While maintaining your bald cypress bonsai, it is possible to take cuttings to continue the next generation. 在修剪你的樹時就可以剪一些作差枝
Cuttings can be taken from the mother tree when the bark is thick enough. 可以用樹皮比較厚的做插枝
Make sure you leave behind some leaves on the cuttings or they cannot grow. 記得要留一些葉子在母樹上不然母樹就無法繼續成長
Bald cypress bonsai cuttings in a training pot should then be placed in root hormone water. Make sure to follow the instructions on the bottle. 剛插枝插好的樹即可種進陪養盆並放入發根劑，記得要看清楚發根劑的說明

The whole thing is completely wrong for bonsai. If you keep cutting them back it will take decades to grow for taper. They need to grow and grow and grow. If you don’t let the leaf lignify the tree will shed that leaf and you have to wait till next season to grow the leaves into a branch. They don’t grow like maples or juniper or anything. They need to grow and when they reach the desired thickness you cut them back. Just sharing as I focus on bald cypress bonsai. The cuttings I root this way tho. But in development of the tapered and fluted trunks they will never ever get that in a super tight bonsai pot and they need to have elongated roots to get flutes. 😊

can bald cypress be grown from hardwood cuttings in winter
For Bald Cypress, it is not a good idea to maintain it during the winter as it grows slower and doesn't have enough energy to regrow. Could you tell me more about how you want to grow it on hardwood? Do you mean, you want to use the grafting technique or do you want to plant it in a hardwood pot?
@@JackLinBonsai Hello thank you for your reply. As It is mid winter here in England and I have just discovered some bald cypress near my home I am able to get plenty of Hardwood cuttings from it in the hope that some might take. I also have collected many seeds from it.
