Best line on the bus with Barbara Pepper - ".. pardon me, madam! This seat is taken...!" "Sure is, Honey!" Haha! Also have to love the Don Loper episode where Lucy is hobbling along in the tweed suit in the fashion show! She played it so well you could actually feel her pain!

Ethel’s reaction when she meets Don Loper is priceless.
When Lucy is hanging on for dear life outside the window and Ethel is trying to distract Ricky. The audience is laughing so hard parts of her speech are inaudible. 😂

    Rick,
What a warm-hearted gentleman you are, and how thoughtful of you to prepare such a touching tribute to one of your loyal subscribers.
As I mentioned in an ILL video a few years back, I consider ALL of the Hollywood "preparatory episodes" as part of the Hollywood canon.
Therefore, my favorite scene (in the entire series) is Ethel Mae Potter's Albuquerque "solo" performance. Every time I watch her version of "My Hero" from "The Chocolate Soldier," I can not help but be reduced to uncontrollable hysterics. Never fails! Fred's expression alone is priceless!
But, for the IN Hollywood episodes, "L.A. at Last" is the clear top-contender, so it's certainly worth your 3 mentions.
    R.I.P. Christopher Allan Kraft
    Be hopeful,
    Paul +

The bric-a-brac destruction from Lucy Is Ricky's Agent absolutely superb!
The Harpo Marx is another great one!
The William Holden and Lucy's nose, the cutting of the spaghetti with scissors is out of this world!
The three best in Hollywood along with many others not in L.A.
The Great Train Robbery with Ethel and Fred in rain coats ingenious!
They should have made Lucy Visits Rick Nineg but I heard they never finished the script

I'm glad you added the travel episodes .In no particular order my top ten are
In First Stop when they stay in that old cabin and we get too see the bed routine as Ethel puts Fred to bed!
L.A. At Last -Lucy's nose catches fire!
Lucy Gets Into Pictures -Lucy's train trip when she slips in her big movie scene !
Bullfight Dance -the whole scene with Lucy dressed up as the bull as she gets even with Ricky especially when he turns his back and she kicks him!
Star Upstairs - A hidden Lucy sings while bellboy Bobby drinks water and Cornel Wilde thinks it's Bobby singing ! That whole scene is hilarious.
Ricky Sells The Car -The motorcycle scene
Ricky Sells the car -Lucy hides from the Mertz's when Ethel thinks Lucy has intentions about Fred!Rickys reaction " Oh no!"
Harpo Marx episode the famous routine with Harpo and Lucy.
Ricky Needs and Agent. After Ricky leaves and Lucy is cleaning up she's reaching under the couch and the Mertz's walk in and Ethel screams " he killed her and tried to hide her body under the couch !"
Dancing Star Van Johnson asks Lucy to fill in for his dance partner and Lucy saunters out the door after Ricky has mocked her .The look on his face is priceless and I loved how she left the room like a big diva !

The Bill Holden episode was my mom's favorite; no matter how many times she watched it, she'd laugh hysterically at Lucy with that phony nose! (I had heard that her nose catching fire was an accident, but it had to have been a planned part of the scene, because no way could they have all stayed so calm if Lucy was in danger of being seriously burned.)

When Ethel offers Rock Hudson some candy: "Would you like a piece of rock, Mr. Candy?"
Ethel's face when the woman sits on Lucy. In the Brown Derby, notice Ethel moves close to the edge of the seat before she falls off. Eve Arden was also in that scene.
    Lucy: "Ethel! HOLLYWOOD's out there!"
    Great tribute, Rick.

