I wish they would do the 90s as well but from what I understand, this project cost too much money and wasn’t very profitable so they had to abandon it unfortunately.

Talk to people in UK about the VG crash in 83, we have no idea about it. Over here it was the heyday of the micro computer scene, BBC, Spectrum etc.

The flashing lights on Dragon's Lair are part of the video and don't change depending on setting. A lot of footage is reused from the prototype version, which was supposed to give you different exits that would branch out to alternative scenarios. When they switched to a more linear approach the flash-guide came in, which is the easiest way to tell new footage apart from old ones.

In Japan, two game consoles were released on July 15, 1983: the Nintendo Famicom and the Sega SG-1000; the latter was notable for being architecturally similar to the ColecoVision (same Z-80A CPU, TMS9928A VDP and SN76489 PSG).

Donkey Kong 3 was also the first Nintendo arcade game to use the 6502 (2A03) CPU that also graced the company's new home console, the Famicom; in the case of both this and 1984's Punch-Out!! it was relegated to being a secondary CPU alongside the Z80A as well as being a sound chip.

    Great retrospective.
Actually Krull’s not all that bad; kind of a strange mash up of sci-fi and fantasy, basically about a group of men on a quest to save a damsel in distress, so pretty old school thematically, along with an aged mentor, some adventure, some tragedy. Really kind of a fun adventure movie for what it is. One of Liam Neeson’s first movie roles. And that James Horner score is amazing.
Obviously an attempt to build off of Star Wars and not a total failure as a movie imho.

I wouldn't say Japan continues to dominate video games. I mean, they do consoles, but in terms of games, I think the US and Europe do better these days. And the XBox brand isn't something to sneeze at. I'd call that successful. However, from 1983 to 2004 or so, Japan sure dominated everything except maybe PC gaming where the US put out quite a lot of successful, good content. I think US game makers have dominated since then.

Too many crap games did not cause the video game crash. ET and Pac-Man did not cause the video crash. At that point in time the Atari 2600 and intellevision we're getting a little long in the tooth. Out comes the The Atari 5200 and the ColecoVision. Now suddenly the arcade games look like the arcade games and the graphics were much better. Every kid wanted either a 5200 mostly and then the other wanted the ColecoVision. Some kids got it. Some kids were just born at the right time and were able to get them. But most people like myself and all my other friends our parents simply said NO. Most people have only had their Atari 2600 for maybe 2 years have built up a massive library and parents back then did not just keep buying upgrades especially when the 5200 was originally released it wasn't backwards compatible. So parents weren't going to spend $400 on a new machine and then rebuy all those cartridges. Same thing with the ColecoVision. And what was worse about the ColecoVision was It had no friend ecosystem in other words your cartridges you couldn't share with anyone cuz nobody had one everybody had the 2600. So by the time the Atari 5200 and the ColecoVision wised up about parents not spending more money because of all the money they spent on the past cartridges That's when they both decided to make adapters to play 2600 games. But at that point it was too late parents simply said NO. So it wasn't Pac-Man It wasn't ET It wasn't chuckwagon It wasn't Kool-Aid Man every kid wanted a new system with the new upgraded graphics but parents said. NO.
