In today's video, we explore the art of bonsai with a handmade pot and an unusual species - the Elaeagnus Bonsai Tree.
This species, also known as the silverberry tree, has a distinctive feature with shiny silver-colored leaves, creating a sparkling effect in sunlight and wind.
Just two weeks ago, a unique bonsai pot was crafted and it sets the stage for the repotting and pruning of our 10-year-old Elaeagnus Bonsai.
The Elaeagnus, having a leaf color that complements the pot's glaze, undergoes meticulous care.
The video teaches you the optimal position for the bonsai in the pot and the best techniques for repotting bonsai trees.
The final result is a stunning Elaeagnus Bonsai Tree in a handmade ceramic pot, set to be auctioned later this year.

can bald cypress be grown from hardwood cuttings in winter
For Bald Cypress, it is not a good idea to maintain it during the winter as it grows slower and doesn't have enough energy to regrow. Could you tell me more about how you want to grow it on hardwood? Do you mean, you want to use the grafting technique or do you want to plant it in a hardwood pot?
@@JackLinBonsai Hello thank you for your reply. As It is mid winter here in England and I have just discovered some bald cypress near my home I am able to get plenty of Hardwood cuttings from it in the hope that some might take. I also have collected many seeds from it.

Tried searching for this tree online but couldn’t find it
It is not a well known species, not much information about it online but it is commonly used in Taiwan. Lee Cherry or Lee’s Cherry. Thanks for watching 🙏

What we do know, it's between Acerola cherry and Barbados cherry. It is smaller both leaves size and body size. It may not have a proper scientific English name, yet but We simply called it Lee Cherry. 🤓

Hi, we don’t unfortunately. But, you can pick up seeds under a Chinese elm tree. Branch cuttings are more efficient!

The whole thing is completely wrong for bonsai. If you keep cutting them back it will take decades to grow for taper. They need to grow and grow and grow. If you don’t let the leaf lignify the tree will shed that leaf and you have to wait till next season to grow the leaves into a branch. They don’t grow like maples or juniper or anything. They need to grow and when they reach the desired thickness you cut them back. Just sharing as I focus on bald cypress bonsai. The cuttings I root this way tho. But in development of the tapered and fluted trunks they will never ever get that in a super tight bonsai pot and they need to have elongated roots to get flutes. 😊
