      I agree! I’ve got 2 Excaliburs. I have the hand digger which is an awesome hand digger. Had it about 3 years and that’s all I’ve used since. Then I got the smaller 18” shovel for some some yards, parks & curb strips. I don’t want to carry around a large shovel. Just the optics of having a large shovel gets people attention.
      Yesterday was my 40th birthday 🥺so I got the new Predator 21 phantom shovel as a gift. I’ve heard great things about the head shape. Suppose to make near perfect plugs. Should arrive this weekend. Can’t wait to try it!

    I been using the Nokta Macro digger for a few yrs now. Stated off with cheap metal ones and 99cent plastic ones went through a lot of them now I just use the plastic one in playgrounds. The Predator ones look very very rugged.. Probing for coins I have not got into trying because it looks, like it take a little more time to get the target.

    • @freedomdiggersmetaldetecti8964
      @freedomdiggersmetaldetecti8964  Před 2 lety +2

      Predator makes absolutely indestructible tools. I have a predator shovel that is featured in a few of my videos and I definitely give it a beating when I go out.
      Probing for coins is a lost art. I tried doing it for a while but like you indicate, it definitely eats into your hunting time. I do occasionally use my probe if I put my pinpointer on the surface and it sounds off really good. It's easy to locate a coin that is just below the grass.

    Another informative video! Surprised you don't have a Wilcox style hand digger as they seem quite popular in the US? In the UK, the Evolution Extreme is the British equivalent of the Lesche...I use one, although I have the plain blade rather than the saw toothed version which is the standard...I am not convinced the saw teeth do much good as you rarely have enough space in a hole to get a good sawing motion going... For thickish tree roots, I bought one of those pocket/hand chainsaws, (the ones that are one up from a wire survival saw) and as long as you can feed it around the root, it cuts them in short order...

    • @freedomdiggersmetaldetecti8964
      @freedomdiggersmetaldetecti8964  Před 2 lety +1

      I have never heard of a Wilcox. The Sawtooth edges are actually designed for cutting through turf. This design is very popular here in the US because a lot of us metal detect in parks and playgrounds that are grass. I really like your idea on the pocket saw I may have to look into getting one. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate you watching. If you haven't already it would be nice if you would subscribe as well.

      @@freedomdiggersmetaldetecti8964 Re the pocket chain saws, the quality (and cutting ability) varies quite a bit between brands...The cheaper ones tend to have fewer cutting teeth per foot of chain...I seem to recall the best ones are Swedish, but quite expensive...If you search around CZcams I am sure you will find reviews/comparisons between the various brands available....

    Thanks for the video. I have been looking for a White’s digger. Now I don’t think I want one! I do have two Lesche diggers, but unfortunately, they are both left-handed and I am right-handed. So, my question is, did you buy that Lesche with both sides serrated, or did you cut the other side? Planning on having my brother cut the other side on one of them for me, so I have one like you have in your video.

    Good Video. You said you were going to do a video on find bags. I have been looking for a good rig that would be a find bag and a tool bag at the same time. One think I never see is a good quality belt. I spent many years as a police officer and I know the need for a good belt to carry the load. I just don't understand why all the find bags have a wimpy cloth belt. Would you please adress your thoughts on that in your next video.

      I'm partial to the White's. I dig my initial hole with my Predator shovel so my hand Digger isn't what I make my plug with it's more a tool for locating the Target in the hole or inside the plug. I like the whites because it has a longer blade on it which allows me to reach further into the hole. Unfortunately, they went out of business and these are very hard to find.
