to it pretty soon. Just gotta clear a few projects off my list first.
Ol camp knife wins this week Mr. George! Good little haul this week once again!
Thanks Big Brother. I was quite excited to find it. If i remember correctly mine was just a bit different.
The hatchet is definitely my favorite and I would definitely like to see it restored
Thank You Mr. John. I'm definitely gonna get to it but I gotta do those pans first. Chrissy said so and well you know can't argue with that!
Good Flea Market haul. That hatchet is really nice. Wood handles are awesome. Would definitely like to see the Hobo knife restored. I think restoring those frying pans on camera is a great idea. Changes things up a little bit. Love the video!
Mike,Mike, Mike!! Thanks Brother. I will be cleaning the hatchet and knife.. I Have to do those pans..Wife's orders.. LOL, I just didn't know if you guys would be interested in it. I like to mix it up a bit. Take it easy and keep fighting the good fight Brother!
@@Uwannawatch 👍🏻
In my brief stint with BSA we learned and called things by the "proper" name. Our scout master and my general rearing from my dad were sticklers for that detail. I only skimmed through the comments, but I didn't see anyone call the BSA hand axe anything but a hatchet. My nerdy childhood instructors taught me that a hatchet is a carpenter's tool. This tool (hatchet ) is hammer length, straight handled, has a straight cutting edge, and a hammer face. A hand axe is a woodsman's tool, curved handle for primary use for chopping and splitting. The butt is intended for only driving soft materials, like wood. The blade is curved and the head is contoured for mild splitting duty with a gentle relief behind the cutting edge wedge before beginning the gentle major taper. The hand axe is a miniature hand held version of a full size or mid size axe.
Now approaching 70, I recall my rearing and my emotions won't allow the name misapplication for axes and hatchets. I am too young to have any practical use for a hatchet. My father would still occasionally use his to do some wood shaping carpentry tasks when I was a kid. I was raised to use tools for only the designed purpose to avoid damage to the tool and work. These characteristics won't allow me to use a screw driver for a chisel or pry bar. I can't force myself to drive a nail with a ball pien hammer or shape metal with a framing hammer. I almost can't use an adjustable wrench "backwards". When I do, I only use it that direction for light duty tasks.
Proper and specific tool use means that my tool hoard is mandatorily large, but most of my tools remain in pristine functional condition. My abused tools came to me used, except in very few regretable and shameful occurrences.
I think that I am naturally inclined in this hyper direction, but I routinely blame my rearing. I am not much of an axe guy. Real axe guys will really pontificate on this topic and put me to shame!
Hi Paul I'm George..I'm a plumber.
I spent a lot of time working in construction as you know and we just yell out what tool will do the job.
"Throw me a hammer" I don't care which one I just need a hammer.
I do see what you're saying though and there are actually a lot of people who are sticklers about what to call things..trust me I know..LOL.
You my friend I feel could hold your own in any conversation with anyone. Take care and talk to you soon.
Those camping multi-tools with fork and spoon remind me of camping with dad. Definitely worth the restoration.
I'm definitely going to do that knife.
Yes on the pocket knife!
Thanks John!
Of course we will watch, we'll watch you restore anything! That knife brought back memories for me as well. You can get rid of most of the tools in your shop, now that you have that! 🤣. Cool hatchet and that is going to look awesome cleaned up! Thanks for sharing brother.
Fred G! Speaking of watching restorations...Where was my Westhighland's vid on Friday?
Nice haul. Restoring the pocket knife would be cool.
Thank You! I'll be doing the knife in the near future.
Great finds! Can't wait for your restoration vids. Love the the hatchet and I would've paid $25 for it, just for the simple fact around here they would want more😢. Thanks for sharing and see you next time. Have a great week!
Mike, I don't see them around here too often and usually when i do they want big money for them. I am so amazed to have found one in my price range. Take care and see ya soon. Hope all is going smooth with the move.
George, along with the things you clean up and bring back to life, I would enjoy watching what you do to the giant skillet, and what you do after you remove the paint.. Thank you !!
Thank You Jack! The skillet is going to be first in line I think. The wife is really looking forward to it.
I don't know I might do a little cooking show and tell..Maybe..Thank you for always supporting me.
Your welcome George, and a cooking show would be great I'm always looking for a new recipe
I will watch any restoration video that you make!
Thank you so much! I appreciate it. I just don't want to film something that you wouldn't be interested in.
Perfect frying pan for your next fishing/camping trip 😉
Maybe...a little catch and cook😉
Yes to both the pans and the pocket knife videos
Thank you I'll get to them as soon as I can. I appreciate you letting me know.
