  • Not many people know that Troy-Bilt makes one of the most economical tracked snowblowers on the market. The StormTracker 2890 is a well-built machine that just may be the best snowblower for you!
You can buy this snowblower directly from Troy-Bilt using this link. www.pntrs.com/t/2-520924-5755...
Be aware I do make a small commission from the sale from Troy-Bilt.

Great to have you back. Love your videos. Based on your reviews, I purchased a Toro 1028 OHXE 2 years ago. Best blower I've ever owned. Whether it's 2" of slush or 2 ft of snow, this machine has never let me down.

Just got my 2820 today. Watched this last night and it was super helpful. Probably 30 minutes total!
    Thanks very much.

Paul, love your channel and website, used both extensively to do my "homework" before getting this model factory refurbished. Didn't let me down last winter. Would love to see a side by side with this and the Ariens. Keep up the good work!

Good to see another one of your videos. I bought a Toro 1030HD after watching your channel. It throws snow much better than my old Craftsman did. Keep up the good work and keep the reviews coming.

If I lived in Manitoba, I would get this snow thrower. I live in Northern Kentucky so, I'll stick with my 2013 Cub Cadet 524 SWE two stage snow thrower. TroyBilts have always seemed to be well made. Nice to see you back, Paul.

Looks like an interesting machine… I think you might have mistakenly called it a Toro instead of a Troy-Bilt at the video intro. Look forward to seeing how it handles some snow… Which will surely be here soon enough!

Good to see you making videos again! When is the last time TroyBilt did anything new?

Troy-Bilt has made some changes to this snowblower over the last 3 years and I'll go through them in the next video. I'll also go over why this snowblower has not had many changes.
The last time any real changes have been made in 3 of the 4 major brands was in 2014. Yes, there have been changes like LED headlights, new-stylized dashes and two brands went to metal chutes but nothing that dramatically improves their capacity and throwing distance.

Thank you for your in0depth reviews and information. What is your view on 2 stage vs. 3 stage? I am looking at purchasing a 28” or 30” . What would you recommend? I am undecided between Ariens, Cub Cadet, Toro, Husqvarna and Troy Bill, might as well add Craftsman into the mix.

Your question is much to general to answer in the comments here. Take a look at my other videos. I cover almost all your questions. When you get it narrowed down to one or two brands then ask again. Please include where you live - so I know how much snow you get and what types, the size of your driveway and anything special about your yard so I can help you find the best for you.

What’s your thoughts on the age old question, tracks or wheels which do you prefer ?

Awesome to have you back, Paul!
I was looking at this model (older version) back in 2017-18 when I was looking to replace my 1988 Craftsman-II Trac-Drive.
I eventually went with the Troy-Bilt 3090 wheeled version with the 357cc engine and have been extremely happy with it.
Either way, I'm glad I bought when I did. My 3090 was on sale for $1,029. And the 2890 Tracker was $1,299 then.

Is there anything we can do to these small engines to make them safely run E15 or ideally E85? Obviously Warranty would be out.

At this point in time the only solution is EFI. But electronic fuel injection raises the cost of the snowblower and the market in general is just not ready for that additional cost.

I just bought this snow blower. Checked the oil, filled with regular fuel 87 octane, key in, primed 4 times , slider just past stop and used electric start...Just keeps turning over. Stopped primed again this time pressed it about 6 times and noticed gas leaking out. Is this normal as this video says it is on Ariens czcams.com/video/rlFoUZt8nYc/video.html . I bought it at costco so I'll probably just return it but thought I'd ask your opinion first.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  Před 4 měsíci

Yes, that's normal for a Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet and Yard Machines snowblower.
I go through the starting Procedure at minute 17:00
Let's reset the start. I'm guessing it's over 30 degrees outside.
      1. Pull the Safety Key out and reinsert it. (Just make sure it's all the way inserted)
      2. Place the throttle about halfway open. (It usually won't start on idle - the slider just past open)
      3. Leave the choke open.
      Crank it about 10 seconds.
If it didn't start. Crank it again for about 10 seconds.
      Still didn't start?
      1. Press the primer two times
      2. Turn the choke all the way closed.
Crank it up to 10 seconds.
      3. If it didn't start press the primer bulb two more times.
      Crank it another 10 seconds.
Try it one or two more times for 10 seconds but DO NOT press the primer bulb.
If it still doesn't start - return it.
