How often do you need to replace that plantain trunk? Is it the only food supply for the fish? What happens when plantain trunks are not freely available? It seems like the water flow rate is quite wasteful. Also, using even a simple trickle-through system (Bakki river or tower style) would improve oxygen exchange, aeration of water and biological filtration. The drained off water could be used to fertilize a garden.
The plantain trunk is not their major food. In fact, it's basic work is to keep the water as fresh as natural environment of the fish. Yes the water flow looks wasteful but that's actually the reason the catfish in that pond are still alive. Since it's coming from a borehole the fishpond owner doesn't entirely see it as wasteful but he has a small garden behind the fence where the water flows to. So even if you use plantain trunk you still have to give them fish feed to be healthy.
Wow! This is great . I just got to know about plantain trunks in fish farming.
Sure. Plays vital role in keeping the water environment favourable for catfish farming
This is amazing. Weldon sir
Thanks for watching