Yes on hatchet and knife
Thank You!
You hit a great flea market. I have a similar size cowboy skillet and have a blast cooking over the campfire. Please do a knife, skillet, and hatchet restore video. My favorite item was the cowboy skillet. 👍🏻
Thank you Joe, I will get to all of them eventually..The wife is really looking forward to the skillet so I'll probably start with it.
I concur with David, you got so much great stuff I love the pans and the knife Especially the hatchet I would have dropped the hammer on that price too great find. I backpacked for over 20 years an would have loved that cook set. I still have all my stuff I used. Love the perfect handle screwdriver. You had a great day this week. Have a good week brother. Oh and the pans will make a great video.
Thanks Mr. Dale! That is so cool that you used to backpack. There is just something about it that is so satisfying They have all kinds of crazy gear now. It's amazing what they have come up with. . I will get those sooner or later but I think the pans are gonna come first.
I'm not a camper, but I think the Zebra stainless mess kit is very cool. Light, practical and convenient. The knife multitool looks just like the one my oldest brother carried for many years. Haven't seen one for years. The Boy Scout hatchet is a great score. I think the leather sheath contributed to the rust on the blade. BTW, in the last video you took those rare wrenches to just the right cleanup level. The light oil gives them a sheen and protects them. They look good on the wall. My comment didnt post.
Hey Pat! I'm telling you as soon as I picked that multitool up I was right back to being a younger me running around the pine barrens of Jersey..We spent all of our time there or at the water fishing.. I think you're right about the sheath so when I get the replacement I don't think I'll keep in on all the time. Thank you for commenting on the wrenches I really wanted to preserve them. I don't know how CZcams works but Ya everybody is having trouble with comments..
Good day for me too. I also follow you on Instagram today. Today I found my first NOS Perfect Handle screwdriver at the flea market. I have all the photos online. Happy Sunday. Federico
That's a great find! Thanks for the follow I'll check out your find when I get over to Instagram. Happy Sunday!
George love the boy scout hatchet, it brings me back. I had one just like it way way back. Lol. And I'm on board for any and all of your resto videos!. Take care
Thanks Ken, I appreciate it! That's so cool you had one of the hatchets..I never see them this good or for the price.
Great stuff love the Screwdriver Thanks for sharing your time George 🍺🍺👍👍
Thank You Brian! 🍺🍺🍻
You were deffo in a culinary mood 🤣🤣, love the pans and that knife is awesome, love to see ya clean it up , another screwdriver for restoration , love to see that too. The hatchet is a beauty , nice haul 🍻🇬🇧also I think the “ camping saucepans” is a tiffin box
Yes on all .
Thank You!
The Zebra cooker is a rice cooker. Rice and veg/meat in the upper chamber. Boiling water in the lower chamber. Rice/whatever is steamed. Hot water for tea or boiled water for safe drinking. I have many similar old JN Army in my collection of stuff my wife will one day inherent. Nice video.
Thank you and when you buy tools tell her you are building her inheritance. My wife is looking like a spoiled trust funder right now. LOL.
Some cool stuff you picked up
Thanks Man!
Hey !George les deux poêles sont superbes, le couteau de camping et la hache aussi.Les boîtes de camping idem ,vraiment de très belles trouvailles. ❤
Thanks Patrick! I think we are almost set for our next camping trip...
How you always come up with such great finds us beyond me , your flea market must be massive ! Definitely do a restore on the pen knife / cutlery set ... 😂 And the boys scouts axe is brilliant find .
Hey Jim! I got a few large Markets in my area and sometimes you just get lucky! I will do the knife restoration just for you.
NICE Hobo knife!! Boy scouts had a version of that, Look close for the makers mark. YES! Clean that dude up!
Thank You Mr. Wallace! I'll look for sure and I might need a little advice about this one.
Love that giant steel pan. That is the perfect camp cooking pan and big enough to feed a small army. You always find such great stuff--nice going George!
Thanks. Ya I saw that pan and thought it might be big enough to make breakfast for me and my three boys...LOL! You got any projects going? Been a while.
@@Uwannawatch Most of my time has been eaten up working on getting a friends house ready to sell, and i've got a car that got smashed up that i'm fixing up to get back on the road, but hope to have some new vids up soon.
You video, we watch! Another YES 😁
Thank You Mr. Wallace!
That hatchet is just so nice! 🥃 👍 😊
Thanks! It was a nice surprise find that's for sure.
Nice pickups! You can't beat that copper pan for $5. That Boy Scouts hatchet is awesome too, the wooden handle held up really well. Can't wait to see you bring that one back!
