    You are a great teacher! Thank you for posting these lessons free of charge. I'm 64 years young and have been playing guitar since I was 5. My dad taught me mostly and he was self-taught. I learned enough to get by as a rhythm player all these years, but now I would like to be able to play some simple leads. So I decided to start by learning the scales that I never learned in the beginning. I came across your videos and have been practicing along with them for a while now. Lo and behold.... I'm learning a bunch! And I have you to thank! You are appreciated, my friend. THANK YOU!

    I've been practicing this tune daily for two months. I'm still clumsy, but totally on the way with it. I'm a lifelong beginner on my axes, but getting closer to that intermediate mark. I love practicing at mid-life as guitar is a brilliant mental escape for me. Helps to blow those blues away. Thanks Adrian. And I really love the Wire songs. Ex-Lion tamer is a song I've played for years but I play it much better thanks to these excellent lessons. Oh, and the Cure stuff. Love em!

    I've been playing for almost 50 years and have watched a LOT of CZcams video lessons. You're a very good teacher. You don't make it at all about you and it's not ridiculously broken down to every single note. You also make good choices in terms of what you decide to teach. Keep up the good work.

  • @ianson3

    How can anyone give this a thumbs down? He plays well, starts you out with exercises, teaches you note by note, goes through it slowly and at speed...and provides free music and tabs. And I can confirm the tabs are exactly what he plays. He states clearly that this is in the style of Robert Johnson, and is not 100 percent authentic. So, truth in advertising. I learned to play a credible version of this in barely a week. My next project will be Adrian's how-to on Freight Train.

    I have to echo everyone else in praising your teaching. I’ve tried learning from some faultless and accomplished guitarists on TrueFire but most of them take you part of the way and then throw you in at the deep end. You explain every single note, chord and technique. I’m 70 and have played since I was 17 but have improved noticeably since finding your informative videos. Thanks again Adrian.

    For a young chap. I would just like to give you some credit in your ability to teach. I know a million great guitar players but as far as teachers go. Nothing personal against anyone out there in guitar land. It takes a special quality to teach it. I would love to sit down with you for about a year everyday. As a matter of fact I think I will. Via you tube. Great job. Keep up the good work and thank you for taking the time to give the lessons. You are right they are not real easy but if effort is put into practicing you can learn what you are teaching. Thank you. I love this style of playing and I have always wanted to learn. I have a good feeling it won't be to much longer till I at least have a basic grip and that is where it all lol starts.

Lots of other teachers show off their chops doing this sort of thing but don't seem to really get down to the details of how to do it. I can see your lesson easily turning into a real springboard for those of us trying to understand how "that sound" is made. Good deal!

      @vitopolito6219 Před 2 lety +23

      Don't use a metronome unless you are playing with others. Robert Johnson never used a metronome. He had it in his head. Part of the charm of the Blues is how the player can change speed.

      @sisterursuline Před rokem +24

      Classical cellist here, and no you shouldn’t “always” practice with a metronome. They can make playing rushed and mechanical. Blues has a lot of innate groove that the player needs to feel - metronomes are a useful tool at times but not a necessity.

    Hello Adrian,
    Thanks again for the Robert Johnson Blues Style.
    I'm looking forward you make a book with all these beginners-intermidiate people pieces of blues, rock, etc.
    All the best,
