I quite like the later US Top Gear. First couple of seasons are pure rubbish but the newer ones are quite good if you're a car guy.

I like Matt and he may be fantastic, but the old trio had the best dynamic between them, it's what made the show so great. Only time will tell what happens to the show with the new hosts.

Rowan Atkinson alone can (probably) make Top Gear peak again considering that he's a car guy, a comedian and also British. Gotta accept it that the trio will never be back again but Rowan Atkinson really has some potential here.

Take a look at Matt with Emilia Clark from Games of Thrones, on the Graham Norton show, the chemistry is brilliant..
I love Clarkson, Hammond and May. They are awesome. But I'm also genuinely happy for LeBlanc.

Being the fastest ever guest around the track on its own earned him the right to be one of the new presenters on the show. He has legit credibility as a driver.

There's no replacing the original trio, but Matt LeBlanc is really great. I'm excited to see how well he does. I really didn't think Top Gear could recover, but this new direction seems promising.

Fuck Chris Evans. He used his leverage at the BBC to brand himself even more as a car guy. LeBlanc was quite good as a host, but he needed someone who wasn’t a fucking knob to help him.

@@FatimaSorianoOfficial He's said himself that it was smoking and drinking. You can go back and hear him in 2011, where he almost sounds the same as he did on Friends then 1-2 years later he sounded like he does now.
@@Luka1180 "Ah, so that's why. I did read an interview of him from 2014 or so, and the interviwer said in the article that he was smoking during the interview. Plus he did mention once that he had quit before, but apparently, that's not the case now. He did sound more like the Joey we know and love in 'Episodes', though. Thanks for replying! :)

Leblanc and Hammond would make a great duo
Matt LeBlanc is probably a pretty good casting choice for Top Gear but I doubt the new hosts will have the same synergy as the old trio.
+Gagan Singh They probably won't have that synergy right from the beginning, but who knows, maybe after several series, it'll get better.
And let's not forget, the old trio also didn't have that synergy at first. And James wasn't even present for the whole first series.
I thought Matt, Rory Reid and Chris Harris did a bloody good job! And the current three (Harris, Flintoff and McGuinness) are gelling nicely too.

The best thing about Top Gear was the British humour between the three of them who were all hilarious in their own way. No we have the un funny, annoying Chris Evans and and American. But I suppose it's a whole new start and they aren't trying to copy what was done before. We will get the same banter on the boys new show though

Yeah the humour is going to be way more universal for this new Top Gear, which isn't what made Top Gear funny in the first place.
+Sloth It wasn't that funny. It was so scripted it was painful to watch. And there's nothing cool about three middle aged, middle class men acting like three middle aged, middle class women.
My Enemy's Enemy From 2003 - 2008 felt way less scripted amd just felt way more natural. After that the jokes and even the conversations between the three became painfully obvious how scripted it became.
Mr Know Nothing Exactly. I actually used to like the three of them.. kinda. But then the whole show became something else entirely and the their personalities turned bitchy and faux-blokey as they got bigger and more popular.

I like Matt LeBlanc but I don't think this is going to work because the chemistry between the former presenters was amazing and uncanny and it's nearly impossible to have it again !
anyway, I will watch this new version before I decide if it's worth watching or not !
i have no opinion so take my words with a grain of salt.....however. I will say that the same thing (not great chemestry) was said about the originals on their first few episodes....thats how we humans can be some times. start in a shell, and slowly work our way out of that shell. assuming things do improve, you'll really notice the moment he begins to open
addtionally, it seems to me that matt is one of those people with a funny dry sense of humor in that, he's not super *active* but has a more subdued comedic style. who knows tho, maybe it will play out well in the end. maybe not. but we can't shoot things down before we've even seen the first season!

Things will never be the same clearly, but im ok with Matt LeBlanc presenting TG. He clearly knows about cars and i'm confident he'll bring a different vibe to the whole premise of the show... Not gonna pretend that i won't watch the new TG, but i'm looking forward to the trios new show. Amazon did a great thing giving the boys basically an unlimited budget and free reign.