Thanks Brother I'll be working on them in the near future but I think the pans gotta get done first. Orders straight from the top. Oh Man I saw some Game boy games at the market but I knew I was in trouble when I picked one up and the vendor showed me his phone with an ebay listing...I walked away.
@@Uwannawatch I hear you on that one, the boss always comes first 😂. It’s such a bummer when people try to get eBay prices at the flea markets and sales.
Great video George!! I think you should restore the knife fork spoon multi tool. In the early 60’s when I was in Boy Scouts I found a knife like that someone from a previous camp group that lost it. My inner voice said I should turn it in so I did. The Scoutmaster said he would find the owner… well I found out he kept it and said how some dumb kid gave it to him… Oh well… such is life. I felt I did the right thing so please restore that knife!!! It’s just like the one I found!!! Thanks! The Old Army Scout…
Damn that's a great story and I truly believe you did the right thing! I will restore it!
I love that Boy Scout Hatchet! I had found a boy scout knife with a holder a couple of years ago. I had to have it cause it reminded me of my WW2 navy uncle's knife I have had since I was a kid.
That's really cool Stephen! It's awesome when we get to find something special like that. I know it's one of the things that keeps me out there at the market. There are a few things That I would love to replace that My Dad and Grandad had.
@@Uwannawatch I hope you find those items your father and grandfather had.
I for one can’t wait for the restoration of the perfect handle screwdriver. I found one for the first time a couple weeks ago. It’s still in my pile of things to restore. I wasn’t happy with how the existing videos on restoring perfect handle screwdrivers turned out and am excited to see how you do, looking for inspiration.
Congratulations but I'm gonna warn you those perfect handles can be addicting...It's starts with one and then you got 50ish..LOL! I got 3 videos I think..They are a lot of fun to do. The trickiest part is getting the angels for the scales no problem for you I'm sure with your various skills. When you get around to yours let us know how it turns up.
Awesome finds brother! Love it all! The Zebras are made in Thailand and for $5 bucks you scored! Those run anywhere from $30-$50 depending on where you buy it!
Thanks Pete! I knew one of you would know. I appreciate it brother!
You should absolutely do a video on that old knife Super George. I had one of those when i was kid. You got a lot of cool finds today brother. That axe is awesome! I want you to make a video everyday until everyday is all restored starting with that copper pan😂 nice little haul brother
Thanks Captain Ivan! I would love to do this everyday! I think every guy our age had one of those knives..I wish I knew then what I know now! I'll get to all of them. Big Mac wants the skillets done so....guess which one is first.🤣🤣
Happy wife Happy life.
The knife deserves being restored and the boyscout axe is the find of the day!! What kind of maniac would paint a a frying pan so yeah I would like to see both pans restored. Great picks George
Thank You Michael! I have no idea why they are painted..I've seen people paint cast pans to make them looked seasoned but these are copper and stainless..the pans will probably be first.
George, I love watching your show and thanks for sharing your goodies.
Hey Thank you! I really appreciate that! I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Hey George, I agree with on the hatchet, then it's the pocket knife, be nice to see that getting sorted out👍🏻. The little camping set was good, I have a similar one in my Suzuki micro van, just the right size.
Thanks Alex! I'll get them cleaned up soon I hope...love that van! I think we are gonna have to upgrade to a little van like that soon.
Great finds at your flea market mate. My favourite is the pocket knife, (YES! Clean that sucker up) and the mess kit.
Are you kidding about the frying pans? Of course we’ll watch you clean them up.
That Boy Scout hatchet is cool too. I do like that; oh who am I kidding, I like everything you bought.😂
Take care buddy, give your family a hug from us. Can’t wait to see what you are going to clean up or restore first.
Thanks My Brother from down under! I think it'll be the frying pans. I keep finding them on my work bench which is weird because I keep putting them in my overflow shop... I think Chrissy is trying to tell me something 🤣🤣
Love you guys and tell the family Hi from us. Big hugs and a peck on the cheek for the Missus. Take care and we'll talk soon.
I think if they keep reappearing on your bench, clean them up pronto. Gotta keep the missus happy.
@@shedmanx3640 I think you're right.
You were deffo in a culinary mood 🤣🤣, love the pans and that knife is awesome, love to see ya clean it up , another screwdriver for restoration , love to see that too. The hatchet is a beauty , nice haul 🍻🇬🇧
Tony!!!! Thanks Brother. I was hungry for sure. I'll get them all done up soon. Do you guys have something like the Scouts there?
