      If those superchargers are not heavily being used yet who cares how many people are in your city.
      If those superchargers are getting overused then tesla has specially said they will be focusing on them instead of adding new locations.

    • @onur6233

      Superchargers don't make sense in city centers. You're supposed to charge at night while sleeping, where slow chargers make more sense, and use a supercharger 300-400km away from the city, possibly in the middle of nowhere, on the way to your destination. Having one just outside the city on the highway may make sense though. Not for you, but for people living 300-400km away from your city.

    • @ecospider5
      @ecospider5 Před měsícem

      That is true if you have nighttime charging available. If you do not then charging once a week while shopping or eating is what people will do.

      @@onur6233 Yeah, that makes Zero sense. Superchargers are most prevalent around large population centers. Because that’s where the people ARE.

    Our BMW i3 lease of 3 years is coming to an end. Our 2021 was promised a range of 153 miles at 100%. I’ve charged in the garage all 3 years and can tell you depending on time of year my range was as high as 210 or so in the summer. In winter, cold as hell, around 160. Why such a higher range than promised? Well..they have an 8 year\100K warranty so they obviously have a huge buffer to make sure you hit that guarantee. Our MY should be here in a couple weeks☺️

I was talking to someone who has one of the Hybrid Jeeps and he was saying almost 99 percent of all of his driving is just EV. Just a thought. It would ne impossible to increase the energy storage of the batteries after the car was built so we can only assume the software in the car reduced the amount of energy that the batteries were programmed to be made available. .So why is this being offered now to past customers and will the new cars produced in the future be programmed to receive this extra range without an increase in the purchase price
    And the other question is whether this extra charge will be detrimental to the battery in respect to charging time and deterioration over the long term because otherwise why was this extra driving range not available before. Or is this just a software upgrade which will alter the average persons driving habits to improve efficiency

    Everyone knows, there is a reserved capacity hidden to prevent completely depleting battery. Seems like, they have data now, lets them trade it for some dough instead, without compromising battery cycle life 🤞. Or, it could be they expected some cells to fail in their first gen 4680, and seems like it did not happen. So, this additional upgrade revenue will go the people that worked on these batteries as a bonus🤔 for work done well(Just that it will come out of owners wallet instead😂). Not sure, how it impacts battery warranty in future🤞. It would have been nice to give this out free, and make a marketing splash, to improve sales instead. Otherwise, will leave a sour taste with existing owners, already pissed off with the declining asset value due to the wave of price cuts. Greed has no limits, even, if you have billions. Just some 💭

    A heat wave that broke dozens of temperature records across the American Southwest is shifting to more of the country this weekend, with heat peaking in the Northeast early next week. Some East Coast cities, including Baltimore and Washington, D.C., will experience temperatures reaching OVER 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. That will not necessarily break records everywhere, as Las Vegas and many other Western cities did last week. But it can still be dangerous. “What we want people to be prepared for is the hot daytime temperatures, and the temperatures that don’t really cool off that much at night,” said Richard Bann, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service. That can be especially stressful for people who don’t have a good way to keep cool or aren’t staying hydrated, he said. The Midwest will heat up. Temperatures are expected to hover around the middle 90s in Minneapolis over the weekend, and St. Louis is expected to hit 99 degrees on Sunday. Chicago is forecast to reach a high of 96 on Monday, while Milwaukee, where the Republican National Convention will be held next week, will be around 90 or over before possibly cooling slightly on Tuesday.

    Most likely Tesla realised over the years that their batteries are so incredibly great that they can push the boundaries even further. That's probably why the range can be increased after all. If they pushed the boundaries straight from the start there would have been a potential risk.
    Tesla's battery pack is simply even greater then they dared to believe at the time.

    czcams.com/video/8Zn_lVkYDlQ/video.html -> Tesla tells why 4680 Model Y has ONLY 279 mile range (2 years ago)
    Of course, Tesla built in extra capacity but did not unlock it because they did not know how well the cells would cope with full range usage. And the price at the time reflected that. So Tesla is in no obligation to give away the extra range for free.