A great presentation as usual Rick, full of great information. If there was a spot for an 11th moment, I'd pick "The Homecoming" from Season 5, Episode 6. After returning from Hollywood, Lucy becomes a bit jealous of all the attention Ricky is getting from becoming a movie star. This changes during a magazine interview, when the reporter convinces Lucy that Ricky should be treated like a god. She complies, much to Ricky's discomfort, because all he wants to do is lead a normal life. His solution is to "adopt" the lifestyle of a Hollywood star, complete with massive ego and treating Lucy like a doormat. Lucy endures it for a short time, but finally explodes when she can't take it anymore. During the confrontation, Ricky explains that he's always been happy with his relationship with Lucy. When Lucy protests, saying "But Nancy Graham said I should fulfill your every wish!" Ricky responds with "Honey, you've been doing that for me for the last 15 years!" Lucy then bursts into tears, they embrace, and the audience responds with a rousing applause. A real feel good moment from the show.

I don't have 10 favorite moments from The Hollywood Shows,I just like them all. My 1 favorite moment though is in Ricky's Agent when Lucy tells Him She got Him fired from MGM and Ricky goes crazy. Rolling every time.

  • @susie6301
    @susie6301 Před 19 dny

I love the Hollywood episodes! My favorite moment in those episodes is in the Great Train Robbery, where Lucy goes in the men's bathroom to get away from the bad guy, comes out, and pulls the lever to stop the train again. Then when Fred and Ethel come out in raincoats covered with food. Hilarious!
My second favorite moment is The Bullfight Dance, when Lucy is dressed as a lady bull, and Ricky as a bullfighter, and the skit is hilarious!
I also like The Fashion Show, where Lucy and Ethel go to the high end ladies' dress shop, and Lucy looks at the price tags of the dresses, and gets caught on one of the tags. I also like, also from The Fashion Show, when Sheila McRae and Don Loper are discussing a fashion show of stars' wives, and Lucy calls Ricky on the phone in front of them, because she wants to be in the show.
In Lucy and John Wayne, the breakfast scene in funny. The last scene is sweet, when John Wayne comes in with several cement things of footprints.
I also like the moment in The Star Upstairs, when Lucy goes up to Cornell Wilde's hotel room, and is hiding under the cart of food that Bobby the bellboy brings to Mr. Wilde's room. Then it's funny when Lucy accidentally gets locked out of Mr. Wilde's balcony, and gets Ethel, who is in Lucy's room below, to get a broom and put a pair of scissors on it so Lucy can make a rope to get off the balcony. Then it's funny when Ricky comes in his and Lucy's apartment, and talks to Ethel, and Ethel tries to distract him from seeing Lucy trying to leave Mr. Wilde's room. She is hanging outside the balcony. Ethel says, "Hi, Rick." Ricky says, "Oh, hi, Ethel. Where's Lucy?" Ethel says, "I don't know." Ricky says, "Oh, she's probably hanging around the hotel somewhere." Ethel talks about a cake recipe. Then Ricky says, "Where are you going?" Ethel: "Oh, I've got to pick up a friend." Ethel laughs nervously.

    Rick
The Hollywood shows are soaked with great one liners and other scenes- I’ve always thought they are by far the best !
Not that you asked , but it’s Tough for me to do a list like you did .
The look on Bill Holdens face after the pie hits him - and - the reaction he gives Lucy as he turns during conversation with Ricky to ask her opinion (no idea what topic) and sees the twisted nose. And then - when he turns back to see her dip the nose in the coffee !! lol !!!
Then yes - Ricky sells the car episode - when Ethel comes in with Lucy the 2nd time this time she’s in Fred’s pockets - gets embarrassed and runs to her hotel room.
Hey Rick I was hoping at the start that you’d have had “First Stop” at the first horrendous greasy spoon _ with the Hilarious back and forth at bedtime when they decide to crash there about the menu - and the great train speeds by 100 mph (not really but seemed) keeping all but Fred aaake. And the train pushed Rickie over by Fred’s head ! (“ Is it morning already !?” )
Oh and two shows later - the same owner appears as Ethel’s dad in her hometown ! ( another classic with Fred - Rickie and Lucy carrying plants, tricks and Fred with the tree behind big-head Ethel!! )
Thanks for the fun forum Rick !