We invented the Scouts 🤣🤣Lord Baden Powell, I was one ☺️☺️, many years ago
@@tony1721 Oh so we are copy cats again.😂. I didn't know that for real. I learn something new everyday. I hope you hit some car boots so you can me a video. I'm off to work Now. Catch up with ya Later!
George I love watching your channel on a Sunday. You have some great finds, keep em coming. Love from Northern Ireland ❤
Thank You! It's great to hear from you! I'm glad you are enjoying it..It's amazing how much we all like looking at old second hand treasure. Take care.
Absolutely. Will always watch Ywannawatch!
Thank You !!! I appreciate you guys so much!
Ive also started to collect old cast cookware. For the prepper in me. I am also gonna look this sunmer for some old clothes wash boards. They will make nice wall hangers for the laundry room and lord forbid i ever need to use them, i will have them! Love your videos, they help keep me inspired when i have soent all my "hunting" money for the week 😂
We love cast iron !! Got a fairly decent collection here. Good idea with those wash boards get them now before you can't find them and grab octagon soap it works fantastic for laundry and you can use it too. and lasts a while. I'm glad you enjoy the videos because I honestly have fun doing them and hearing what you all are up to. So I gotta ask what did you find recently. Take care!
george like that frying pan wow that's one pig pan good for stew or steaks mmm steaks. the mess kit is cool great hatchet someone took care of that. i remember those knives man that takes me back it's your channel i'll watch whatever you choose. take care see you nextime brother P.S. looks like we are in for a week of rain
Hey Ronald! Thank you brother I appreciate that. I think I'm gonna restore all of them. ps Lucky you guys..we need some rain dry all week.I'm gonna have to water my grass. Take it easy and we'll catch up later.
The Bridgeport is in great shape! It should clean up nicely. I really like that 12 inch steel pan too. That will be great for breakfasts on a fire pit! Very nice finds.
Thanks! I'm definitely eager to get them all cleaned up. The wife is pretty excited for the pans.
Definitely the hatchet & would like to see you restore the Camp Multi-Tool & the smaller copper skillet/pan.
I'll be doing them as soon as I can..Pan first though the wife is really wanting them done.
The funny part is I was already casting my ballet for the Stanley knife.....just cause.....maybe it was a vote for the underdog but then
you sprung that BSA hatchet on us! Great job there!
Thank You! I'm glad you liked it and the little Stanley could've been a contender.
@@Uwannawatch Picked up a USA hatchet today....$2 bucks.
There was also a big box of wrenches.....I was wishing I had your list of who collects what. I was tempted to buy the box but just grabbed some that I knew people collected.
Bonney, Williams...etc.
Found a cool Snap on metal case....empty but I'll try and fill it.
tHanks for all the videos, have a great evening!
Got that same camp knife I love to see it restore the copper my pick of the day
Thank You Larry! I'll do that knife for sure but the wife's favorite is the copper too so we gotta work on those first.
Well the Snap ons are determined to find you.....we can see that.
Everywhere I go...it's almost embarrassing really..
George that BSA hatchet is awesome! I used to have one when I was a scout, don't know what ever happened to it but wish I had it back. Also the camp knife is very cool - I had a similar one I used to take to take on outings to the lake. One warning though - don't try to use the corkscrew. It will probably just break like mine did and you will have no way to open your wine unless you have a real corkscrew with you. 😁 I would love to see all three restorations!
Very Cool Mr. Bill! Thanks for the tip about the cork screw! I'm not a fancy lad i drink wine form a box..I just put a straw in it🤣.
On the PH screwdriver with the loose handle leafs... I suggest soaking it in a 50/50 mix of water and glycerine for a couple days. After the water dries out, the glycerine stays in and expands the wood back to a fuller size. And no, you don't feel the glycerine on the outside of the handle or anything. Has worked for me on a couple of these screwdrivers.
Thanks I'll give that a try. Who knew.
I would love to see you redo that knife with a spoon and a fork!
Thanks I'll be doing it as soon as I can get to it.
Yes , yes and yes!!! 👍👍👍😎
Thank You!
The Keen Kutter looks like the cover of a lever padlock.
Thanks I appreciate it.
I came across your video by chance (I’m in the UK).
The stainless steel, two tier container with lid, clips and handle (at about the 2 minute mark) is a tiffin container, used for carrying a lunch in India, Pakistan and other Asian countries mainly. You might have, for example, rice and vegetables in the bottom one and a curry in the top. You could have three or four tier containers.
In India, enterprising ‘dabbawalas’ deliver prepared lunches to large numbers of people at work or children in school.
