- 2S38 is "the most balanced" tank in the game... In other words one of the most overpowered vehicles that was recently added to War Thunder.
The 2S38 was implemented in "Fire and Ice" major update as a premium vehicle in soviet tech tree. It's a light/anti-air tank, that can efficiently hunt ground and air targets.
2S38 has every available tool in War Thunder, from drone to dozer. You can scout you can drop arty, you have engine smoke(ESS), or smoke grenades for cover, high quality gunner and commander thermals, 57mm auto-cannon with APFSDS,HEVT, and APHE. Jack of all trades.
When you compare 2S38 to anything for any nation tech trees, it feel very undertiered (sits at 9.7br at the moment). Premium special treatment?

The 2S38 is one of the best money maker for gaijin, it is obviously WAY TO LOW in br (just look the swedish boy as you said, or even it's direct US competitor, the HSTV-L, 2S38 is better than him in every aspect except acceleration but sit at 9.7 instead of 11.0 like the HSTV-L) this tank is the perfect example of P2W... and that's also the reason gaijin still havn't moved the 2S un higher br : MONEY 🙁

Another MASSIVE advantage this thing has over Swedish auto cannon equivalents is replenish speed of ready rack. It’s nearly triple the speed when it comes to recovering first stage ammo.
It’s got IRST so no radar pings for aircrafts, and while every other IRST is around 6km range, this thing reaches past 10km on lock.

It's literally an Anti Aircraft vehicle IRL, so it should lose scouting, airstrike, and be limited to like 10-15 APFSDS, since that's a rule they employ on every other nation's AA with AP rounds like the Otomatic.
I use mostly APHE anyways since you do encounter a lot more light vehicles at the start and they are your major threat
About Otomatic, I think someone somewhere mentioned that 12 rounds is realistic

Fun fact, pretty much all CV9040s had capability on "locking" on air target. and the gun would lead your shots. So yeah, still waiting for that to be added to them.

Not really locking. More like triangulating.
They take two laser measurements a couple seconds apart and then calculate the targets speed and heading then apply the needed lead.
Only works on targets maintaining a steady speed and heading. If the target turns then those two measurements need to be retaken.
So there is no IRST or any kind of optical tracking going on. Just laser measurements.

@@DOLLARplays It is the UTAAS system and there is Russian bias at play. They are debating removing it from the LVKV 9040c because it uses the UTAAS system; I don't know why they dont just give the 9040c the same tracking temporarily until they actually properly implement it. They initially claimed that it wasnt realistic and now they just arent :(

The best part is the CV90's gunners sight is literally called the UTAAS (Universal Tank and ANTI-AIRCRAFT Sight)
(The tracking sight for the LVKV90 is named so in-game, and is the exact same sight)
I am pretty sure they added it to a bunch of tanks just to see how it affects the balance. I am 100% positive it will come to more tanks in the future

Basically any modern IFV with a thermal sight should have IR tracking, and many MBTs as well. If I'm not wrong ground targets should also be able to be tracked. The Strf not having it is criminal

The radar on the LVKV is purely a search radar, the sight is doing all the work
@@danielmartens6369 No it's not. The radar can track and calculate lead for turning targets while the regular sight can only apply lead to targets that are flying straight.
If the target turns then new measurements need to be made with the laser.

Dollar could play the most evil vehicle in the game and I'll never think less of him as he commits unspeakable acts
You can lock on drones with Ifv, Apc, and light tanks but you can't lock a drone with ozelots, or other missile spaa until they're within roughly 3km. And don't even get me started on the strela, where you can't even lock helicopters past 1.5km
So sad that dollar only gets a quarter of the recognition he deserves I really hope this channel keeps growing
I love not just your fantastic editing but also that you show how most games really go with getting pasted immediately. Watching a lot of other creators who I do enjoy make me wonder if I'm just too bad to play this game. Then you post and make such a wonderful show out of an experience that feels more like mine.

I can understand the Puma, its only offensive thing is the 30mm and its APFSDS ain't all that damaging plus its have a slow af RoF, its have good enough protection against chemical rounds, thats it really, it dosen't even have VT rounds, only the AHEAD which needs to be rangefinded every single time you want to engage an air target, even then it does barely anything against planes at all, all its ammo basicly housed in the turret, shot there and its lose all of its offensive capabilities, at least the Strf 9040 have useable APFSDS and VT rounds

The fact that the VT rounds aren't tracers, unlike almost every other VT in the game, makes this vehicle extra balanced (although I do hate planes)

I find that zooming in on the lead indicator radically improves my odds of hitting targets at more than like 3k, makes it a ton easier to cluster your VT rounds at the center of the pip instead of guesstimating. Lets me pop off 2-3 rounds at a target with confidence that they'll hit and either swap to the next target or refocus on ground

1:33 speaking of the 9040s, they actually nerfed them into the ground with the ready rack replenishment speed being increased to 5 seconds for a single round. This change was brought on by trying to normalize autocannon reloads but all it did was screw over any autocannons without a belt.
EDIT:
they undid the change and now all ready rack reload rates are back to what they used to be

This thing seems to be some of the most op tanks I've played against so far while getting uptiers in my Leo 1 L/44. Its reload speed and AP capabilities are doing wonders and make this thing a brawler: even if it didn't take you down in 1-2 shots it can cripple your gun in 1 sec and then kill you.
The thing hasn't even completed it's combat trials and just barely went through actual use and testing to see if the tank itself worked backed in 2022, and they thought "yeah put this thing in the game"

Я бы не сказал, что "Деривация-ПВО" такая имба, машинка неплохая, но со своими минусами, которые не дают стать ей имбой, я думаю, что если бы Гадзины добавили ей еще бы ПТРК "Корнет", как на БМП-2М, а на "Армии 2019" было указано, что оно имеет оную установку, то ее можно было бы кинуть на БР выше, но это сильно не меняют ситуация, что на 9.7, что на 10.7 2С38 играется одинаково.
