I LOVE this doll! This actually WAS and still is my fav Barbie. I got her for my 9th b-day in 1977 (yes I'm old..ha) This is a doll I have been wanting to find for forever but I'm not paying the outrageous prices they are selling her for on ebay. I didn't know they did this retro throwback for this doll. I remember the modern version they did but I didn't want that one. Thanks for sharing!

The Superstar Barbie face mold was inspired by Farrah Fawcett, who was THE female icon of the 1970's. No wonder Superstar Barbie has become an icon herself!

Just purchased this for a good price ,defo the Barbies of Barbie dolls ,i grew up with the 70s -80s girls now 51 years have decided to reunite with the lovely ladies .also buying the originals to have displayed next to these collectible beauty's . Great share always like seeing them un-boxed ..

A comment regarding the dress length: in the 70's, dresses were in three lengths: "mini" (above the knee), "midi" below the knee and "maxi", at the ankle. Superstar Barbie is wearing a "maxi" length, which is totally accurate for the era.

Superstar Barbie and Christie broke the mold in Barbie world. They were so popular their face molds were used the longest. She’s also so iconic and popular that she was so loved that Mattel opted to ONLY make Barbie a blonde going forward. She WAS Barbie. Tan with big stylish flowing blonde hair and big blue eyes. She had forward facing eyes that grabbed attention and an open smile that showed off her pearly whites. Those of us who were fortunate to grow up with this version of Barbie truly got her at the height of her glamour. Back when even budget friendly Barbies and friends had fierce glamorous outfits and accessories to go with them 💁🏽♀️ I’ve slowly begun repurchasing the Barbies and Christie’s I had growing up and honestly just fell in love with this face mold all over again 😍

I have 4 of her and bought her when she came out in 2009 ! I had to get more of her because she's so gorgeous ! I have all the others on the back of the box as well !

I had her as a little girl. I still have her. I also have the superstar corvette. I think I was 9. When I was 10, I went to go to the toy store and I got Hawaiian Barbie instead of superstar Ken. Then, in 2013, I screamed with delight when I found him in a bin at an antique mall! You could see the disco ball spin and hear the BeeGees in your imagination when they met for the first time. I had them posed in the Purple Corvette (make sure you see the correct one--I still have the car and box it came in). Yes, now I am in my 50's and appreciate your video.
I got this Barbie for Christmas in 1977; I was 5. Mine didn't come with the black dress. If I remember, she came with a brush, comb and mirror set. Her boa was only one piece and none of my Barbies had those tags. My shoes closed on the side.
I got the Barbie Townhouse that year too- lol I had the corvette in the picture.
My favorite Barbies were Golden Dream Barbie and Kissing Barbie

Fabulous doll! Thank you for sharing her with us. LOVE the catalog that came with her - I keep them and refer to them. That length on her dress is consistent with the length of Barbie dresses at the time. :>)

I had the original doll. This is quite a nice reproduction, and I would like to get one (quite expensive now on eBay). The original pink dress fit better, and was nicer material, and that was just a basic doll in those days.

I also have this reproduction of this Super Star Barbie. I wasn't alive around Super Star Barbies era but I really do like some of the Barbies in that era. They're so hard to get now.

I know you loooove (just like me) the more high end Barbie clothes and in those days the "Pret a Porter" line was it.
Superstar Barbie is my first. I was five in 1979 and love it. She's worn out few months later.

I had Super Star, Ken, the convertible and the penthouse with elevator. My neighbor made a motorized runway that Barbie's feet fit into and made it look like barbies where walking the runway on a little track that disappeared behind a velvet curtain and even had a disco ball..

It's true, but long billowy dress can get dirty sooner then the shorter length dresses.That great dress could have been longer.

They have a 1959 Barbie doll and 1962 Barbie doll and a 1967 Barbie doll and an 1971 Barbie doll and an 1977 Barbie doll but they don't have an 1978 Barbie one

My mother had 5 genuine 1957 dolls, including 2 women, one ken and two teens. Sadly, mu grandmother lend one of them out to some neighbor, and it was never returned. My sister has a real Barbie superstar from the 1970's, but not in a box. But the outfit was not that pink in the clothing.
