He wrote it alone and produced it with the in house producers. It's still super awesome.
I’ve heard 2 theories. One is that Suga is killing that part of himself who became too big and wants to have a more down to earth self. The other is that the king represents the big Korean music companies that rejected BTS and poor Suga is taking them down. But there are videos that explain the Korean culture behind this video. There’s also a video showing how this was made and one showing Suga learning the sword dance. (The sword was real and really heavy. I think it was made for him.)

also him with black hair is well, yoongi. and the "king" or him with long hair is his greedy side, his alter ego in a way (although both versions in the video are agust d one is the greedy side and the other is the down to earth side. (from what i understood))

The film set was built in the early 2000s as a replica of a Royal Palace in Seoul South Korea.
You guys missed the cameos by Jin and Jungkook. They were the ones who started a fight in the alley at the beginning. There's a great behind the scenes video on the BangtanTV YoTube channel that talks about the meaning of the video and other fun stuff. It's totally worth the watch.

In short, the new Agust D (black hair) kills the old Agust D (the blond King), because after he released his first mixtape (AgustD) and became big he felt like he lost his innerself. He became like a "crazy" King with all his power, that's why he created a new Agust D that want to go back to his true-self bc he want to stay down to earth and always be a humble person.

Let’s be real this was video of the year so far... and nothing about this is kpop lol this is rap w a bit hip hop vibes naybe.... but this is one of the best raps and delivery with performance that I’ve seen in the US in years.... he’s hitting everything and firing back at the haters that mocked him for being in Bts... and he came out firing shots letting them know that suga from bts... is NOT the same as agust d... he earned a hell of respect with this... and finally got to respond to the ignorant hate he’s been getting for years for being in bts.... from people he knew before bts kinda thing ...but having these three incredible rappers in this group with the four amazing singers is what made them diffferent in a way that resonates with anybody.... so who is laughing now dude lol like suga out there dancing it up with bts... but agust d is still there ready to let it out... and he’s a lyricist like Eminem. In case you don’t know this is different form of Kpop that is known as K-Hiphop/Rap which is his main speciality that is really only genre where he can fully express himself while staying humble as Suga of BTS. The meaning behind “Agust D” ~ It’s “Suga” spelled backwards and in reverse “D T” is short for Daegu Town which is his hometown and name of an old underground rap group that he was a part of as rapper “Gloss”.
OMG MY BOY HAS COME and GONE LIKE A PRO AFTER PLACING ANTIs, HATERS and CRITICS in their place on top slaying his ARMY 👀🙀 with his hardcore swag, rapid rapping, beast mode beats & traditional tempo and visuals (PAST AGUST D vs PRESENT AGUST D) dont even get me started with the fashion. I was holding my breathe the whole time seeing him getting up from the throne walking into the palace ready to put someone in their place, bodies on the ground, 😹 Jin & Jungkook pretending to fight behind Suga, BTS members hiding in plain sight and brings a modern car into traditional korean dynasty while battling his innerself then goes into nasty slow flow rap like RM did in DDAENG. It came to the end I was literally on the edge of my seat when he was being taken what looked like he was going to get beheaded while AGUSTD is showing off his sword skills then Suga takes the gun shooting the dark side of himself like a boss 😎 I noticed he used some beats with allot of phrases that he did in their BTS comeback trailer interlude: SHADOW. When I saw the scar, I remembered how much he loves scarface and reminds me abit of scar from lion king with mortal kombat vibes. The BLACK FIGURES behind SUGA presents the fandom: ARMY, he’s basically saying goodbye to his past because he’s ready to move on to a new chapter of his life. *Daechwita is a korean form of marching music that old armies used as they marched into battle or kingly procession; his old & current self fighting for domination over his present life. During his first mixtape he makes many references on how SUGA (stage name) kills Min Yoongi which is his true identity. Now, Agust D the raw savage side kills off the king and SUGA sits down from royalty; if i’m not mistaken, last emperor of the country. The concept/theme is a traditional dynasty where the long hair is indication of wealth and Agust D shown dressed in authentic kingly garments, It was also strongly frowned upon or forbidden for anyone with scars could never be royalty but with this track & music video breaks that stereotype by having Agust D shown with a large visible vertical scar on his eye which expresses even people with scars can be royal on top of showing how powerful his presence is which reminds me of kdrama Scarlet Heart: Ryeo 4th prince where he had a scar but became king despite of it but I also remember how much Suga loves Scarface. IN SIMPLE TERMS HE IS BASICALLY FIGHTING TO TRY STAYING HUMBLE AS A TRUE GROWING ARTIST / RAPPER by confronting his past self. Almost everyone had that reaction and for anyone who doesn’t know or recoginze him, he’s Suga of BTS a globally famous male kpop group, this is his solo alter-ego which is a self-produced solo artist/rapper, if you haven’t seen his first one; Its 2016 ‘AGUSTD’ mixtape. *THE PHRASES “I born a tiger I ain’t no weak pill popper like you”, he was born to be true to his craft not stray from it 😝 ... “We so fly we so fly private jet we so fly”, he’s talking about his groupmates BTS on how swagged they are then you see him bump into Jin (In a beard? Lol) who turns for a second and jungkook accidentally walks into the fishing pole that Jin is holding & they pretend to fight ... “off with their heads”, he doesn’t mean literally cutting their heads off but more or less he’s cutting their heads off with his words. suga is crazy talented, yall should listen to D-2, it's his second mixtape and he released it last year (daechwita is on it). and btw bts started as a hip hop group, suga and rm were underground rappers before becoming members of the group (jhope became a rapper when he became a member, he used to be a dancer), you'll find that they have a lot of rap songs (both as a group and as solo artists).

I would argue that this is no longer kpop, even if Yoongi is still an idol. Though I think you can somewhat distinguish Agust D from this "idol" image and effectively treat it as k-hip hop. or, you know, just hip hop. Not everything that's Korean is k-pop.