There’s much more information on the internet, but the mind boggles at the distribution of huge numbers of these meals at lunchtime - India has a very large population.
Hope this is useful. (You don’t cook in them, but they can be kept in an oven to keep contents warm.)
Forgot to say, ‘tiffin’ means snack or lunch.
👍🇬🇧👍🇺🇸👍
Thank you! I appreciate the information. I'll have to look more into them.
@@Uwannawatch 👍
Yes, please restore the pocket knife!
Thank You I will restore it as soon as possible.
I think you did good. I really like the big frying pan! I recently bought a No. 12 scraper plane from MJ of JustPlaneFun.
Nice!!!! That's so cool.!!! Ya the big frying pan was a surprise find I didn't know I needed .
The BSA hatchet cool old hand ax
Thank You! I am very happy to have found it.
Nice finds George I had a boy scout knife like that growing up it was my uncle Donnie's knife he was born in 34 so I'm assuming it was made in the mid 40s it was in mint condition in the mid 90's when I had it just like you I don't know what happened to it uhg but they bring good money well worth a restore thanks for sharing brother
Hey Don! That's a shame about you Uncles Knife. I could fill a whole shop with tools and such that I have no idea what happened to them. Take care.
@Uwannawatch me too George lol I've gotten better at keep track of things lol
The very 1st video I ever watched from scoutcrafter That's exactly what he had restored And he had to make the handles for it Butt He even have the literature from the Bridgeport company So it's super cool that you got 1
Ya that's cool. i'm hoping I can find that too but these things are getting harder and harder to find in the wild.
Yes clean up the knife. I also don't think that the thing you thought was a divider is a divider. I may be wrong, but I think it's a saw. The saw gets overlooked a lot as a divider. On the bottom of the big blade should tell you who made the knife. I'd like to know who made it because for 2 dollars that's a great find.
Thanks for letting me know. I'll be cleaning it up and I'll let you know what I find. Thanks again I appreciate it.
Got one of those hatchets inherited it had to make new scales for the handle and clean and sharpen nice little piece to make kindling with.
That's cool! I'm lucky that i don't have to make the scales. I think it'll be a good little hatchet but I 'm not sure how much use it'll get. I already got a favorite kindling splitter.
@@Uwannawatch Made them about 2 years ago for it was not that difficult . Started making complete handles recently after i started throwing axes.. the boy scout hatchet is now too nice for tossing.
I am in the process of restoring a Falls City Kelly Works axe ($7 for the rust axe head with a mushroomed back; been grinding it out with belts and discs to restore its shape). Would love to see how you restore the hatchet.
That's a lot of work! Keep us updated on how it's going . I'll be restoring the hatchet. But I'm not too much of an axe guy. I just pick them up here and there.
That hatchet is awesome George pretty sure thats from the 40s it says Bridgeport on it makes me wonder it it was made by hy bar company out of Bridgeport Connecticut very interesting brother
Thanks Don, I am super happy to have this hatchet. I saw one with the rubber handle today at the market.
grips Oh you know what I mean..LOL
@Uwannawatch grips handles same difference lol awesome hatchet it will clean up brighter than a new penny when you are done with it that'd if you decide to take it that far
That would be great if the camping knife was yours from a kid!
That would be cool...who knows. Anything can happen in Jersey...😁
Miss your rusty box..LOL!
@Uwannawatch my rusty box misses you guys too!
I had a knife like that for cub scouts weblos and boy scouts... But alas that was last century 😂😂
That's cool!!!! Man we're getting old. 🤣🤣.
@@Uwannawatch my mind says I am 20, my body says I died about 1990. But I refuse to grow up.
I forgot my favorite lol id have to say its a close one between the hatchet and the knife but the hatchet wins
Thanks Don! It was a lot to take in this week.
The stacked tins is called a tiffin box used in India and the far east as a lunch box.
Cool, Thanks for the information.
Oh please clean up that pocket knife! The only thing you need is a Boy Scout backpack!❤
Hey Stephen, the pocket knife is on my to do list. I would love to find one of those backpacks!
Zebra is from Thailand, they make knives as well...
Thanks I appreciate the information!
I like the pocket knife... But that hatchet.. bad ass.. I agree @westhighlandsshop.. restore it all .. lol ill definitely watch.. be safe dude...
CC!!!!!! Thank you Brother! I truly do appreciate it! Nice job on the part 4 of your garden..I couldn't leave a comment on your video. I don't know why....
@@Uwannawatch all the comments are on that's weird... I still got to level it off but I think we're going to have a winner. Thanks man
