    I'm going to get me one of these, at least the Block for now and build it. At first I was considering the LSA block as my base, it can old a very respectable amount of power but for only about $600-$800 or so more I could get this cast iron behemoth of a block.

    Any old street racer over 40 knows damm well you can find an old BB and just go 30 over and build a 600hp motor that's bullet proof for 1!3 what this is. Actually 800hp is easily attainable it's that massive amount of BB torque that tears your stuff up. My brother had a 68 L88 vette that had some work done to it and after 10 years of flogging it twisted that car up so bad the doors wouldn't close anymore lol

    • @StevenWillmy
      @StevenWillmy Před 8 lety

      +Cyril Willard Cable
      Nope. You can take other LS blocks and put bigger sleeves in them and run a bigger bore and stroke. Companies like ERL sell sleeved blocks, or will sleeve yours. The LSX block comes with the best and biggest sleeves you can run, among other things. Basically, it's a pre-upgraded "small" block.
      Eventually, you run out of room on the LSX, as the bore centers are only 4.4 inches apart. You have to go with a physically larger block. These days, Chevy style big blocks are made with up to 5.3 inch bore spacing, and buildable to over 1,000 cubic inches, or 16.4 liters.

      No, a “Big Block” is a physically different component altogether. Like the original 454 that was mentioned. Or the more recent 496/Vortech 8.1liter truck and industrial engine.
      This is a standard LS-Series size engine made to displace 454 cubic inches.

      @jessekulbe1855 Před 5 lety +2

      Probably depends on the injection system, they likely used an ls7 style EFI. Am aftermarket carb will likely make more power compared with a bone stock efi due to increased flow and the cooling effects of atomized fuel but at the cost of fuel efficiency and throttle response

If the engine is shit, or had faulty components, you ca bet it will fail within that warranty mileage / time frame. Let's see someone else give you that kind of warranty IN WRITING with a small block with this much power & performance for far less money. NOT HAPPENING.
